You may never get satisfaction from those script-bound Mumbai drones and a company which tries to run on autopilot. You can end the calls yourself rather than wait for an AG or the FTC to not get around to you. To halt the misfired skip trace calls, laying a paper trail is far more effective than verbal denials. My advice for "not me" cases is found here:

these guys just started calling me looking for some body regarding some debt. I told them I don't even know this person they were looking for. 3 times they called and everytime I told them they got the wrong number. I even called them back and told them they have a wrong number. person did apologize and told me they would remove my phone number from their files. but I don't think that's going to happen after reading all the complaints on this site. spoke with a "Sanjay" although that's probably not his real name, he was polite but its just a game and he probably is not sincere in promising not to call my number again.
it was very hard to understand him due to his thick east indian accent and he mumbles when he speaks. I had to listen to a voice mail on my phone multiple times just to kinda figure out what he was saying. if they call me again I will lodge a complaint with FTC and attorney general

} It makes perfect sense to me that calls would be made to other people who may be able to contact me.
Hmm, look again at the complaints of excess skip tracing. A collection agency can find all your relatives, your ex-spouse, your neighbors, your boss, your high school biology teacher, and your half-cousin's pet ferret but somehow you are invisible like air? None of that hassle is about "locating" but intimidating a person into paying unverified debt just to stop the noise. The industry slang terms are "block party" and "office party".
A debt "long ... eligible for servicing" does not mean an agency is demanding a correct amount or has its facts straight or can prove it's owed, or indeed is not breaking the law with each call and letter. That's just the kind of sloppy work FSA's victims have endured.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If you do not get both, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Yes, I'm sure a company shill would simply start talking some modest settlement before demanding validation and while ignoring FSA's Standard Illegal Operating Procedures. I once made them a generous offer ... to pay ME for committing several dozen FDCPA violations and generally jerking me around. They wouldn't "get it done", so I gave "a little push in the right direction" all the way to federal court.
FirstSource is indeed "a great company" for "low offers". Their lawyers tried more than once to buy my silence for cheap and scare me away. Eventually they did "better my situation" when I was awarded a fat judgment totalling *fifty percent more* than what I'd asked for pre-suit. I also agree that FSA reps are like children ... clumsy, inarticulate, disorganized, amoral, unruly children who must be spanked hard and spanked often.

Holy crap!!! These people are killing me!!! They call constantly. Something about a debt collector- even gave me a file number to refer to when I called back. I have no idea who it is- I don't owe any monies to anyone, which, is a shock! But, even when I called to get me off their damn calling list- there is no answer! I called my phone provider- to have the number blocked, forever. For some odd reason- they claim it takes 4-6 weeks- so, if they continue to call- remains to be seen- only been about 2 weeks......to be continued...

They are a collection group who handle mainly American Express accounts on behalf of American Express. I would talk with them and let them know that times are getting hard and that you would like to settle the account for 30-35% of the balance. They will even let you work out payment plans on the lower settlement terms. Dont be afraid to ask them and if they ask you to bring it up, tell them "NO" and that the offer made is what you can do. They can usually do things in 6months to 12months. Dont be afraid to tell them to "get it done". The indian creditors are like your kids and sometimes just need a little push in the right direction. They are a great company to get good low offers out of, so dont be afraid to work them and better your situation.

i used to collect, now i go after collectors to settle debt for the consumer. The LAW states if the collector DOESNT have a good contact phone number for the borrow-debtor, and there is proof of NO response they ARE allowed to skip trace and get message to a neighbor, BUT they CANNOT reveal they are collecting on a debt. Perfectly LEGAL. So YOU'RE WASTING your time and money trying to sue because a judge WILL throw it out of the court!!
zipper 2013-02-26 06:38:24 Unknown
P.S.
You DO NOT have any business with another credit card of any type.
You could not pay the first one's you had and you expected a company
to send you another credit card.
LMAO
zipper 2013-02-26 06:36:18 Unknown
If your so gullible to believe anything a collection agency says__ I have a few bridges and state parks to sell you real cheap. How dumb can a person be as to believe a collection agency when they say that you will get a new american express card as seeing how the same collection agency is trying to collect delinquent debts.
Silly people like you are what's wrong wtih society. You can't and don't think. You act and or react.
I'm still laughing at your sill a?? for believing such an outrageous thing.

They called and asked for my daughter, who does not even live in my house, said they had a business matter to discuss with her. Would not tell me what they were calling for even mentioned her previous husband who she has been divorced from for 8 years. They asked me to pass the number on to my daughter. I told them to quit calling because she does not live at this number. The caller's name was Melvin Fernandez.

This number calls here several times a week even though we blocked the number. We have no debt so if they are posing as collectors, they're definitely frauds.

Come now ... A credit report with collection trade lines "takes the hit" whether or not they are marked as paid. The worst damage is done at the moment of default; the only sure relief is deletion of the tradeline. Anyway, credit "scoring" is really ranking on a curve with factors out of the debtor's control. It's not a true measure of performance like a school report card but an ever-shifting and error-prone risk assessment. Hinging all of your decisions on some obfuscating set of numbers makes for poor financial management.
Now to get back to the actual point I was making in May, I have a simple rule. Collection agencies which break laws are by definition not "legitimate". Collectors who value their commissions and spiffs ahead of my rights don't get paid. When I tell them to stop "becoming a pain for me" and I'm ignored, my response is a summons and complaint .... dude.
andy sommers 2012-07-21 02:13:11 Unknown
Whatever dude. At least i got my a/c paid. It was becoming a pain for me....
rest is up to you. if you wanna pay then go ahead and pay or let your credit report keep on getting a hit.
