They call in the evening then a computer voice says, sorry I called the wrong number

They called me at 8:30pm on a Sunday; when I answered a recorded woman's voice said, "My mistake, sorry about that" and hung up.  When I called back tI got a recording that said, "To be removed from our list, press 1.  To take advantage of our 1.9% offer and free equipment please stay on the line for an account representative."

Received a call after 8 pm dst.
Recorded messenger (female) states
  "My mistake, sorry" (and hangs up)

Unlike computer viruses, telephone viruses seem harder to fight.
Does anyone know of software that can be installed on a phone to block these calls?

Call came to a recently installed business line...answered the line, automated voice said:  Sorry, my mistake, and then disconnected.

Had a call from this number to my office @ 8:05PM 6-20-07, have caller ID, and knew it was probably one I should not answer. Picked up only to hear: "Sorry, my mistake...", an obvious automated response.

called business# at 8:36 pm CDT sun 6/7/07

I wasn't home when I got the call. I want to know, all these businesses that got calls from this number, are they calling an 800 number or regular phone number.

When I answered a computerized voice said: "My mistake wrong number" and hung up.

caller said:  I'm sorry wrong number and hung up.

cell phone rang with this # on ID when I answered, what sounded like a recording said "sorry my mistake" & hung up

call came in on biz line in my home office at 8:05 pm. I answered ...2 second delay...fembot voice says "sorry, wrong number."  I googled it and found this site.

Hang up as soon as i picked up!

8:30 Sunday evening. Hang up call on my cell phone. I am on the do not call list.

CALLED AND HUNG UP WHEN ANSWERED .

Called 8:50 pm and hung up when I answered.

Called our business phone & hung up when I answered, 7.43pm ADT.

Reapeated calls and hang-ups,  called business cell phone number this evening after 8.  Called business number and hung up repeated times, even after threatening to file against them.

I have received a lot of calls from this caller. They disconnect when you answer. If you call back their recording says that they offer low interest rates. Fill out FCC complaint form at

called me AGAIN at 8:05pm. this time on wed. same as usual - hung up as soon as i picked up the phone.

Called my unlisted cell phone at 8:15pm.  I am on the Do Not Call list.  They hung up when I answered.

Rash of numbers recently from 866 area code.

They called my business nuber at 8:03 pm.  This seems to be a pattern  When I answered there was nothing.  I called back to a fast busy signal.  Its obvious its a computer verifying that somebody picks up and records this information.  "Its a good number".

(877) 476-1010 calls regularly and hangs up, it just test to see if the number is valid and person answers. Some sort of marketing scheme I'm sure.
