Started getting these calls 2 weeks ago on my home phone while I am at work.  Tried to call them back but ran into the same problem that many others are going through with getting hung up on.  Funny thing is these people are pathetic, and to the max.  For one, the names are almost similar.  They are calling for someone named Erica and my first name is Eric and it seems we share the same last name.  So right off the bat, they got the sex wrong on the searches.  Second thing is, I've never used ATT services.  My current area, ATT merged with the main provider for my area about 10 years ago, but I was already with another company and have been for the last 20 years.  So I explained this politely to the first real person I got a hold of.  The lady I talked to get real ignorant with me and basically said I was lying and that I was Erica.  I let my irritation show, made sure my wife was out of earshot, and told this rude little hussy on the other side of the call that there was no way I was going to debase myself by becoming a woman and that I've had fun all my life being a guy.  You could just hear the shock on the other end of the line.  During the quiet, I informed her that Erica was the feminine version of my name, and it would be a shock to my family if I've been female all 39 years of my life and them not knowing it.  I actually think that got her thinking processes going and after a "thank you for calling back" message, she hung up.  Since my state allows civilians to record calls without getting permission, I had it all on tape and submitted it to the AG as well as follow up calls since the first one didn't seem to have updated the file as well as any of the follow up people.  I'm at the point that I'm in the process of hiring an attorney to handle this (through the Union) and filing harassment charges as they've ignored every collection rule that I'm familiar with and every rule of courtesy as they've started calling work and my friends.  My friends are getting a real laugh at it and have been questioning their intelligence when they call, but it has passed the point of annoyance with me.  The way it's looking, this company is going to be paying for my vacation this year as well as a good portion of my remodeling work I want to do this summer with the number of violations they ignored, especially for a debt that is not mine.

Called for someone with my wife's name. Told the caller my wife was next to me and she had no outstanding debts. He gave the last four numbers from a social security number and asked if it was my wife's no. I told him that it was not and he said they would not call again. We'll see.

similarly, my husband has been divorced for quite sometime and lost track of his x shortly thereafter, yet, despite us being married for over 6 yrs and having no contact w/his x for over a decade, I get this recorded call seeking information on her, but when I attempt to call it back, I get a "all circuits are currently busy" recording...

I received a call yesterday from this number, since it was not for me; I hung up.
Now I am really miffed!  I got another call 8 a.m. my time.  Same number, samer person that they are looking to collect monies owed.  
I got out my whistle and called them back.  I told the rep. that here is how I feel about being awakened at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning.  She had to listen to the whistle before I told her that I do not know the person she is wanting.  Told her I will report them to the FCC as well.  I will do that as soon as I finish here.
The FCC has an online complaint form and I plan to use it!
This is ridiculous.

Called @ 8:12pm on Oct. 10, 2012 asking for a specific member of our household. Caller identified himself as Brandon Webber, would only say it was a personal matter and refused leave a message.  I didn't give any information & requested they send something in the mail and not to call my number again.

I keep getting calls from 877-489-1148 (CCA Collection Company of America) for someone who does not live here... I'm an older fella, and disabled, and it is difficult for me to get up and go to the phone, particularly when it is for something like this... I have called and used their "automated person" to ask them to stop calling, but it has done no good... I don't owe them anything, and the person they are calling for doesn't live here. The only ones here are myself and my elderly wife.... I just want it to stop.

I've been receiving calls from these peoples for about 2 weeks now looking for some lady. When I called and told them to stop calling and that the lady they were looking for does not live here they started using profanity and insisted that I was lying and then demanded my social security number.  I assume they are a debt collector but when they started using profanity and then demanded my social security number, they have scam written all over the place.

I received a call from these people several times over the past few months.  Continue to tell them that I have no idea who the person is and to please stop calling me.  They say that they will remove my number but they just continue to call.  Finally, having had a belly full, told them that this person had died.

They have called here a couple of time's and they ask for someone that we don't even know and it's very hard to understand the name they are looking for. They have asked us to call them back and give a number. We don't as we have know idea of who they are or who they are looking for. Interesting how they would even have our number.
We've been getting a lot of strange calls within the past 6 months or so. Most never leaving any type of message, so we don't answer the phone and just leave the answering machine on to get them.

I do not wish to be getting other peoples call . I am in a wheelchair and it takes so long to get to the phone hoping its my children it ia very disappointing and dangerous. Please bug someone else.

After many months of being called daily from Bay Area Credit services 800-454-2227, I blocked their  number.   Next day I started receiving calls from this number trying to collect the same  non existent debt.  It seems that if you block their phone numbers, you will receive calls from another number. These calls are scams.

Received a recorded call today from the same number:  877-489-1148 asking for an ex-boss of mine (zero relation to me).  My recorded message said "If you know where this person is, please call..."

I haven't worked there for 8 years......

FYI :Texas does allow recordings as long as one party is aware of it (you).

When calling a company to find out what they want install a ear bud mic and record the conversation then not only ask to talk to a supervisor(to replay the abuse), and but report them to the BBB(get their information before going into the speech). There have been many cases where the rep's abusiveness has caused negation of the account. Also I too  have noticed that I am getting collections from past known businesses but did not owe any money to them, I think it is the new "scammer" theme coming into play here. RECORD the CONVERSATIONS...but be aware of state laws, some do not allow recordings to be admitted...Texas does though for sure. One last thing...ask them to SHOW PROOF of the original bill..ORIGINAL. I would not give them an address either... they should have that if they are legitimate instead of scammers who might be phishing.

I'm also on the do not call list and am still receiving calls. If anyone knows how to find these (_______es) I would really appreciate a post. It is illegal to continue to call someone once they have been placed on the do not call list, and the fact that they refuse to tell me who they are or even what they want when I call them back makes me even angrier.

This is the same number that calls almost everyday. They don't want to reveal what compant they are and insist on getting my family member's information. I asked for any message and they responded this is personal and private. If they are real, they should mail information to my address, if there is an a legit business thet represent. They are working from phone so they can collect money without being tracked.

Just had a call from a woman who refused to tell me what kind of company she was calling from and kept asking me is it was me  ( it was my cell phone)  by my birthday..she insisted it was a personal matter.....I told her I don't discuss personal busines with people I do not know and who refuse to identify themselves...if it is for AT  T   I haven't dealt with them in over 30 years

I got a call from this number. They left a voice message. Called me on a Sunday. I googled the number
before trying to call them back. I am glad I did this. I see that this is a scam.

I think this company is trying to rip off people by preying on trusting seniors.

This company called my parents house and asked for me, I havent lived there in over 30 years. They did not identify themselves but my moms caller ID showed it as 800 service.   Caller told my mom that it was very important I call them back and left 1-877-489-1148 as a call back number.  I tried to call that number immediately to let them know not to call again, I owe nobody.  The number comes back as "INVALID".  SCAM.  The next call I will make is to my attorney.

Got a call today from Unknown, and they told me who I was (first name wrong, last name right) in their message, and that by continuing to listen to this message and not calling, that I am admitting I am that person!
After finding this info, that it's a famous number and a bogus outfit, I will do nothing.
