Just received this very same snail mail thing but the name this outfit uses for Oregon residents is HomeServe USA Repair Management Corp. NO ADDRESS. The only thing they give is a PO box, and it changes for every city, apparently. These guys are pretty slippery. They say they are affiliated with AMT Warranty Corp. These are just bogus insurance companies run by the same guys. They have sent me this crap twice per year for 4 years, since my husband died. I received the latest letter and acceptance form on June 5, 2014. The letter is post-dated June 21, 2014. That is 3 weeks later than I received it. A warning visible through the clear window says, "Response Requested Within: 30 days". The bottom of the letter says, "Please respond before June 25, 2014." The prepaid mailing was sent from zip code 19612, which is Reading, Pennsylvania. These crooks send this crap all over the US. They have all kinds of dodges; in my case, they claim to offer warranty protection for repair of home water lines. I researched this outfit online. There is a long list of complaints against them. They have a track record of false or misleading advertising, pretending to be affiliated with government and city water companies, and slow response times to claims filed with them. The warranty they offer me is $4.99 per month or $14.97 per quarter, or $59.88 per year for 12 months of service, but the fine print says there is a "waiting period of a month" so you actually get only 11 months of service the first year. Lots of people said they had trouble getting money for a claim at all. Some individuals claim they got satisfaction, such as the person who said they replaced a water heater for $95. This is NOT a startup company. Their business page claims their revenue is $100 to $200 million per year and that they employ several thousand people. The vice president of this outfit, Myles Meehan, claims he has been in the insurance business for 30 years. The complaints go back several years on the internet. In 2010 the company had a run-in with the Better Business Bureau, who said they had to stop using misleading advertising practices. One person complained that the guy who called on the phone refused to tell what the contract specified, insisting that payment had to be made first, and was mocking and rude when he did not get an instant bite. In fact, the refusal to let customers see what is actually in a contract is a mark of their SOP and no wonder, because if people knew what was in the contract they would not buy it. The contract rules out so many things that might happen to a water line that the contract is as good as useless. Please everybody, do what ought to be done--report them for fraud. I did. For mailed stuff, you can file a report of mail fraud online with the US Post Office. Hopefully if they get enough complaints, the USPO will run an investigation on them

Have never gotten a letter from these people, just calls and I never pick up the phone with a 877 area code to it. I let it go to my answering machine and this time they hung up before the machine kicked in. I will delete as I do all the others..

I know that Homeserve is a legitimate company for two reasons.
1) Somebody works for them that lives withing 5 minutes from my area.
2) They took over the accounts that had belonged to the previous utility for this area.

However I am nonetheless suspicious of any number that doesn't display a company name. A prime example was a call that claimed to be the local cable company. In that case I called their local number and gave them the caller id info and the number that I was told to call in the message. The customer service rep told me that the numbers were affiliated with their company.
The simple is that people should be suspicious of caller id information.

Never got a letter like everyone else, just about 4 phone calls and never picked up and let the machine do so. Of course nobody said anything, so deleted the thing as I always do.

Homeserve - Protecting Homeowners in Connecticut  is what their Logo and Stationary say.

They are trying to protect the water lines running to your home, if you are a homeowner.  I have no idea how or if they are affiliated with your water company.

It's probably a warranty company looking for a start up nationally. I doubt it's a franchise yet.

WSLprotectionplan.com is their web address

This area of connecticut has it's own water treatment plant, but we are not located where their office is located in Clinton, CT.
06413-9918

Plan Administrator
P.O. Box 452
Clinton, CT. 06413

The envelope this mailing came from is stamped with a advertising stamp located in Zip code 19612 Permit #5003

The front of the envelope is see thru and has Important information Enclosed typed on the outside of it.

I'm not sure these kind of network marketing things work.

Or how they are affiliated with your water company.

At the same time this area of the country has had horrendous telephone wire tapping? that all of the residents were complaining.  We had party lines for quite some time, with some threatening phone calls of gross mobility in nature.

Be care and investigate further.

Protecting homeowners in Connecticut

WSL Protection Plan for $4.99 they will protect your water lines. They are not the water company. It looks like insurance for the water lines to your house. This is not my house, but the mailer is in my name and not the home owners.

They are located in Norwalk, Connecticut. But the return address plane administrator is located at
Plan Administrator
P.O. Box 452
Clinton, CT. 06413-9988

They probably have a list of service people that work on water lines or their own contractors.

Do you know you need to check with your home-owners Insurance. In Kentucky The MSD is required to repair pipes 5 feet from the sidewalk towards your house and my home-owners will pay the rest. Only my sewer lines in back of house will be fixed by my home-owners Insurance. Do a little checking, this Home-serve has been calling 2 to 3 times a day. They are ripping off people because they hope you wont check with your Insurance.

They called again today at 1:48 pm. The caller ID was still UNAVAILABLE and was again blocked by our call blocker. I regret that National Grid transferred the contract which we had with them, which included annual heating and central air conditioning tuneups, to HomeServe USA. Because we have this one contract, they keep sending letters offering "protection" for such things as gas lines, water lines, etc. As I stated previously, it makes no sense for the caller ID of a legitimate company to be UNAVAILABLE.

I HOPE THEY KEEP SENDING NOTICES BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO PAY THE POSTAGE WHEN I SEND IT BACK :)

The terms and conditions are online. www.yourserviceplans.com It worked fine for me. I'm glad at least you researched bc others say scam just bc they don't know about it. I used it and it worked great for me. I saw the Bbb thing too. It was under 300 complaints all about the letter in 3 years. Not many at all on using their service so I tried it. Every company has complaints bc they serve humans. You can never please everyone. I'm replying bc it really bothers me that I had a good experience but people who don't even research it are trying to give it a bad name. We all have gone insurance but don't call it a scam. And nothing ever happens to the home that's covered. It's always stupid stuff like my water heater and sewage backups that my Farmers Insurance won't cover.

Why would a "scam" not accept your money? Scam artist normally take your money and disappear. I don't think anyone really knows what a scam actually is. I must have scammed them bc u got my water heater replaced by them for about $95. It was legit for me each time I called. However, I don't like too much that they don't do electric heat

Not a fake company and not a scam. Really, really bad attempt at scamming for $4.99 a month ($59.88 for the year) if it were. You should just read and research things first b4 you automatically declare it (and someone's last name they couldn't pick) a scam. I don't need everything as it doesn't happen too often but I have used the water heater replacement and sewer coverage. Imo, it's pretty good bc I didn't have a deductible for my replacements. Tbh, I had the water heater thing for about a year and a half and had to be replaced. I'd paid approximately $95 into it when they replaced my water heater which costs them about $670. I canceled it after that since it was new. Someone isn't running their "scam" the right way if it worked for me. Seems like i scammed them actually

Keep getting calls from Unavailable -17183223300.  Never leaves a number.  Very annoying.  If it was legitimate, why not leave a message or why show unavailable? - a legitimate company name should appear.  They call multiple times.  Will seek a way to block these type of calls

If you contact this number 1-888-752-6740 (given on the website of HomeServe) you will be connected to a ghetto-accented African male voice (he said his name was Derrick). On being asked, Derrick assures you that HomeServe is an associate company of AQUA. However, AQUA's own letter insists that HomeServe is an "independent" company. This is truly a scam that the Utilities Commissions all over the USA should be investigating.

If HomeServe USA is an "INDEPENDENT" company, why on earth is AQUA paying for mailing out HomeServe's brochures? The PA Utilities Commission should be doing its job by coming down upon such blatant scams.

Treat such mailings from the  AQUA / HOMESERVE syndicate just as you would treat an email from a Nigerian well-wisher informing you that she has  $ 3 million to donate and that she is searching for you. This is just a prime example of organized crime.

As a Senior Citizen I find it very convenient to maintain a special circular file cabinet to place all the important letters I receive, like the ones for my free cruises, or free offers, or money that I may have won, or even the nice letter that I got today from the people that care about me at HomeServe. I keep this file cabinet right next to my fireplace so I can feed the fire on these cold Michigan winters! (The calls are blocked so now I get letters, witch are useful.)

So sad, my husband and I are in our 70,s and yes they got us for the $59.95 last year and now call constantly even though we tell them to stop. No, these blood suckers will not get another dime. Do you think their Mothers are proud of what they do?

They called again yesterday, and the call was blocked. The only reason we do business with them is that they took over the service contract we had with National Grid. I agree that it makes no sense for the caller ID of a legitimate company to be UNAVAILABLE. Nor does service protection for things like inside gas lines, water lines, etc., seem like something a legitimate company would offer. On the other hand, people do buy "extended warranties" which are usually a rip-off.

We live in a suburb of Boston. HomeServe USA took over service contracts from National Grid, which we have had since it was Boston Gas. In addition to providing emergency repairs for our heating and central air conditioning, what we pay each year includes a free annual tuneup of each system. This seems to be worth the cost. Unfortunately, they keep contacting us to add protection for other systems in the house, such as interior gas lines. I have have never had a need for such a repair, nor has anyone I have ever known. Other coverage they offer includes "interior plumbing and drainage". Why would anyone pay an annual fee for this, which over time can be a substantial amount, instead of merely calling a plumber in the rare event of a needed repair? Since we do business with them they are not violating the national do not call list, but we have blocked their number to avoid this nuisance.

If they are representing themselves as Homeserve, which is a legitimate company, why do they call several times a day, don't identify their name on caller ID, and don' t leave a message? Something's not quite right here.

Great idea! Let them know they have a "live" email and mailing address. Smart ... NOT. This is just a sure-fire method to find yourself on a "Tier 1" junk mail list (ie, the known LIVE addresses).

Septic tank? You mean that large concrete box in the ground with holes at both ends and no moving parts? h .. sure. They go "bad" all the time ... but it isn't "repairs" you need, it's pumping out on a regular basis! If your pipes are freezing, they are not properly installed. You should get the contractor into court until he does the job correctly.
