I received this message, spoke to Verizon and they have no idea and can only veryify they, verizon, has nothing to do with the message. I spoke to Greater Omaha FCU and apparently many folks with Verizon and Sprint received these texts and it is a scam ..They advise not to even call that number.

There is not enough room below to put the entire message out. I can tell you I have no business or personal dealing the the company mentioned Greater Omaha FCU

I got this also, do you guys all have sprint? Just wondering if maybe there was a connection.

Call text as delivered to my phone:
Greater Omaha FCU Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 877-484-5093 to REACTIVATE your card.

Yep, got the scam text to my phone as well and keep my number pretty secure. It's obvious they are using a war dialer and if you call that number back, your going to get put on their "number valid" list. Some people will fall for this scam and there needs to be a full punishment of the law if these folks are actually in the US.
Kato 2009-10-02 02:14:14 Unknown
This is 100% scam. I got it as well. These people cannot think that we are all this dumb to call them back and give f'kng information to them especially when you don't even have an account with them. Hello?? Dummies!!

Tried to report the scam to the NE Attorney General... They do not provide an email address on their web site. I guess they don't want to be bothered. So I sent this via the Governor's email page:
"Since the Nebraska Attorney General will not supply their office?s email address, possibly your office could pass this along to them. A phone fraud is targeting Omaha cell phone users. A text message appears stating ?Greater Omaha FCU Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 877-484-5093 to REACTIVATE your CARD.? The phone number on Google lookup gets you: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-877-484-5093 The scam has had an alert issued by the Indiana Attorney General: http://www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/press/Relea ... eCenterFCU.html
The Nebraska Attorney General should take action immediately before some unwitting person gives these crooks their sensitive financial information."

I also just got a text saying it is from the Greater Omaha FCU and that my card had been deactivated. And that I need to call 877-484-5093to reactivate. Never heard of Omaha FCU and don't need anything done. But would like to know who this is.
Beks 2009-10-02 01:02:50 Unknown
I just got a text also only it doesn't show a from phone number. It says that it's from Greater Omaha FCU and that my card has been deactivated and I need to call 877-484-5093. I'm not an account holder nor am I going through any refinancing.
MMMMM 2009-10-02 01:02:21 Unknown
I just got the same text! I have never even heard of the Greater Omaha FCU, so immediately I figured it was a scam and googled it to see if anyone else got it...that's scary if people fall for it!

I just got one saying miy card was deactivated...how stupid do they think people are? Thanks for wasting a text...
ColtsHuskers 2009-10-02 00:41:41 Unknown
I just received the same message and I'm not trying to buy a house, or anything for that matter so they are not connected.
Speed 2009-10-02 00:35:45 Unknown
I'm not going through the process and got the text msg. I'm not a member of GOFCU, are you? Perhaps the first text was a mis-text and unrelated.
crazybuzz 2009-10-02 00:34:58 Unknown
Yup, it's got to be scammers! Wish I knew how to get them nailed to a wall.
Speed 2009-10-02 00:28:41 Unknown
I also just got a text advising that my card had been deact'd and to call the number. I have only had this cell for a little over a year, so figured it was for the previous person that had the number. Guess not. Again, not an account holder at Greater Omaha FCU.
Swarm 2009-10-02 00:27:27 Unknown
Yeah, I just got the text too and I would have to agree - its a scam. WTF? Why are random scammers texting me. And yes, it is a bank and someone needs to call the local news channel to investigate and to let the word out.
Matt 2009-10-02 00:07:22 Unknown
I called it for kicks. It's a phishing attempt. I made up a 16 digit number and all the other info. It's not even close to valid. If that was a real system tied into the bank, it would have known I didn't give it a real CC number.
CONCERNED 2009-10-01 23:38:00 Unknown
I just received a txt from a local #402-578-6584 stating "Hey whqtbdjrg". I responded who is this. Then a few minutes later get a txt from a unknown number stating "Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 1-877-484-5093. I called and it was an automated service requesting account info. i hung up. I am going through a refinance on my home and wondering if any one else is doing the same and if this in connected?
Justin 2009-10-01 23:32:39 Unknown
Was anybody able to get the full email address? Mine gets cut off at the "W".
CEH 2009-10-01 23:29:13 Unknown
Just got a message too. I don't even have an account with Greater Omaha Federal Credit Union. Is it even a real credit union? Who is going to report this scam to them and regulators?
Justin 2009-10-01 23:27:28 Unknown
http://www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/press/Relea ... eCenterFCU.html
They must have tried this in Indiana too. I just googled FCU Alert to get the above info. Definately a scam.
I almost wanna call just to screw with 'em.
Chris 2009-10-01 23:26:10 Unknown
Also just got a text from this. Hopefully no one falls for it
Former Omaha Girl 2009-10-01 23:02:56 Unknown
