Well I'm 12 and I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up for a AccountNow. They called me during class, but didn't know what to do so I turned off my phone.

They are a legitimate Bank!! I DO deal with them and have found their customer service to be excellent, I do not know who is calling some of you folks, I am willing to bet it isn't Account Now, but some one using their name and business!! A friend of mine just had this happen to her with a bank in Iowa after calling the bank to verify found out it was fraud, This happens frequently and is easy for these people to accomplish.

got a call from this number saying i was approved for a prepaid card i never signed up for one nor gave my info that would of activated a call like this
anonymous 2012-12-22 02:07:00 Unknown
No, prepaid cards are really BAD for online use because prepaid cards behave like cash with no fraud protections like credit cards do. You bear the loss with unauthorized charges on a prepaid card. With credit cards, the CC issuer bears the loss with unauthorized charges.

I received a message from this number saying my application was approved and my card was in the mail awaiting approval. I researched the number and checked out their website. I called the customer service # on the website and the person I talked to said it was just an offer that was mailed out and if I was interested I could then give then my info to activate the card.
I proceeded to explain to her that the message they left was misleading and that if it was just an offer to say so. I also requested to be taken off their mailing list. This company has a horrible way of trying to get your business.

I just got the same call and I was worried about someone stealing my ID as well. Did you get more progress on this strange call?
Jessica 2012-07-31 06:43:16 Event Reminder
Yep, its for Account Now. I run a GPT Site ( STARZCASH ) and one of our affiliates is Account Now =D, so they called me as well after signing up to let me know my card was on the way.
Lisa 2012-05-30 18:19:15 Unknown
Really??? maybe you should listen to the girl...this is accountnow. I signed up for one for my 12 year old son so he can use his allowance and get the things he wants from the internet without giving my card # out. if they are calling you it is because someone signed up using that telephone number...they just dont call out of the blue...so either someone typed in the wrong number by accident or they purposely entered a wrong # for fradulent reasons but the company was given your number by someone. Maybe you should take it as a warning and run your credit report and make sure no one has stolen your identity.

A call to my cell number from 877-425-8004. The automated phone call told me I was getting a prepaid VISA card in the mail. I have not applied and was scared someone is stealing from me. Any clues out there.

I received the same message on my phone recorder, I would be getting my prepaid card from Account Now, call 877-425-8004 or go to their website for more info.
I looked up Account Now's contact numbers & called customer service to complain about the phone message I received since I did not sign up for any card. They said the 877-425-8004 number from the message is not related to Account Now. Customer service was very upset to hear that this is happening since any scam related to them hurts their business, any loss of customer confidence will really hurt them.
I don't know what this scam is, but whatever it is, please don't fall for it. If you get a card, shred it. For you newcomers to the wild west, don't give out ANY private/personal information because that is all they need to steal from you. It is always in your best interest to go ahead & hurt the scammer's feelings.

They called my # and left a message "We now take cards, good bye". Weird.
Sarah 2011-06-06 21:04:24 Unknown
When I answered nobody was on the other end! Who are they????
Charles 2011-06-06 21:04:24 Unknown
I've been called several times from this number, too. The calls began right after I applied for a NetSpend pre-paid credit card. I have never answered the phone though.
Ilia 2011-06-06 21:04:24 Unknown
Some bs message about a prepaid card that will supposedly be showing up in a few days. Strange because I've never applied for anything like that or given any information. It'd be funny if it actually shows up.

I've been using Account now since 2005, as a useful and safe way to shop online without using my bank account or credit card. This number is theirs. In ALL MY HISTORY WITH THEM, i have received exactly 2 phone calls from them, to let me know my card is on the way when they issue me a new one. they don't scam and they don't telemarket. i've never received a single unwanted call from them. and no, i do NOT work for them.
if you're receiving a call from them, then someone has signed up for their service using your phone number. if you believe this to be the case, then call their customer service line at 866-921-9891, rather than whining about it here like a bunch of babies. Of course no one is going to answer the 8004 number - it's an automatic dialer specifically set to let people know their card has been mailed. If you had done a bit of research, the customer service number is easy enough to find, and from my past experiences with calling customer service, real people are available to talk to.
good luck.

Even a prepaid visa card can ruin your credit. To get one you have to give personal information. Even if they do not have a social security number and make one up but fill in your name and your real address with a real telephone number, the card company does a verification search, and since one of your IDentifying pieces of information is incorrect, the credit reporting agencies flag your credit file as being one connected with fraud. This then lowers your credit score.
Another thing, for a company to be calling me, only means that A) I do business with them, B) They're telemarketing. C) Somebody has put my number out there as their own. Since all the numbers I have, have a Federal Court Ordered Tap and Trace, are on the Do Not Call Registry, Are Cell Phones, and are all totally new generated numbers that have been never used before being assigned to me. points B and C are of concern and only C is worrisome because it means somebody is attempting fraud or ID theft.
Jenn 2011-01-25 21:50:03 Unknown
do you work for them or something?? That's the only logical explanation I can come up with viewing your response. So we should be happy that they're calling us at home, calling us at work, wasting our cell phone minutes with their recorded solicitations? Give me a break. This number has called me 3 times today alone.

You must work for them. Sorry, but SPAMming is NOT a legitimate way to earn a living. It is a nuisance.
Please tell these scumbags who you seem to know or admire that their calls are not wanted or appreciated.
Ashley 2010-11-30 20:21:42 Unknown
