I was checking my bank account online this morning and found a charge for $19.95.  I called the 1-877-442-5710 and they said it was Family Safety Report.  They ask me my address and phone # which didn't match theirs.  They finally found an old address we at lived at.  This was on a joint account with my sister, who died 2 mos ago.  The company said they would refund my $19.95 in 2 business days.  I will watch and see what happens.  People have hard enough time making ends meet today without people frauding them.  The person I spoke with gave me a name of Bianca.

Same happened to me also. I was getting charged $29.95 X 3 times every month for services I have no idea. I called them and they do not have my address correctly or in full. I had to cancel my first credit card because of this. But they managed to get hold of my new card also. I asked them how did they do it, you would not believe, they hung up on me.


They are really dangerous.

same happened to me,  charging $29.95 on three services every motnth. I spoke with them and they even do not have a complete address of mine. I had to cancel the first credidt card because of this. When I asked how they managed to get my new card access, you would not believe, they just hung up on me.

These are really dangerous people.

If anyone goes for a class action suit, count me in.  Same exact thing happened to me.  According to them, I clicked on an ad (which I never do), so I thought it was the original site I had intended to go to that I heard about on Oprah that day.  I am sooooooooooooo angry!

Don't get mad. Get even! I got ripped off too. So, call two ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICES. First is Nebraska AG, because supposedly the physical address of "Adaptive Marketing" is 9500 W. Dodge Road, Omaha, Nebraska, 68114 (no phone). The Neb. AGs main office number is (402) 471-2682; Fill out a complaint at www.ago.ne.gov/consumer/forms.htm.

The second call goes to the ILLINOIS ATTORNEY GENERAL'S office, because that's where the 877 number originates from, and "Family Safety Report" lists their address as P.O. Box 5152, Des Plaines, IL 60017-5152, 877-442-5710. IL AG'S CONSUMER FRAUD HOTLINE IS: (800) 386-5438 (Chicago office, because Des Plaines is a suburb). Fill out a complaint form at: www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/conscomp.pdf.

PUT THESE PEOPLE OUT OF BUSINESS, AND IN JAIL, because this scam has clearly bilked hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, off unsuspecting consumers.

I think that I understand and the people that run the company may not be totally at fault, but it is a legal scam. Let's say I have a product that I want to sell,and others also have a product they want to sell. If I market mine It costs alot, but if I piggy back on someone elses and allow them to piggy back on mine, then we get alot of exposure,Right? T.V. time, newspaper adds,magazines, etc.are too costly. But lets say that when I have a t.v. add for "X"and you call to buy it and the operator on the other end has been programmed to add other products to your order at a very cheap rate since you are paying by c.c.then that operator is a sales person and gets % of what she can get you to agree to and to present it in a slick way then you have also agree to that other products terms and conditions. It goes like this: Hello sir, thank you for responding to our current offer on your t.v. may I have your name and the # of the credit card you will be using and your product will be arriving at your res. in approx.3 working days unless (and this is where the $$$ add up)you want overnight mail which is only $ more after you give all your info ,confirm everything etc.,then they add to your purchase bells and whistles they tell you for just a few more $$.Then they ask that they have a special that they are told that they must tell you about. Because of your purchase this week only you are able to get a freemembership in a vacation co. that is prommoting a trip to MAUI room and board and car rental with unlimited miles for $$ (which soiunds too good to be true because you can take another couple for twi  o weeks and it is a dog friendly 5 star hotel beachfront etc. for just a processing fee of a mere pitance $ which sir you can cancel any time, so can she put you down for that? Somewhere in that sales pitch you were sold some familyalertprotectosite.puck that you forgot. the 49.99 utinsels or records that youwere buying has turned into $$$$$$$$$$ or so because "you can cancell any time" WRONG.You may have cacelled some, but the ones people forget is where they capitalize. They calculate that even if they have to refund all the $$$$$$$ it will take months, meanwhile there is alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in their account drawing interest it aint just sitting there, it is drawing interest and that ,my frind is as they say "THAT". YOU can figure the rest. I once was buying a cream from a well knownactress who was pitching it for less than 50 bucks after all the talk I was ove $300 and I cancelled everything then and there. I am glad that I found the complaints,I'm cancelling my enrollment monday.

I never used Intellius services. However, I did join ClassMates.com on line. I received a bill on my credit card from Family Safety Report that corresponds with the day of my ClassMate.com membership. I was able to cancel the FSR membership and get the charge removed from my credit card by calling my credit card company. I have been unsuccessful in contacting ClassMates regarding the Intellius billing to my credit card.

I have been getting billed by this "Family Safety Report" for months now.  I just discovered the charge though, my bad.  Can't reach the phone number.  I had to report it to the CC fraud dept and close my account.  I used the Intellius people search once too.  Guessing it is some box that you must uncheck or it auto signs you up for whatever it is they do.

Looked through  my bank account and there was a $1 charge and a $19.95 charge. The wife looked up possible child offenders and agreed to the $1 charge to see what may be around our neighborhood. Called the number and got a rude lady that said all charges would be refunded within 3 business days. I asked her if the site automatically enrolled you into a membership and she said yes. I went off on her and told her a few things I thought about that. Nothing on the website says you will be enrolled automatically. If charges are not refunded within 3 business days I will be contacting my states Attorney General's office and filing a former complaint.

These guys at Intelius should all be locked up in jail.  What kind of scum would even work for such a company?  How can they get out of bed in the morning knowing they are working for a company that engages in intentional scams?  The answer is that people that engage in fraud have no ethics or morality.  All they care about is themselves and making a buck.  The people that work at Intelius are disgusting people!  I wonder how proud their parents or children would be if they knew where their child or parent worked and what they did to people.  I wonder if people at Intelius sit around and think its funny that they cheat people?

thank you so much for posting the number to call for a refund I had 3 charges of 29.95 each I guess they have upped the charges since these postings for 19.95 I had to call 2 different numbers to get charges taken off they say in 2 business days we will see....

I looked at my bank account just now and found 3 charges on my account for 29.95 each!!!!!  one from safety report one from pm identity and the third was from privacy matters.  After seeing all of the complaints i am so mad how they gave my card number to 3 other places. when i called safety report they were nice but it is obvious they do nothing but refunds all day what does that say...she would not take off the other two though,,,when I called pmidenity.com they said they would take the other two off in two days and when I mentioned safety report who I had just talked to the guy said I see they are all ready refunding you so they are together if he can see a refund request from 2 minutes earlier...

my husband used Intelius to look up information and we too had the family saftey report show up on out credit card - it has taken me three months to notice it (guess i should pay better attention to even the $20 charges) ... anyway, i called them and was suprised by the "press 1 to cancel service" option - that makes me exceedingly skeptical .... they said they would cancel our membership and refund the money - we'll see ... i told my husband NOT to use them again ... and am passing the word on to others as well.

I didn't receive a call but I THINK I may have used the Intelius Search.  I did not authorize the membership and they have since charged me 2X and it just so happens the charges were enough to put my checking account over the limit and charge me a 32$ overdraft fee!!! I am contacting them and my bank tomorrow and freaking out.  I did get a call from this 18884005723 number, i bet it's the same company!

I recently had the same thing happen and was able to cancel ONE (I thought that was it) membership with a refund.  I just got my cc statement and another charge came from this Family Safety Report.  I called and the rep assured me that there were only TWO memberships signed up for.  My best advice...STAY AWAY FROM INTELIUS.

I had the same crap happen to me.  Only when I called this number they could not match my name, phone number or address (which they could be using after we give it to them to sign us up for some other mess we never authorized!!!)   They wanted my credit card number and I refused so I went through Capital 1.  They refunded my money.  This was July 24.  After viewing my bill tonight I saw where they charged me in June too.  So again I called Capital 1 and they credited back again.  I dare them to charge me for August because this time my attorney will be contacting them instead of myself.  Beware and monitor your accounts closely!!!!!  Hopefully everyone has a CC company like Capital 1 which really was HASSEL FREE!

Back in June 2008, I used an on-line service called "Intelius" to provide me with detailed information on a phone number that I wanted more information on.  A few weeks later this mysterious $19.95 charge from "Family Saftey Report" appeared on my credit card statement. I didn't follow up right away and again noticed the charge on my statement. I could be wrong, but I have a hunch that if you used any on-line verification service that retrieves information on your behalf from "Intelius" this so called "mysterious" charge will appear on your credit card a few weeks later. I contacted the 877-442-5710 number to learn that "per the terms of my contract" with them (I didn't authorize this charge) they could only refund the last month's charge and nothing else.  I was given the address below by the Family Safety Report supervisor after requesting a copy of the on-line transaction I allegedly authorized giving this company permission to charge my credit card $19.95 monthly.  The address I was given is:

Thank God for you guys.  My bank was giving me the run-around to reveal the entire phone number.  I knew this was through Intelus, but could not find information for the service OR the %^*&# phone number ANYWHERE on their site!  Nice!  So, I just called and a fellow who barely spoke english (who was NOT as nice as the operators noted in the posts above) gave me the standard line about refunding my $19.95 within two to three business days.  (I will be watching for that refund like a HAWK!!!)  I asked for the previous month's fee to be refunded as well and got the response of "we can't do that."  Why?  I asked.  "Because you were covered by the service all last month!"  They have GOT to be kidding!?!?!?!?  The "service" I did not know I had --- and I STILL don't even know what it is.

What a rip off!  No membership number, no e-mail or snail mail notification of membership benefits . . . nothing.  Just a debit from my account for $19.95.  Here I am unemployed trying to make every penny last as long as possible and the day when I needed gas money . . . I discover my account is short $19.95 for something I didn't order.  I called the number that Joyce provided in her post on this site and was told by "Jackie" that my "membership" would be canceled and I would be credit for this month's debit only.  (It started in June but my bank kept giving me the run around about it.)  What's really sad about this is how many of our servicemembers are falling prey to this.  I served in the Navy where the internet and mail aren't exactly reliable services when you are in the middle of the ocean.  By the time a sailor or soldier finds out about this he/she could be out of a good chunck of change.  There has to be more that can be done than just complaining and being credited one month's worth of payments.

I have pretty much the same story as you all--ordered a report from Intelius and somehow got signed up for this Family Safety Report thing.  I called the number and they agreed to cancel my membership and refund my money without any resistance.  Obviously, they know they're scamming people, otherwise they would put up a fight!

Found a charge from Family Safety on my bank account.  Searched the number listed with it, and came upon this site.  Apparently if you ever use Intelius they will automatically set you up with an account for this other thing (Family Safety Report) and bill you without you even knowing after their 7 day trial period.  They were very friendly and willing to cancel my subscription and give me my money back.  However if you ever use Intelius again she said the same thing will happen as it's an add on to the service they give you, but without any notice they will do it.
