a few days ago I used the advice of FixItChik and so far the daily calls from this number seem to have stopped.
it must work because not a single day would go by without these anals calling.
A big thanks to FixItChik for something that really works.  advise everyone to try this.
can hardly wait for the others to call so I can give it to them the same way.
is this the fix that everyone is looking for? maybe so. I am satisfied so far. Lets all try it !

Sorry this is kind of long but I must share our success and hope it helps others.

The phone would ring at all hours of the day and we never knew who was calling. We had this landline for 20 years and things have gotten much worse in the past few years. I hated the phone. We put it in an unused room and set up the answering machine and turn off the ringer. Friends complained we didn't answer the phone so I had to fight back. We got caller id. Right away it showed many calls every day from 877-469-8290. In the first 3 week period of logging this number they called about 60 times.

The reason I have picked this number to reply with this info is because the callers from this number have been the most abusive, calling up to 8 times a day. We have many pages of logs. since I have used this method only about 6 times the calls are seldom now. In the past few weeks we only have about 3 unknown callers. Much better than half a dozen a day total like before. I kind of miss the thrill of doing this but we are happy they have stopped calling.

I knew there had to be a way to get back at the tards. I tried telling them to stop calling and everything else I could think of. I know these low-lifes record ALL of their calls so here is what I did. You MUST answer the phone when they call. Answer the phone with a very loud HELLO so their autodialer computer knows theres a human on the line and connects you to a rep. If you don't get get a rep within 1-2 seconds say HELLO again LOUDLY. When a tard gets on the line they will usually ask for someone by name. DO NOT ANSWER ANY OF THEIR QUESTIONS OR GIVE ANY INTO OF ANY TYPE. Right away you need to BOLDLY ask this question. "IS THIS CALL BEING RECORDED?". They will usually comply with the law and say that it is being recorded for training and or quality control purposes, (Max-BS/Liars). At that point you must tell them "NO RECORDING." Change the words to be as strong as you like. What you have just done is deny them authorisation to record your voice and the next thing they say is that they will have to "terminate" the call and will usually hang up right away as if they cant get info from you they can't make any money and want to end the call as fast as possible and get on to the next victim. Once you do this maybe a couple of times they seem to get the message that they cannot speak to you as you deny permission to record every time.

1. Answer phone saying "HELLO", loudly.
2. Forcefully ask if the call is being recorded. They should say YES.
3. Deny permission to record. They have always told me that they will have to terminate the call then its over, no more questions, no more answers.
4. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
  ***Repeat as needed and NEVER give them any additional info. Deny permision to record is all it takes.

We used to get many calls every day with spoofed CID from states/cities everywhere. Even some spoofed as local calls very close to this area so they are trying every method possible to trick us into answering. It is very strange that nearly ALL of these calls stopped on the same exact day. Our log proves the ending date they stopped calling. We used to think there were many places harassing us but now believe its just one due to how abruptly so many calls have stopped on the same day.

This should work for most calls as these days it seems that almost every business is recording your voice and often times they wont even tell you so YOU MUST ASK FIRST. Just remember to NEVER give them your name or the name of anyone else or if you do or do not know the person. No matter what they say, only say what is necessary to deny the recording. If everyone did this I know it would hurt them real hard right where it counts. What if everyone always did this?

calls 4 times a day, no one is there when i answer, have been calling for 2 months.

877-469-8290 is a collection company called Allied Interstate.  They represent Capital One, and probably others.

This number calls my home back to back from 8am to 8pm how can I put a stop to this ?

This number is for Alied Interstate.  They are a collection agency for Capital One Credit Cards.
Maybe other cards also but don't know that for sure.

Called at 5 am. Wrong number. They called my house phone which is a land line with a local area code. Allied Interstate doesn't check to see what the local time is for the area code they are calling. Nothing worse than getting 3 hours of sleep because of some careless company calling you by mistake.

They call at all hours of the day. When I pick up, they hang up. Rude and annoying!

this number has called 9 times!!!  no mssg.  so irritating.  i don't answer toll free calls. they better leave some kind of mssg. or stop calling.

These people call at 8 a.m. Sunday and thru out the day. They are trying to collect old debt, over 12 year old debt discharged in a bankruptcy of my ex! I took the time to try to explain this to the girl who sounded 12, she tried to tell me I still owed it. They still continue to call.

I keep getting calls all hours of the day.  I finally answered twice and then nobody answers even though they have not hung up  yet.

THIS NUMBER HAS BEEN CALLING MY PHONE 2-3-4 TIMES A DAY , I FINALLY ANSWERED THEY SAID IT WAS FOR A CRUISE AND THEY HAD SPOKEN TO MY HUSBAND EARLIER THAT DAY AND HE WAS VERY INTERESTED IN THE CRUISE .  FUNNY THING IS MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN IN JAIL SINCE "JULY" SO WHY ARE THEY CALLING ME !  SO I TOLD HER AND HUNG UP ! A

I don't know who or what this company wants but I'm not interested.  If I keep getting these calls I'm reporting the number to the Attorney General's Office.

I just got caller ID on my land line so I can start returning the attacks. The first call came up was 877-469-8290 so I will begin here. I have  been on the do not call list forever yet the as5h0les keep calling. My plan is to make money on this. If anyone has info on how to find a lawyer and start the criminal harassment charges or whatever else I can legally do against all these idiots that harass us every day. We only get about 1 in 10 legitimate callers and they will be identified and dealt with starting right now today.
This site should have links to lawyers that handle this kind of problem. I will search for it next or anyone kindly chime in if you know how to do it or where info is found to take this to the next level.

btw, I have always paid my bills, never had any collection, and my credit score it right about 840 so I should NEVER ever get calls from places such as collection if that's who is calling but I am in full attack mode and will look forward to getting settlement checks someday hopefully soon.

They just called again, exactly 45 minutes from the last call. of course they hang up again. The best part is that they have no idea their harassing calls are being monitored and recorded and will be used against them hopefully soon. I felt like picking up and b1tch1ing them out but I must exercise self control and gather evidence against them. Once I have some evidence on who they are then I will start picking up the phone but not speaking a word just to see what happens then.

Never had any collection against me and I'm on the "do not call list" forever so I should NEVER get any harassing calls.

Thats really what it is. Harassment in the First Degree. A planned attack against me that will backfire on them.

I bet they all come here regularly because they know they are scum of the earth. They probably didn't finish school so they have to take a sh1tty job harassing others because McDonalds and/or Walmart wasn't hiring that day. heheh at least I can get a chuckle out of that.

Well I finally have some insight into who's making these call on my work phone!  Clearly they have the wrong number.  They call my office phone 7-8 times per day, starting around 8am and im not sure what happens after i leave.  no messages and when I pick up, no one says anything!  I worked on a saturday afternoon, and they called twice then.  Im going to turn their number over to our company's legal dept.

Please stop the harrassment of these calls. The computer system calls all day and all night. Nobody answers when you pickup the phone. If the se calls do not stop, I will file a complaint and hire an attorney. As of today, I getting records of the phone calls for my defense.

Got a call from them and they left no message.  Called them after reading this extensive list of complaints.  Asked for my name and would not give it.  Told them I had searched the number on the internet and that I wanted my number removed.  He said they were Allied Interstate calling on behalf of Capital One.  I told them I have no credit cards, and therefore can not be in debt to Capital One or any credit provider.  Took my number, said the call may be recorded, and that someone may call me to verify my request to stop calling.  What a bunch of BS!

Called me 10 times today, sometimes minutes apart. They call early Sunday mornings and on weekends. I blocked the number on my cell phone but this is definitely harrassment and I don't even know who they are or what they want!

Calls all the time at the job.  Never says who or what company.  When the call is picked up, dead air, then a click.  It must be a call for one of my co-workers because I have nothing past due.  The caller ID shows up "unavailable".  This is annoying and must be stopped

Most all cell phones have number blocking, you can either look in the manual or call your provider and they can help you with it. I don't have a smart phone and I can block any number I want.

This is probably just a big scammer...mostly just a pain. I'll see if I can pass this info/number on to the Attorney General's office.

This number just called at 6:15 AM. Yes, IN THE MORNING. Is that even legal?!?! I didn't answer, so I have no idea who it is, because it shows up as "Unavailable" on my caller I.D.
