I got a call from someone calling herself Julie Davis.  I knew this was a scam from the get go.  When I hung up on her she called back screaming that I couldn't run away from this, etc, etc, etc.  Don't be fooled by this bi***....because that's what she is....a foul-mouthed, brazen thief trying to scare you into taking some kind of action.  If you do anything at all then report what happened to you to your State Atty's General.  This gal and all the other scumbags working for her will be brought to justice eventually.  Above all....IGNORE anything she or someone else calling you saying that they are associated with a company called, Global.  It's all a pack of lies praying on the weak minded.

I got a message from a Lisa Bowers saying I had to call back to 855-681-1065 or I would be served with papers and charges were filed against me. It was lame. Why? Because I have received this same "last notice" about 12 or so times already. It's for an old payday loan (about 6 years old) and our state attorney general here in Utah said the company 1. cannot collect because they are not licensed here, 2. the payday loan company operated in Utah illegally; therefore, they cannot collect anyway, 3. the company is threatening "charges" which violated FDCPA because you cannot threaten nor state you are taking criminal action against a person for a debt.

It's a scam. Write down their info and file it with the FTC, FBI and STate Attorney General.

Yep got the same call today myself. Gave me an 855 number to straighten this out. Even told me he was an hour away. Through google found out it was a landline. First time he called he told my 10 year old daughter that I was in big trouble. she came into the bathroom balling her eyes out scared for me. so I called that number and it said something about investigations but I couldn't leave a message. the next time he called I answered the phone. first of all I knew something was up if I was in that much trouble they wouldn't be calling to warn me. I have an ignore button on my phone and know how to use it. Still waiting on dude to show up. Not worried. Owe them no money. if they think I do then send me paper work.

re Global Credit & Collection.   Never pay these people. They are not recognized by the Better Business Bureau. They called my work & on a company line the mentioned an attempt to collect a debt. This is illegal!  They cannot legally keep calling you at work or make threats. So here's what I did..I sent a letter to them (Return Receipt Requested), notifying them to Cease & Desist from calling me at work. Also, to never mention debt to an associate, friends or family as they already have. Its illegal. Ask for a detail of receipts, debits & credits etc of debt since inception. Most imprtant...Copies to the Federal Trade Commission, Washington, D.C., Attorney General State of NY, Attorney General of your home State,  & finally a copy to your Attorney.  These people have they arrogance that they think they can violate your rights.

I've filed a complaint with the NC State Atty General's Office for this "Global" firm and their "locator".  He says what they are doing is highly illegal.  NO MATTER what they threaten, they can NOT do anything!!!  It's all a scare tactic.  

As much as you hate to get the harrassing calls, they will stop.  He's stopped calling me when I informed him that I contacted the atty general's office.

So a "Gina Wells" has called me and says I have "charges pending against me" and that I should have all my stuff in order before I am served. She is giving me 1 hour to call this number (Global) and gave me a file number to fix this. I said ok and hung up, went about my hour and she called back. She got testy when I said I didn't call that number and wouldn't. She stated that this was her last attempt and she will have the charges against me pursued and will be at my door before the end of the day. She rattled off my address, as if to startle me. Unfortunately, she is stupid. I used to work for a collections company and I KNOW all the tactics!!! So for me this is a game now! I said, "ok, I'll be home waiting and I'll take a shower and be ready"...then I hung up. Today she called at 9am and said she was giving me "one last opportunity to contact Global and work this out"...I said, "but I showered and waited for you yesterday and you didn't show up as promised"...she then then said I "shouldn't take these pending charges lightly"...then proceeded to rattle off my address again and said she will "see me soon and serve me with the charges".....I said "ok, but I have some errands to do today and since you a locator you would know when I'll be home" I hung up. She called my dad in another state and told him that I was about to be arrested and that she has charges pending against me and to contact me and tell me that I need to call and get this straightened out in the next hour. Of course my father calls me all frantic and I tell him to just amuse her and hang up, let her call daily and it will wear off in a week or so. I know all the tactics. She called me back to tell me that she had to let my father know that I had charges against me and that she will "see me by the end of today" I told her as nicely as possible. "Lady, I know your game, I know your scam, you've called someone who used to do your job and I know all the tactics you will use, tomorrow morning you will call me again with the same last chance opportunity, so I'll talk to you again then" I then hung up. Of course it's now 8pm and she never showed up. I do expect her to call in the morning as that is the procedure they will use daily for a minimum of one week to harass and frighten you--enough that you'll just end up paying to have a peace of mind.

BEWARE: You can NEVER be arrested for not paying a bill or debt! It goes to collections like this, at best you can be sued...but you CAN NOT be arrested and if you don't show up to court, its a judgement against you and they have to start again in collection attempts. Charges are never pending against you. If you could be charged with not paying a debt or loan, basically 90% of American's would be in jail!! This is why we have CREDIT SCORES and credit reporting agencies. Don't be bullied into this scam by them. Don't let a collector frighten you, if they hear any sense of weakness in you, they will note it in their system and step up the calls and words to scare you overboard. Advise your work to simply hang up on them. They are a 3rd party collector. Regardless if you owe the loan or not, they are illegally contacting you, falsely stating charges against you and harrassment at work. All against the law. Like I said, I used to be a bill collector for a 3rd party and I know the steps they will take, and I think its karma that I'm now on the other end, but at the same time, fun for me to mess with them!

They have to go through the proper steps to serve you.  Call your courthouse, they will tell you if papers to appear have been filed.  More than likely, they are just scamming you!  And if you have proof that it's paid in full, then you have nothing to worry about!!

I am in SC. They are legal here. I paid it and have proof (Bankstatement). They took the money directly out of my account, back then in 2008. Today they called again. Saying I will have to appear in court due to not cooperating.

I work with attorneys and these people can NOT serve you with papers if you live in a state where paydays are illegal such as my state of NC.  They will harrass you and break all kinds of laws trying to collect, but not paying a debt is NOT illegal.  You have nothing to worry about.  I've talked to a bankruptcy attorney and this is straight from him!!

I currently go through the same. The call me under 888-901-4719 and a locator keep on calling me as well. Today he said that he will come to my job and he will serve me.

It is regarding a Money and More loan from 2008 what I actually really had, but I paid it. They took out the money from my checking account.

I never heard anything from them that they did not receive payment.

I don't know what to believe?

I live in NC and they are illegal here as I've found out.  They absolutely refuse to give me a mailing address.  They refuse to talk nicely to me.  I have 14 abusive voice messages left by their "Locator".  I have no way to find "Westgate" online and this "Global" company says I have to pay THEM.  But refuse a mailing address.  I've spoken to an attorney and with all my medical bills ($15,000) and 3 payday loans, we've decided to file personaly bankruptcy.  They are threatening to arrest me and says it will not cover a payday loan, but I know better and after doing research I know they are lying to me.  BUT the harrassment of my employer and family needs to stop until we electronically file the bankruptcy.....thanks for the comments!!

They can't serve you and it's illegal for them to say they can.  A payday loan is a small claims court case at best.  As such a debt collector (assignee in this case... read legal statutes) can not sue you... only the original company with the debt can.  If they are operating outside of the clear items on the FDCPA you actually have a right to report them to the FTC and sue them.  They can not threaten you and they must provide proof / verification of any such claim.  Your best weapon in this is to remain calm and do not hand over any money whatsoever.  Before such you need to establish:

1.  That it is your debt
2.  If it is your debt you can setup up arrangements to pay but you should only do this in writing (as you need a paper trail).  Do not under any circumstances give them a credit card or and bank account #.  They will drain your account without a second thought.  Money orders are the only way to go.  Specifically get a certified check with a recipt (so you can prove money was sent and paid off)...
3.  More often than not these debts are illegal in the first place.  You should read up on your state laws regarding payday loans as to what they can charge, etc...
4.  You should look into debt settlement / bankruptcy depending on your financial status.  Usually payday loans are a sign that your are in deep financial straits...

SW...the difference in my post and most on here is I DO owe this payday loan that was originally $500.  I can't pay it and they refuse to talk to me...

Melody........Don't buy into their crap.  They are not going to arrest you or even show up.  Ignore the calls.  I finally had to have an atty. from my place of business call and put a stop to it, at least for now.  Read the rest of the posts on here and you'll get the info you need.

Ok...I took out a payday loan with Westgate Company in February.  I couldn't make the payments due to something financial happening to me.  I've tried calling that company to work something out and they refuse.  The original loan amount was $400 and they're telling me now that it's gone up to over $700.  

I am getting threatening phone calls from "Global" and a Scott Thomas who says he is a "locator" for Global.  He says that he is having me served and it's my "FINAL" notice.  He is very upset and ugly.  They have called my place of work almost a dozen times including my co workers and HR head.  He always says it's my final notice and good luck.  Can I be arrested for not paying this?  They give me all sorts of things I've comitted such as fraud, etc.  They've called me from 888-901-4719 and 855-213-5589 and give me a claim number.  

They end the call saying I will be served documents to appear in court....what is going to happen???  They say if I don't pay the amount or enter into an agreement, I will be served.

Both companies have called me with the same claim number.  They are now using different phone numbers.  Beware of this number also: 855-213-5589.  And yes, it went to voice mail and I saved it.
Tired of the BS!  The 877-402-7338 is Global.. The other number not for sure...but it is the same company using a different number and the same claim number for both phone numbers. (companies).

These jerks called my home yesterday and harassed my young daughter looking for me.   Stateing that a claim was pending against me and for me to call.  Well, I have a pretty good credit rateing so I did not bother to call.   Today a Julie Davis left a very threating message on my answering machine.  I attempted to call back and calmly streighten out the matter, but instead a very hateful gal started to speak very disrespectful to me. Calling me a liar and saying that I will be served papers and they will find me.  By the way I did not give my home address or place of employment which is what they wanted.    I denied that I owed $860 due to a defaulted loan in 2005, never heard of LOANPOINT.USA.  Which is the truth !
My husband was suspicious and got online an found you guys, I was also relieved to know that I was not alone.   This needs to be stopped I may take this matter to my local TV to see if more people can be made aware of this harrassment and SCAM.   thanks for listening.... OK..where to begin..got a lovely call from a person stating like the rest of you that i had a claim filed against me..and better pay up.!  I asked the gentlemen nicely..what claim?  And he says you should know.  What the hell?  Then please preceed to call this 877-402-4883 number to get it worked out.  Even gave me a claim number!

Something seemed a miss..not right.  I called my attorney and here is what he said to do: "IGNORE THEM.  I just tried calling both numbers, the local one wont take voicemails or answer, the 877 one hung up on me.  That is all the advice I can give you unless you want to accept service. " Service meaning served with the paperwork. The lovely gentlemen has called 3 times today and left one voicemail.  Again threatening me.. Ok., so now that does not work...now they try a different number with the same prefix.  Looked both numbers up and they are landlines. Go figure..landlines per the internet.  I had noticed that one person had stated they were a golfing company-looked up the website..and yes it is but there is another number also with this site..called it and it is NOT  a golfing company..something different.  So let's all put our heads together ans stop the madness!!!

UPDATE:

Today, the locator who is local to my area and area code called me 17 times.  Some how or another he got my parents # and called them with a threat that they are going to press charges on me for fraud--for entering a contract with pay day loan company and not paying them back (all false, they were paid almost 2 yrs ago).

This Nick Taylor has been calling my office for the last 2 days saying he's a locater with Global.  Thank you for the other posts on here.  I know what my debts are and he ain't one of 'em!  I work for a major corporation and have gone so far as to have the Regional Mgr. call this number and tell them to stop harrassing his employees.  When he asked to speak to a supervisor, he was put on hold indefinetly.  This Nick Taylor person just called again and said he's on his way to my office to serve me papers.  How do we stop these b*****ds????????????

they told me  the same date of 4/22/10, then they changed it to 09/09/08 and I told them, well I filed bankruptcy so if that was the date, it would have been discharged anyway. They were super threatening and rude but I called my attorney and he said not to worry about it.

OMG, I am so grateful that all of you have posted here about this scam.  4 days ago, I purchased my 1st new ride in 15yrs and then the very next day (Sunday 3/25/12), I began getting terrible phone calls from a company called GLOBAL about a debt I owed from 2 years ago.  The debt was paid off already, but I was still unsure because they kept saying they paid for a local headhunter to track me down and give me papers of CHARGES FILED AGAINST ME for FRAUD; for not paying off a pay day loan in the amount of $715.00.  

Right away, the girl..Alexis Peterson said she would cut off $200.00 from the total bill if I promised to pay by tomorrow.  I told them I was on a fixed income as a disabled veteran and have no money.

They said; well the locator is going to serve you with CHARGES AGAINST YOU FOR FRAUD b/c I entered a contract to pay off my pay day loan 2 yrs ago and I didn't so they are going to charge me.  

This scared me; CHARGES AGAINST ME and tonight I went to WAL MART and paid for a pre-paid visa card.  I was going to pay them tomorrow with this card.

However, right before I left for my day, I posted my dilema on FACEBOOK and when I got home, I had a ton of responses.  All positive and all led me here to share with you guys.

SO IT'S A SCAM, I feel so much better that this was caught before I paid money tomorrow.  Now I can pay my regular phone bill on time and not WORRY.
