I only worked there a couple of days when they tried to get me to do the illegal stuff. I quit right away, but a lot of the employess did not realize that what they were doing was illegal. There is a daily "pep talk" from John that is absolutely amazing. He is really brainwashing these poor souls and dangles a promise of great riches in front of them. In fact, many of them work for a month for @$200.00. They quit right and left. The FTC has finally closed their operation, seized all of their assets and charged several people. Somebody is going to jail!!!

Back in April of this year I also received a call from 877-401-6202 while I was at work. I was told I needed to call in order to avoid papers being served at my workplace.  Of course, I got nervous and fell for the threats and decided to pay. I received a fax from the City Investment Services from Phil detailing the debt and that I would received paid-in-full documentation once the debt was paid. I have been making payments for the past 5 months until one day they called my daughter's brother-in-law telling him to get ahold of me and let me know that I will have to go to court and he knew that I would miss the court date because I hadn't received anything. I spoke to Stan at the above phone number and they told me that I couldn't speak to the one who had made the call and that they don't keep any information on their computer and they will need my information again (charge card).  I tried to call the phone number recently and it is no longer in service or just rings. I wish I had wised up much sooner and investigated the company instead of giving over a $1,000.00 to a scam.

The federal government has gone to court to shut down a Corona-based operation described as a ?shake-down debt collection enterprise? that has ?unjustly? collected more than $9.4 million in a little more than two years? operation ? with many of its alleged victims actually owing nothing to anyone.

Collectors speaking English and Spanish called people nationwide and falsely represented themselves as process servers, lawyers or legal office staff and claimed the people who picked up the phone were facing a lawsuit over an unpaid debt.

A returned call put the consumer in touch with a collector who turned up the heat with escalated threats including wage garnishment or property seizure. Some collectors claimed they were law enforcement and threatened arrest, according to documents filed in the case.

U.S. District Court Judge Virginia A. Phillips in Riverside on Oct. 11 granted a temporary restraining order against the businesses named in the Federal Trade Commission civil action. She also appointed a temporary receiver and scheduled another hearing for Monday .

Named as defendants in the FTC filing were several businesses, many of them sharing a couple of addresses in Corona: Rincon Management Services LLC; Prime West Management Recovery LLC; Union Management Services LLC; National Filing Services LLC; Investment Services LLC; Global Filing Services LLC; and Pacific Management Recovery LLC.

Also named in the civil action are two men said in court documents to be behind the companies, Jason R. Begley and Wayne W. Lunsford. ?Defendants have operated their deceptive and abusive scheme since March 2009,? the documents say.

Court records show no attorneys representing either the men or the businesses. A listed phone number for a man matching Begley?s name in Riverside reached a solar power company. The operator said no one named Jason Begley worked there. A number for a man matching Lunsford?s name in Sun City was disconnected.

In papers filed in Phillips? court, an FTC investigator outlined a sophisticated operation with its collectors following a script to deal with questions and challenges from the people they called.

?Defendants represent to the consumer that he can ?settle? the case by making an immediate payment to the defendants. In fact, no lawsuit has been filed nor will soon be filed against the consumer. Defendants simply use these tactics in an attempt to unlawfully collect money from the consumer,? the papers state.

I hope you are happy to know that ALL of these offices were raided by Corona PD, Riverside FBI and the FTC today. And yes, they were breaking plenty of laws and FDCPA protocols. Wayne Lunsford is to blame. However, there are similar companies that do collect debt that a debtor DID accumulate. They buy these debts from companies who could not recover the money owed to them, so they sell groups of debts to these companies for a fraction of their worth. These companies ARE legally entitled to collect that debt. They CAN sue you and you CAN get your wages garnished. BUT, they are not allowed to say they ARE doing something that they actually AREN'T. If they say you're being sued, and they haven't actually filed the lawsuit, they are breaking the law. These offices obviously broke this law. I know first hand.

"said she is an accomplice in a case "
Deception and illegal threats violate FDCPA.
They are lying.

"reference the case so the process server can follow up."
There is no "process server".
Deception and illegal threats violate FDCPA.
They are lying.

"get the line about process server needs to verify address to server papers (obvious scare tactic) "
You are correct. It is a deliberate scare tactic.
Deception and illegal threats violate FDCPA.
They are lying.

"So I ask what debt this is for, and they told me, turns out this is an 8 year old debt that is long gone from my credit report."
Check all 3 credit reports and see if you find one of their inquiries.  In particular, check Experian, and look for "PMG", "HGG", "ARM" "Pacific Management and Recovery", or something similar.
Pulling a credit report without permissible purpose violates FCRA.
Trying to collect an alleged debt you do not owe to them is deceptive, and violates FDCPA.

"I ask the lady if she is a debt collector she said no"
By law (FDCPA) a debt collector is anyone in the business of collecting on delinquent debts originally owed to another.  She is a debt collector.
Using deception to collect a debt violates FDCPA.
She is lying.

" I asked the name of her company she hesitantly answered RENCON."
"Rincon" is one of the names they use.  They use at least 50 names, and keep adding more names ever couple months.  Using false names to hide their identities and interfere with FDCPA validation is deceptive and violates FDCPA.

Contact FTC.  They are being investigated.

"said they were a finance company, then said they were a clearing house for court cases"

They aren't either.  They are just trying to convince your "husband's ex-wife's ex-husband" that he is supposedly "being sued".  They almost ALWAYS deliberately call some distant relative first.  NO ONE is that bad at "skip-tracing" without deliberately trying.

It's a con, basically an extortion racket.

I just stumbled upon this, thank God i did, this company Ms Jones said the exact same things to me and have already taken $1,000 from my checking. It is sick, i am a young person with a single income trying to make it in this economy. If it wasnt for this i would have paid 5times the actual charge which was $700 in the first place. At this point i guess i was scammed out of this money bc i'm guessing the money didnt even go towards the orig debtor. I can provide bank copies with routing info for anyone pursuing a lawsuit.

Called my home number looking for my husband's ex-wife's ex-husband. I called them back. They said they were Rincon. First said they were a finance company, then said they were a clearing house for court cases. Wouldn't let me speak to the case manager. We have no connection with the ex-husband except that my husband was married to his ex-wife about 15 years ago. Also, he lives at the top of the U.S., we live at the bottom. I've never laid eyes on him or spoken to him.

wow! you sure don't seem to like a420chick/kirsten everett very much! especially since you don't even know her and you're just reacting (childishly i might add) to her blog about what happened when she interviewed for a job that was listed on craigslist. now why exactly are you so enraged by what she said? do you really think she is a competitor of "rincon mgmt ser." of corona, ca. trying to fool consumers? or maybe you're an employee of the aforementioned company who loves their job/boss so much that they just couldn't stand by and do nothing while this "a420chick" a.k.a. kirsten everett of riv, ca. bad mouths the people they work for? i don't think thats it though. and if i had to guess i would say that you are either "john cook" himself, the little brother, or are in some way connected to them and/or their scam. as far as "a420chick's" credibility, i didn't read anything in her my space bio that would cause me in any way to doubt her credibility. is it because she's honest? or because she smokes pot? or because she likes bald guys with tatoos? or because she writes the homies when they're locked up? in my opinion, these are all positive attributes that show me that she is an honest, loyal, outspoken person with strong views on many subjects and she's not too timid or afraid to speak her mind. and where exactly is the part of her bio where she mentions her love of getting over on people? you know the part that led you to your assumption that she knows how to work the "system". you know nothing at all about her as a person yet you feel the need to badmouth and talk s*** about her in a blog. you are obviously a lying coward who would never have the guts to say these things to her face. yours truly, David.

These people called my wife's parents asking for her maiden name, and said she is an accomplice in a case # and to call 877 401 6202 back and reference the case so the process server can follow up.

So my wife calls the number, and they say they can not tell her anything because of federal privacy laws, but its important that I call them.

So I call, get put on hold, call back, and get the line about process server needs to verify address to server papers (obvious scare tactic)  So I ask what debt this is for, and they told me, turns out this is an 8 year old debt that is long gone from my credit report.  So I ask the lady if she is a debt collector she said no, I asked the name of her company she hesitantly answered RENCON.

She verified my address, which I knew they had since I have been living there for over 5 years, and she said they would send the paperwork out for the process server........YEAH GOOD LUCK!!!!

HAHAHAHA

BEWARE ANYONE OUT THERE GETTING CALLS FROM THESE FU@%ING IDIOTS.  These people are absolute scumbags.  I am sure they will get whats coming to them soon enough.

I used to work for this company and we were trained to break all federal laws, as long as money was pouring in. We lied and told people that they were being sued or a warrant was out on them. We even posed as sheriffs and threatened people with arrests. I loved the bonuses we received for tricking people into sending us money. I soon quit after I heard that my own mother was called by our company and tricked into sending us money. I want you all to know how sorry I am for victimizing the public. The company mailing address is a UPS Store in Corona, California.

I've been told it cost them more to sue than to be polite and get a payment arrangement for those of us who can't afford their terms.  The rudeness really bites if for me.  They even found my ex husband from 15 yrs. ago.  My father on edge of heart attack.  This is not good.  They must be stopped.

If the debt is outside the SOL (statute of limitations) they can sue you but will not win.   If you bring up the SOL in court, you will be fine.  The SOL is just that, and exists for a reason.  They cannot obtain a judgement on something that is outside the SOL, as long as you answer the summons and defend it in court, they will not win.     Colllectors buy junk debts all time for pennies on the dollar, most are outside the SOL and they hope they can scare people into paying.

Happened to me too.  But I have contacted my Credit Card company to block payment and investigate why they accepted this "firms" business.  Funny thing though is I thought they might be legimate cause they had the account number and name of a Bank that I had had a "Late Fee" dispute years ago.

Pleaseprovide a NAME or CASE # in the Riverside FBI office, and their phone number.
Glad I found this site to make me feel better about being suckered - just one of many
