Got the same call, called back. Sounds like a scam to me too, or at the very least a way to trap you in a room for an one-hour sales pitch. Has anyone actually gone?

Definitely a scam.  Concur with everythign luigi wrote.  Received the same pitch...Bill Russell; Virgin Travel; guaranteed winner of one of four prizes.  Asked to confirm my age bracket-"28-72yrs old"!!! and marital status.  Call abruptly ended with "you will receive additional information in the mail" when I began asking simple questions.

I just got the call too and googled to get infomation. Mine said R Griffin as well said they are in Chicago but the phone number was showing as a local number for my area. I to was told to call Mr. Russell at 866-659-0483. I did and left the message. When they called back it was no Mr. Russell but a young lady. I asked if it was a time share? She said no with a different tone in her voice. I asked because to claim my prize I could not bring my kids with me and I must come with my husband. The name of the company they told me was Virgin Travel. Nothing came up for me when I google exept the 8774182687 scam everything eles was about the airline. I told my husband and he said it was BS as well. Wonder what they are trying to do???

i got the same call.  The caller ID said R Griffin & the phone # was 312-546-4527.  I was to call the 877 number, ask for Mr. Russell, & I would need to go to Sterling, VA.  Thanks to the above & related other postings, I won't waste my time.

This scam works on the call back method.  I listerned to the whole sales pitch and asked questions as if i was interested.  My notes agree with many found on this page.  Bill Russel, guaranteed four prizes, a six-letter code, and an appointment at the hampton inn, which was supposed to be "Virgin Travel".  when I asked if there was any way to claim my prize without traveling to a hotel, there was a pause and then a NO.  It is a true "call-back" scam.

Its a scam they want you to wire money to "pay the taxes" so they can give your prize. Very common scam...stay away from it..

Got the same thing today and was asked to call Bill Russell.  I was also told that it was a new travel agency in Sterling, Virginia, called Premier (of course, no such thing exists).  I love how they pronounced things, too...

Them - "Your winning N-Tuh-Ree guarantees you one of 4 major prizes!"
Me - "My what?"
Them - "Your N-Tuh-Ree."
Me - "I have no idea what that is.  Are you speaking English?"

Also - the original phone call was from 312-546-4457, last name "GRIFFIN", which I traced back to the L3 Communications CLEC in Chicago, IL.

I received the same call today.  I never use my home number for contests, only my work number.  So I was immediately suspicious.  I used *67 to block my phone ID & called the 877 number.  I got a recording to please leave my name and number and they would call me back in 15 minutes!  I'm not calling this number back and I recommend that no one else should call them either.

I received a call from Diane Foster asking for (me) at (my full mailing address) regarding an entry form I had submitted (I don't recall entering a contests) for a Ford Explorer or smaller prizes.  The contest is now over and my entry was selected as a winner!  Congratulations!  I was told to call my "Prize Director" (no name was given) at 1-877-416-2687.  After checking out the posts below, I will not return any calls.  Coincidentally, I received another phone call the same day telling me I had won a cruise.  I would expect any legitimate firm running a contest would notify you in writing for legal reasons.

Received a call from a SImone Lorry about winning a Ford Escape with a message to call this number.  That number is identified as belonging to Bill Russell. It sounds like a complete scam.

Event Reminder
I got the same call...I went (me and my wife, as requested) and she scratched off the 2500 dollars (after listening for about 55 minutes to why their company has better travel than others, which may or may not be true) and I was overall pleased with my experience...

After reading this I'm glad I just went down there to check it out myself. Everyone says "I wonder why they're calling!" and everyone else says "OH IT'S A SCAM!" and if I had read this before I went, I'd be out $2500.

Slander. Why would you proceed to make notes about something you don't understand?

I received the same phone call today.  This is a scam, a continuation of an older scam (read here http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8668540646 ).  Don't waste your time with it.

Non-profit Organization
I received the same call. First a man left a message saying I won a Ford Escape "amongst more prizes". I called the number and got a recorded message, so I left Bill Russell a message. A young lady called me a few minutes later...she listed 4 gifts and went on to verify the info she said I provided on the form (US Citizen or resident, ages 28-72, married). It was correct...despite my misgivings I verified it. She then gave me an address a few miles away from my house and told me that a scratch card would tell me which gift was mine. I asked her when I should go and she said she reads from the screen. The company wants publicity, the gift is free, no strings attached, etc. etc. Then I got an email. Nice pictures, no typos, a written summary of what I was told on the phone. My wife and I will be going to check it out, after all it's down the street...anything funny and I'll post again.

Prank Call
Found a thread on this site about a possible scam regarding a phone message about winning a Ford Navigator. I received a voice mail earlier that I had won a Ford Escape, so at least they are keeping it in the same family. No one on the other thread knew what the intent was, except possible to authenticate information for potential identity theft.

They left a number to call of 877-418-2687. I did call and heard a message that a Bill Russell would call me back within 15 minutes. Like the contributors to the other thread, I received a call back from a Sara Johnson at 773-598-4530 (I think this is a different number from the other thread).

Sara asked me to validate the info I had (according to them) submitted in my email to a travel organization. She asked me to validate that I was a US citizen, that I was between the ages of 24-75, and that my marital status was married. I refused to validate the info and she sounded a little irritated, saying that she was only repeating the info I had given them (yeah, right). Then she asked me the question again - was I a US Citizen, etc. I said again that I refused to validate the info and she suggested that I research Bill Russell, etc until I was willing to give the info.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the other thread, I will post this message there as well.
