It's a scam. Call your phone company and have the # blocked. Then google the do not call registry and put your name on the list.  I was part of a class aciton law suit against a home security company that used the robo call system and whoever filed the law suite won and I got $50. Not much, but 50 bucks is 50 bucks. This s*** has got to stop and you can start by going to the do not call registry. Hope this helps...N

    I don't know any of these numbers that have been calling me . And I'm on the do not call list and my number is private. If it doesn't stop I will call the  do not call center. every single day and they change there number all the time.  I have a paper full of them on my bulletin board.

They hope that the person who answers the phone is unaware that they are scammers so they can try to get account information so they can sign you up with a different energy company without your permission -- it's called slamming.

And then you have to pay a fee to get your previous energy company back. I

Instruct your children and other family members not to give them any information.

BanFhiosaiche, i used to do that to waste their money on the long distance calls, but i don't pick up the phone anymore.

I been getting those calls for 1.5 years or so, now they call 5 to 8 times a day.
I thought it was about the damn smart meters and looked it up on the net to see.
Guess i have my answer. :p

Hello to my weary fellow victims.  I've been getting calls from this number for well over a year and a half now.  They claim to be with some power company which can save me money on my gas & electric bill.  They always start off by asking if they may speak to the person who is responsible for the electric bill.  I tell them talk to my kids, they are the ones who stand in front of the fridge for an hour just staring at what's been in there since yesterday morning when I brought in another $300.00 in groceries.  They leave the lights on in every room in the house regardless if there's anyone in them. They are constantly playing video games with the TV on & spend more time in the bathroom 'preening' than I ever did at their age which is 17, 18, 22 & 24yrs respectively.  All boys & nobody engaged yet!!!  I keep telling our 22 yr old I'm gonna enroll him in the Seminary where he can join his brother.  All I get is a smart mouthed answer that he'll enter the Seminary just as soon as priests are allowed to marry or at least make the convent co-ed with the rectory!  I will tell you one thing.......you lose a certain amount of parental authority when you have to yell UP at your kids.  I'm 5'4" but my husband is just a tad over 6'4" so it's not surprising our boys are all over 6'2" & I don't think the two youngest are finished growing!  
    Now, there's a reason for the slightly lengthy missive above & it gets them to stop calling after a while! It'd be GR8 if there weren't new ones eager to take the place of the old ones! Take a few minutes & write a couple of paragraphs about your life, just ho hum, same kind of thing we've all got going in our lives a good part of the time.  Then again you could always just pick-up one of your old chemistry books from college or trade school or whatever and just start reading.  If they try to interrupt you to get in a word or two just talk LOUDER!  They will eventually hang-up!  Keep whatever it is you'd like to read to them right by the phone & don't ignore the call, time to give 'em some pay back!  I haven't tried it on these jokers yet because I'm just coming off a 72 hour shift at the hospital & I do believe my brain is starting to say enough is enough or I'll make you sound like a walking vegetable & I'm NOT vegetarian!! This gal must have cow!!  Whoa, look what happens when you just go with the stream of consciousness type of babble! These folks have a very HEAVY Indian ACCENT!  In India they do not eat cows, they respect cows as sacred & please, I mean absolutely no offense to our friends either here or in India!  Ok, so I'm not the most linear of writers either............Ok, back on track.  You could always discuss in length [1] Steak~don't leave out anything describe the process from the pasture to the plate with emphasis on the slaughter house experience.  [2] Rant at them in complete gibberish & sing a little song to it if you like.  [3]  This one can be FUN!!  Simply repeat every single thing they say to you & at least try to use the same inflections in your speaking voice as they are, basically talk like you are a tape recorder on play back!!  My husband has actually used this one a number of times & put it on speaker phone & it's hilarious!  He's got it perfect right down to the accent, which just in case you were wondering they don't seem to be able to understand English spoken with a heavy Indian accent either!  Almost made me feel guilty, no, don't worry, I said ALMOST!  Problem is, they're just so damned POLITE!!  The first gentleman who was on the line when my husband answered the phone.  He sounded very young but he started by saying hello, my name is 'Omar' may I please speak to the person responsible for the electric bill?  He repeats exactly, word for word in the same thick accent....Hello, my name is 'Omar' may I please speak to the person responsible for the electric bill?  The young man comes-back with.....Excuse me sir, MY name is  'Omar' & I would like to speak with the person who is responsible for paying your electric bill.  Husband says.......Excuse me sir, MY NAME is 'OMAR' & I would like to speak with the person who is responsible for paying your electric bill.  The young man then replies, sir do you really have 'Omar' for your name?  Husband repeats.....sir do you really have 'Omar' for your name?  Silence for a full minute!  And on it went........I gotta give the guy credit since he never slipped from 'polite' but persistent' mode.  Neither did the supervisor he put on the line about 10 minutes into the "conversation"!  
Ok, I am more sleep deprived than I previously thought.  Thank you for the opportunity to vent a little!
Almost forgot.  I noticed someone mentioned they had this number come up with a 011 exchange.  I had it come-up sort of like that twice last week.  There wasn't a total phone number but it came-up twice with 011 as the only thing written in my message to me. Has anyone else had this happen and if so do you have any idea what it's supposed to mean?

GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER...IM AT WORK.....WHEN I ANSWER THE CALL IT WAS HOLD MUSIC....I HUNG UP AND PROCEEDED TO LOOK UP THE NUMBER AND HERE IS WHERE I ENDED UP...SERIOUSLY PEOPLE NEED TO GET A LIFE AND STOP ANNOYING OTHERS WITH THESE NON SENSE CALLS THAT ARE POINTLESS AND CAN CAUSE ME TO LOOSE MY JOB IF I CONTINUE TO RECIEVE THEM!

I got a call from these retards and told my wife to ignore them or tell them to bother someone else.

Have No idea who the heck keeps calling me from this number, but they are starting to really Tick me Off ! Morning, Afternoon and Night ! And they never say anything to boot ! Next time they are getting a Fog Horn in their ear !  :-)

i got a phone call some indian accent that was very hard to understand.  she claimed she worked for a gas/electric co.  she said if i switch to her co it would save 15% on my bill.  I didn't agree to anything I told her I would call her back.  No one answers the phone

got the call. let it go to the machine.no message. when i called back they wanted me to hold for next  rep but i just hung up. call was around 11 am.

Got a call from this number yesterday (11/16/11) on my cell phone. Checking call log on my cell, I see that they call about once a week. I have never answered the call or called back, but I'm guessing it's the yahoos that called everyone else posting here. One thing different this time, the number had a 011 prefix.

Just dialed the number, got a message "Thank you for calling, the next available representative will be with you shortly", then on hold. Didn't bother to wait, as I am happy with my current energy service lol.

I got the same call from the same number. the person said his company is offering me a discount on my Gas bill for the entire year. he said that he is from Major Engery, after my asking so many questions. he wanted my account number from my gas bill. I have an idea what this is about. I think he is with one of those energy companies if he get your account number he can sign you up with out your permission. dont give it to him. who knows what other information he can get.

They manage to always know when I'm sleeping. This number has woken me up several times around 9:00 a.m. I work a 10-hour night shift so I'm not a happy camper when it comes to disturbing my sleep for something unimportant. And it obviously IS unimportant because there is just dead silence on the other end!

They call, I answered, no one spoke so I hung up. I don't have time for someone or machine that will not speak after 10 seconds.

I don't know. Our caller id shows they've called ten times (so far) and have not left one message.

Kepp getting calls in the afternoon from this number.  He said his name is Jack William and had a thick accent.  Said the name of the company is Major Energy and that I could save money on my National Grid bill.  Told him I would call him back.  He gave me the number and an extension.  I called back and he answered without my having to dial his extension or ask for him by name.  I'm going to call National Grid to see if they are aware of this.

Been getting calls by this number every day for the last 2 weeks, I called it back today and it was a home enegry saving company the guy said. Told him to have the stop calling my number. Hope it helps!

I keep getting this call about the same time every night. Last night I did a phone search on the number and it is a wirless number out of New Jersey - under a name I could not pronounce or spell - these people are really ticking me off.  I called the phone company and am going to block the number - but would sure like to know who they are and how they got my number and what their intentions are.
