I called the H&R Block main line (1-800-HRBLOCK).
The representative told me that this is one of their calling centers. The man that called me said the IRS rejected my return and the main line confirmed that this was correct. Any IRS issues from HR BLOCK come from this number.

I had an automated message on my cell phone from this number. I am naturally a skeptical person when it comes to returning calls to a number given by the caller whenever it is regarding any personal information. So what I did was call my local H&R Block where I filed my taxes to inquire if there was a problem with my taxes, and to my surprise there was. I am in no way vouching for this number, as it may have been a coincidence that there was a rejection code with my taxes while receiving the automated call. Always go out of your way to call or mail businesses at their main numbers and addresses or with the person you have corresponded with directly first.

This company has called and sent letters claiming to be H & R Block, to tell me there is an issue with my return. After refusing to give her any of my info, The woman who called eventually told me she did not work FOR HR Block, but was just calling on behalf of them... I called my local office and they confirmed that they are not behind the calls, the only phone call you would get from then is your actual tax pro BEFORE a return was filed with the IRS . Do not give your info to them, it is a scam.  If you tell them to take you off their calling list, you shouldn't get anymore calls!

i just got that call..its not a scam... its a robo call from HR BLOCK..I just callled the office i went to and they said  if  i were to pick up the phone then someone would have told me to call the offiice i had my taxes prepared at..HR  ERROR IN PREPARATIONS THEY SAID

I too got a call from 877-443-0949 which went to my voicemail. They were telling that recently you filed your taxes with H&R Block and there is some problem with your filing status and asked me to call back. I called and someone at the other end asked about my DoB, Zip, address and other details, i got suspicious and tell her that i will call again, i googled and found similar scams.
I then called my local H&R block office and they said they have no information about any call, then i reached the H&R main office and the lady asked me everything that happened and told me that she will call back after some investigation. H&R Block called me and told that there is no records from H&R block about any call to me about any issue with my tax filing and seems like a scam. They asked me to report it to IRS about this scam call.
Please be cautious before giving any personal info to any unknown number, better find out the number yourself or call some local office.

This is not H & R Block - I just called their corp headquarters and told them this number has been calling claiming to be H & R Block.  They said it is not them and do not answer call or give any info to them

I just filed my taxes yesterday at H&R Block, and got a message this morning from the tax guy I met with saying there was an error.  Then I got this call a couple hours later...  Not sure if it's legit or not after reading comments, but I'll wait to talk to my tax guy!

I received a letter stating that I should call that same number.  But after googling the number I found it was a scam. I called hrb and ask them how someone could get my information 3 weeks after filing my taxes with them.

I received a call from this  number today. Same thing as everyone else. Her name was Jessie and needed me to call her back at HR block bc there was a problem with my tax return (that hasn't even been filed yet) lol so I called my local office and she verified that no one had tried to contact me. It's a major SCAM sounds like to me!!

I received a phone call today from this number the women on the phone told me she was from H&R Block and there was an error with my tax return and she needed to know information to try to fix the problem I told her I didn't feel comfortable giving her my information over the phone and I will contact my local office after I told her that she just hung up on me

THIS IS A SCAM! If they were really calling about your taxes they would know your info already. Also the buisness hours when you call them state they are open 10am to 6pm eastern time. But yet they called me yesterday at 11pm hum....

I received a call from 877-443-0949 a woman named Daphney said she was calling from H&R Block and needed to verify some information because there were errors on my return. I asked her for a call back number and she started studdering and I told to go F herself.

got a call from this number April 18 2013, said she was from H&R block and needed personal info because of a problem with my tax form   I hung up and called my agent there was no problem

Received a call from this number, Caller ID showed UNKNOWN.  I on't answer calls that block their number.  Based on the two other responses I haven't decided whether or not to call them back.

Received a call from 877 443 0949.  Caller said he was from the Internal Revue and wanted ID numbers on my tax return that was prepared by H&R Block because there was an error.

My son just received the same type of call from this phone number. Unfortunately he had given them most of his info before my wife overheard and stopped him. Now what do we do?!

They called at 11 PM last night from 877-443-0949 saying they were with H&R Block & wanted me to give them my SSN & DOB....1st H&R Block would NEVER call at 11 PM at night & they NEVER start a conversation with what is your SSN & DOB.  DO NOT give them your info - I think it is a scam.

I received the same call and the first thing they wanted was my SSN. When I told them I was not going to do that, she told me to call my office. My office had no idea why someone would call me.

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!! never give your information out over the phone. as an H&R Block employee we never ask for that information and we prefer our clients to come in with the any information we may need for the return. We DO NOT like getting information over the phone. Please DO NOT give them your information. yes they may sound like they are from us but they are not. Also please be aware that people can get your information from many sorces so please be careful.

IT IS VERY SUSPICIOUS SO BE VERY VERY CAREFUL.. I GOT AA CALL FROM THEM WHEN I HAVEN'T EVEN FILED WITH H&R BLOCK FOR OVER 3 YEARS!! I CONTACTED H&R BLOCK AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY INFO. WHEN U CALL THEM THEY WANT ALL OF YOUR INFO. SSN, ADDRESS ETC. BE CAREFUL

I received this same call today.  The caller sounded very unprofessional so I thought it was a scam.  I called my local H&R Block office, and it was legitimate.  My tax preparer said it appears someone has stolen my identity.  She and I completed my returns last night, and she said she had a message this morning when she got to work that someone had already used my social security number for a tax return.  She will resubmit tonight to see if there is a glitch.  If so, everything should go through properly tonight, and she will call me first thing tomorrow morning.  If not, I will have to go downtown to the IRS Department to work through this issue.  She said it's happening more and more.  The fraudulent person picks a social security number at random, enters his/her information (other than the SSN), and when the return is processed, the money inadvertently gets channeled into their checking account rather than the real taxpayer's account.  This could be bad...

They called me twice.

They called me today after I got off the phone I went to H&R Block and they told me that there is no problem with my return and it has already been accepted by the IRS... I feel this is a scam be aware and don't give them any info if they call you just say you'll go to H&R Block and deal with it I'm person

I called for a client. They stated I would have to provide client's social security number before they could assist me.  I flatly refused.

I talked to them and they knew info only H&R block would know. It's all good. They are just trying to fix a problem with your tax returm.
