got same message 2 times in a row from 40341
with Code 5345.
Didn't visit any site.
DNC also stands for Democratic National Committee, so they are trying to look like them.
That's fraud.

I called the number, but they would only say that there was some affiliated partner with Wal-Mart, and that I had supposedly registered with my cell phone at one of their sites - all not true.

I think the scam is that they ask you to supply them with $3.90 so that they can send you the gift card. Whether you'd ever get it or not I'll never know, because I decided not to try it.

I dont know how they got my cell phone number and texted me, but each text costs me money and I'm mad about it.  This should be illegal.  Unsolicited texts that cost me money and make my service provider money.  very angry.

even i got the call and unfortuantely i have shared my credit card information. can anyone tell me how to come out of this?

i got this one too, and i know walmart doesn't have my cell number. the only place i've given my # to for text is the store maurice's, maybe they sold it?

anyway, i wish they were really giving me a $50 card instead of eating up my texts!

has anyone had success with texting STOP? replying in any way makes me a little nervous.

I received a message stating i would get $50 gift card, when i called this number, he said i would get a 20.00 gift card and a 200.00 gas card. he asked for my card information. i told him i did not feel comfortable giving him my number. He called me an "idiot" and hung up. Please do NOT fall for this!! It is a SCAM!!!

I get them too, I have called the FTC and they have told me to call the Attorney General.  I got the text saying I won the 50 walmart card and when I called because I knew it was a scam they advised I won a 200 gas card, Indian accent as well I said what stat are you calling from they said arizona, I said oh where in arizona that is where I am from they hung up.

SAME AS ALL OF THE ABOVE EXCEPT THIS IS THE SECOND ONE I GOT CAN'T THEY STOP THIS


WALMART THAT WHO IT SAYS IT IS FROM

I just recvd the same freaking text as everyone else. My cell is registered on the do not call list...but what...does text not count on there?
It came from "403-41"..and the toll free number is 877-417-0116.

Two things. First, you can have your cellphone carrier block "shortcodes." You have to call customer service and ask. It may help to ask for Tier 2 support. While you're at it, consider asking them to block texts from email as well, as lots of spammers operate that way.

This isn't bulletproof as I have short codes blocked and I still got this spam, but the level I get is nowhere near what I would if shortcodes were allowed. Plus, blocking shortcodes should be the default on all cellphones because this is where scammers will run your bill through the roof - think the modern version of 900 numbers.

Select "Wireless Telephone" on the first screen then "Telemarketing calls received on a wireless phone" on the second screen - this applies to text messages too.

that's the text i received 4 TIMES!  i returned the call and the guy hung up on me when i asked how they got my number.  i called back again and pretended to be interested.  he said the company name was "veyers h"?  i think i got the spelling wrong.  i asked again how they got my number, since i don't shop at walmart.  he said they got it through shell gas stations.  i then asked to be taken off of their list and he hung up on me again.  he was rude and impatient with me.  he had an indian accent.  
i get charged over a certain amount of text messages.  i am on the do not call list.  lately i have been getting all these unwanted solicitations via texts.  
these people suck!  how do i make them stop?

Just received the same message as y'all from both 40341  AND 33555

The second one is premium messaging.  I didn't open either one but immediately called my wireless carrier.  They told me to open both messages and reply STOP to opt out.  My carrier said the only way for them to have gotten my number was for me to have filled something out supplying that info.  I told them that was bollocks.  I do not fill out any forms, either written or online, using my cell #.  Since I have premium messaging blocked on my phone I was not charged.  However, my carrier said they would have reversed the charges.  I wish there was a way to stop this, but there doesn't appear to be a way.  So you must reply STOP to opt out of them sending you content.

I got the same text. They wanted me to pay for "shipping" of my gift card. Different guys say different things. One said I was picked because I'd recently shopped at Wal-Mart. But I haven't. Not in a couple months. One said it'd come within a week. One said I'd receive it within 3 days in the mail. Its clearly a scam. I feel for those of you who have to pay for unsolicited texts. I have unlimited text messaging, at least. They only wasted my time.

Is there any lawyer between us?
In my native country (Russia) we have very strong law against unwanted calls and txt on cell phones + we never pay for incoming calls and txt. We pay only for outgoing calls and txt. It's because of the law. I believe American Society still must do many things to improve the life.

What should I do?

I just got an unsolicited text from 40341 "Thanks 4 Visiting our site call 877-417-0116 to receive your $50 Walmart Gift Card Code 5345 Reply STOP to DNC."

I got some of these awhile back and tried filing a complaint with the FCC, got nowhere.

Same message thanking me for visiting their site and the 877 number to call to claim my $50 WalMart gift card.  I didn't call back... IF I had visited their site and it was reputable, they would have my email and/or address to just deliver the gift card.  HATE unsolicited texts!!

Keep getting text messages from 40341 saying "Thanks 4 Visiting our site  Call 877-417-0116 to receive Your $50 Walmart Gift Card . . . Reply STOP to DNC"  Even though I have replied STOP numerous times, THEY NEVER STOP.  Also, these texts are being charged to my account and they are unwanted!

they are from India always reply, 'Cows taste good!"

I just got a text from this number. what do i do about it?
