Warning to all who received this kind of call....we stupidly thought this was legitimate and gave them $150 as a partial payment.  Now of course no one returns our calls.  They had a lot of information about us and we stupidly thought they were helping us to significantly reduce the principal amount we owe on a different credit card.  Very upsetting!   We are no longer so naive, but now we are $150 poorer.  Very expensive lesson for a struggling family!  If there is any recourse for this situation PLEASE PLEASE POST A REPLY

These folks are trying to collect a charged off account from 8 or 9 years ago.  Initially, they wanted me to give them an account number they could draft the settlement from, I refused.  They wanted my Texas Drivers License number, I refused.  They asked for a Texas ID number, I refused.  Since none of that worked, I told them, "Go ahead and send me the settlement and I will review it and send you a check."  They said they don't take checks. Then I said we were done and I was hanging up He got mad and said he was trying to save me some money and blah blah blah.  Then he called me back 4 times and left a voice mail saying that I owed the money and I'd better pay and then he called my wife.  She doesn't owe them anything and she didn't even know about this debt.  Now he's calling me again wanting to know if I got the letter with the settlement offer.  I don't understand.  This is an old, charged off debt and isn't even on my credit report.  He even said so.  So what do I have to gain by paying the settlement offer?

I received a call today October 4th.  They claimed I owed money from a Discover Card account that I never held. I had a  Discover Card years ago but have paid it off. They demanded that I pay or they will put a warrant out for my arrest if I did not pay. They said I had 48 hours to respond or else they were send it to litigation and I would be responsible for court costs and fees.  I told them I was not going to pay and that the debt was not real and hung up. He immediately called back and said they were going to proceed with action against me! Good luck is all I have to say!!

Called looking for my brother.  Who like the rest of you slimeballs ripped off mastercard and several other credit providers foolish enough to trust him.  They wanted his phone number.  I would give it to them but didn't know it from memory.  (I told the guy good luck but he had a better chance of intimate relations with Eva Langoria than getting a dime from my brother.  I bet that is true for getting paid by the rest of you trailer trash as well.)  He said thank you and hung up.  What a job this poor guy has dealing with all you crooks!

i got several calls today from this 877 number, wb associates he says. first, a rude gal rattled off my info and was threatening, then she connected me with her "supervisor" who demanded i pay 1000 dollars over the phone "now" to settle an old discover card debt from 1995. they said they had sent me several notices and their clients were tired of dealing with me and were taking me to court. they were using big ole legal terms and sure threw the word "litigation" around alot.  silly things.  they knew the last four digits of my ss#. that was NOT cool. they also knew all of the addresses that i have lived in the past decade. i hung up on the dude finally. looked em up on the internet and found it just to my hunch, they are loser criminals. they continued to call back three more times. when i finally answered, i told the guy, "mitch stanner" that my attorney wanted to talk to him. he said that wasn't necessary, they dont deal w/; attorneys and that he was going to give me one more chance to pay and then they'd see me in court. i told him that he should be ashamed of his actions and that he is not a good person and that he had a nice phone voice and what a shame that he was wasting it doing horrible sinful things to people. i told him i was ashamed.  then he had the nerve to tell me that i was still on the phone with him because i knew deep down in my heart that i should pay him and i know that he's a good person. what the heck!!!! seriously.  dahahaha. he also said all the people that were typing up the trash up on the internet were drug addicts. he said address was po box 1 in new york. no website, no email he says, and they can't send paperwork in the mail. uh huh. wonder why.

I received a call from a Lisa Travis with WB & Associates on 9/8/11 stating they had a claim filed for non payment. She had just enough info to make it sound legitmate like the last 4 numbers of my soc, my past bank and two of my addresses. She stated I owed some online payday loan company. Good thing I didn't give her any info and looked her up to see if she was legitimate. The number she called from was a 1-877-397-9480. I left a message and told them if this was a legitimate debt they could send me the paperwork along with the original info on the debt, if not don't call my number again.

they asked for someone who has never been at my number

and then they refused to say who they were or what their business is

i told them they were in violation of the law, and they just kept repeating that they'd remove the number, but never identified themselves

they can be called back, so i did -- perhaps they need a regular amount of masked call backs to better understand what a nuisance they are...

Ph # is also 877-397- 9480

Called them back after recieving a message. Lisa Travis was her name. Explained that I was in pre-legal activity regarding Discover. Stating it was no longer with Discover, but someone else. Who, she wouldn't say. I have never had a Discover card in my life, and she stated that my signature was validated on a contract by comparing it to DMV records signature. Really? Ha...

She said that maybe it was a case of identity theft, so I asked her for the clients information and I would personally contact them and deal with it myself.  She wouldn't provide any other info but then transferred me to a supervisor who said he could straighten this up. He asked me to verify my last 4 digits and again I said no. He got abrasive and I told him to either fax me documentation or mail to me or my attorney. He then thanked me for my time and hung up.

These people are scammers. Attempting to collect on something I never owed or even had. Wow.. Just ask lots of questions, the deeper you dig, the quicker they hang up.

Save any call information and keep a journal of events or converstations. I am, will give to my attorney and I will gladly pay to thump these idiots right on the end of their long noses.....

A Trevor Greenman said he was "Calling in accordance with Texas State Law" my claim was due to be processed with a claim number, and said failure to address my claim would result in immediate litigation.  This was in regard to debt charged off around 10 years ago, it is no longer even on my credit report.  I told him this and he said something about it being a third party suing me.  I told him that in the state of TX once a debt is over 4 years old they cannot come after me for it any longer.  Trevor then told me it was being reinstated and they were going to file litigation against me.
They cannot to this! I told him to go ahead but I know my rights and that I would report them to the Federal Trade Commission!  They are just trying to scare people, they are a collection agency.

Carolyn Michaels left a voice mail this morning stating I or my attorney needed to call back by 5pm today regarding a pending litigation and left a file number. Called back and same voice answered but claimed it was not Carolyn but "she" would look at my case.  Asked me if I had been contacted regarding an old payday loan from over 4 years ago and I said I paid off my old pay day loans and anything else was included in my bankruptcy last year. She stated that was not eligible and I stated anything my judge signed off on was included in the order or would not have been discharged. I asked who this payday lender was and she took awhile claiming she was looking for that information, gave me some name of pro solutions I never heard of. Said I never heard of them. Then she said they tried to settle with me for $625 by mail. I stated that was not true. She verified address they supposedly mailed it to. I said I did not live there anymore. I do but not giving that out. She then they were not trying to collect on the debt anymore but seeing about pre litigation. lol yeah ok. She got a "Director" on the line who stated what did I want to do before they proceeded to serve me, I stated let me give you my attorneys number and he would not take it. I said the voicemail state myself or my attorney and I could tell he knew I knew the jig was up. He stated you will be getting served and I said great I am anxiously awaiting so I can sue you for violating a bankruptcy order. Will see what happens from here. Called my attorney and he said it is bogus and to disregard and report them to ftc.gov    It sounds scary when you first get call but its a scam.  They are also not a law firm.. They are a debt collection agency only with no attorney on file.

Received a voice mail today saying I needed to call by 5pm or have my attorney call regarding pre litigation for a lawsuit on an old debt. I called them and stated I did a bankruptcy last year and it was included in bankruptcy. He stated this debt could not be included and how did I want to proceed. I said let me give you my attorneys phone number and he said that would not be necessary. I stated but your recording says me or my attorney and now that I have one you do not want to speak to him??  He said no we will forward paperwork back to client to proceed with litigation.   lol..... yeah right.  Anxiously awaiting being served so I can sue them for violating a bankruptcy order.

I received a call which went to vmail. It was about a cc debt from 1995 and is not on my credit report anymore.  "Anthony" used the word litigation and several other terms which a law office might use, but he said litigation several more times which sent up a red flag. I called the number back and he asked if I lived at an address I lived at for about 2 months 13 yrs ago. He verified my last 4 digits of my social (which it was). I said "this is from 1995, this debt isn't even on my credit, how much is it?". "Anthony" said "I don't have that I will have to let u talk to such and such" manager I think. I said "this is way past the statute of limitations and isn't on my credit". This made him go into a rant (with legal terms and court case in my county) and I cut him off saying "I have no intention of paying this NO intention" and hung up. I'm so glad I googled this number.

They have called me about 3-4 different times in the past month. The most recent message was left 2 days ago. Each time they have called it is the same man who is very rude on the messages and tries to sound very intimidating. He does not say who exactly he is calling with only that I need to call him back at this 877 number extension 102 and he leaves a case number saying that I have a pending lawsuit against me in Dallas County and that I need to call them back before any litigation is taken against me. The last message he left 2 days ago said that due to my "blatant disregard" for all of the messages he has left and attempts to contact me in regard to this legal matter that they will have no choice but to forward it to their client as something to go ahead and proceed with litigation against and he even ended the message saying that if he did not hear from me within 48 hours then good luck with Dallas County.

Personally...I know this is all a bunch of BS...probably some low life scammers or horrid collections company trying to use EXTREME intimidation tactics...who knows.

Ronald Scott, called me yesterday and also stated they are attorneys-they state my current married name,my previous married name and my maiden name. They state to have my attorney contact them for further litigation. They do sound like an attorney's office! With some "allegations" in my county.

So I had to look online for information on this number. and sure enough -it is a scam!

I just got a call at work from an idiot named Carolyn Michaels from this number.  She demanded to know if the last four #'s of my SS# matched what she had, then asked if I still reside at the address she had on record.  I told her I don't give personal info over the phone.  She said I took out a payday loan online with some company I'm not familiar with, and that I did it maliciously because my last name is different in her records than what was on the "loan" paperwork.  She had my maiden and married names, so I guess that somehow shows malicious intent?!  I hung up and she called my work number again and left a message to let me know that paperwork will be delivered (not served, mind you), to the address on record so they can proceed with the action in the county I live in.  That was followed with a sarcastic comment wishing me "good luck".

Obviously they got bits and pieces of information about me from somewhere, but I can't figure out where.  If you get a call from this number, my suggestion is to hang up immediately -- don't fall victim to whatever scam this is.
