Calling relatives and myself

Got a call from this number requesting employment information to verify a car loan for an employee.

Called the number back and they answered "Lakeside".  The guy couldn't not tell me who he was or who they had called about.  I refused to give out my information or our company information.

Is this a bill collector or something?
