hey i got a call too got the info and called the original info and called the original creditor and payed a past due balance without interest, it was just a bill i forgot about when moving, but seriously did you guys ever think about paying your bills and none of this would be happening, quit living beyond your means, and wasting your time ranting on the net, maybe use the time you clearly spend dodging your creditors, and earn money...seriously if someone owed you money, would you not want it back, or is it different somehow? obviously you are living in fear and know something is up or you would not be scanning the net looking up phone numbers you are afraid to call back, i called them, refused to deal with a third party, paid a past due car payment, and moved on and guess what? the calls stopped...and seriously recomending filing a suit against someone for trying to get you to pay your bills is hilarious...that would be like my children taking me to court for making them do their homework...there are expectations that children behave like children and adults like adults, or guess what some lame a** debt collector will call you and get you to pay your bills because you refuse to be a responsible member of society, next time you're looking up phone numbers you're afraid to answer, try going to craigslist and looking under help wanted...seriously...what a bunch of losers, or maybe you can run up debt, wait for collectors to call you and try and sue them for that big score you know somethin for nothin, obviously you're real good at that, then it will be a matter of public record that you are deadbeats, and when you get that settlement, have fun because your lawyer will take most of it. i've never worked for one of  these companies but i can see why they use illegal techniques, 99% of you are losers who don't pay their bills like the rest of us. think about this every time you dont pay a bill to the creditor, that adds up and lowers the company's profit, and will eventually cost americans jobs.

Prank Call
The caller knew a name which isn't listed anywhere and says its a call from "Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois" and says to call back a t a number 1-877-282-1378 with a personal security code.
I would not call back. Blue Cross always takes care of matters with the insurance agents and never calls consumers. Its always easier for them to call with the insurance agents anyways.
I say this is a SCAM.

They are ruthless.  They violate every mention in the Fair Debt Collection Act.  They call
6 minutes apart and that's illegal according to a free consultation I had with an attorney.  They call
at work even when you tell them not to.  I emailed the BBB, Consumer Affairs who is going
to run the complaint and my state Attorney General.  If they call me again, I will also contact
the Ohio Attorney General.  They are going after vehicle damages I did not incur.  They need to
go after the right people.

I get calls from several different numbers.  Today it was: 1 866 389 5649

Todays harrassing call came from a male who would not tell me his name.  I told him that he should be talking to my attorney and not to me.

The guy I spoke with, a really "nice" fellow, who must have suffered greatly at some point in time, finally admitted that he worked for a "lady" named "Jamie Connor" and to have my attorney call her at 877-495-8624.  Apparently, these folks rise up from the very bottom of a stagnant slough (read pond-scum) and do NOT do e-mail.  I offered to e-mail them my attorney's name and address.

They claimed that they tried to call and leave my lawyer messages.  I rather doubt this.

I think the number is for ACS as listed by someone else above.  They call from multiple numbers. I am making monthly payments to pay off a $200.00 bill from when Chrysler Financial raped me in my lease turn in. Regardless... I owe one final $40.00 payment. They made no attempts to contact my cell phone when it wasn't received to their liking- nor send anything by mail (except the 1st time 3 months ago). Instead, they call my work directly. When the receptionist told him I could not take a personal phone call and we asked to contact my cell phone after work hours, the man asked to speak with my manager. He proceeded to tell her that as my manager, it was her responsibility to cover my bad debt or see that her employees handle their own. Do you believe that! He was so rude to her that she had to hang up. Not only should he not have contacted me at work, but he is not allowed to put my personal business out there to anyone he pleases. He should be fired for this and I think the company should be sued. Of course little ol me can't handle something like that (or I wouldn't be in debt in the first place).  I understand they probably get blown off and treated like crap, but they need to remain professional.  .

Keep getting calls from 877-495-8624. leaves message that I must call.   Did so and got a recording to stay on the line.  Who ever it is - I receive at lease 3 calls a week from the #.   If it is a collection agency - I have no issues with past or current debt - so I am assuming it may be an outfit trying to dupe folks into giving out perosnal info - in order to steal ones ID.

I got a call for my fiance from this phone number marked Private. They told me to call back 877-495-8944 and it's a guy talking about showing up on November 11th and that my fiance should have valid identification and that they'll be showing up at our home or place of business and that "we've been notified", and if my fiance or his retained attorney want to call them back, and they referenced a case starting with a number and CJ. I was a debt collector for over a year - pretty sure they just violated the FDCPA. First of all my fiance doesn't use my phone number and second of all my voicemail says my name on it. You just released information to a 3rd party sort of. A***oles.

John M. on December 22, 2008
These guys call me fairly often in the morning. the number which shows up is 800-561-9118. When I answer, there is never anyone there. When I call them back, some kind of telephone receptionist answers, but almost always they do not answer you when you request who they are, but say one moment, and transfer you. Even when you get them to talk to you, they refuse to answer and insist on forwarding you. Usually you are then put on hold until someone answers , demanding that you identify yourself. When you refuse and demand that they identify themselves, they insist that they cannot unless you identify yourself first. Even when you point out that they are committing telephone harassment, they insist that they cannot identify themselves, and continue to insist that you must identify yourself to them.
The latest time they told me that it was a violation of federal law for me to even ask them who they are! I suspect that they are using a false interpretation of the HIPPA rules which are intended to protect patient privacy to claim that they may not identify themselves. This is a gross perversion of the HIPPA rules, and is in no way required by the HIPPA rules. When they call someone, they are perfectly free to identify themselves, whether or not you identify yourself first They may not release any confidential information about their target, and it is possible that they are not required to identify who their client is since it would be a health care agency and thus imply a health care issue, but when they tell you that it is illegal for you to ask their identity they are lying to you in order to try to intimidate you, which is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which is Federal Law every bit as much as the HIPPA is.

I recommend to anyone who has been subject to their harassing and intimidating activities file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General, and the Attorney General of the state in which you live.
You can contact the Ohio Attorney General as follows:
Please first go to :
http://www.ag.state.oh.us/citizen/consumer/complaints.asp
It has useful information about filing complaints

You can file a complaint online at:
https://www.ag4ohio.gov
or you can get .pdf forms at:
http://www.ag.state.oh.us/citizen/forms/consumer_comp_frm2008.pdf
and you can file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General by calling: 877-244-6446

I also recommend that you contact the attorney general in your own state. You can obtain information on how to do so by googling [ "your state" attorney general]

It never hurts to tell them that unless they identify themselves you will file a complaint against them for violation of the federal fair debt collection practices act, and then, after they refuse, or try to give you another lie or another demand that you identify yourself first,. then you simply say, "OK, I demanded that you identify yourself, you have refused. I am going to file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General for telephone harassment and for violoation of the fair debt collection practices act. Goodbye"
and hang up. then, of course, you file the complaints with Ohio and your own state's attorney general.
Finally, if you know who they are collecting for, then you can contact their client, the creditor, directly, and tell them that their agent is harassing you, lying to you, and violating the fair debt collection act, and demand that they instruct their agent to immediately apologize to you in writing and conform their actions to the law, and demand that they also apologize and confirm that they have so instructed the collection agency to do so, also in writing to you. You can also remind them that the collection agency is just exactly that: their agent and their actions are imputed to their principal, namely them. Advise them that if they don't, you will be filing a complaint against them with your state and their state's (if a different state) attorney generals.

Good hunting. Go for blood, and it doesn't hurt to demand damages in the theory that it is the only way to stop them....
Well, Ciao.

I've been getting these calls for a couple of months everyday!  I have privacy director on my phone service so I really never knew who was calling - the return phone number wouldn't show up on caller ID nor would I get to hear his whole message.  So, I called 877-495-8624 (the number above) and asked for Mr. Dillon.  I was transferred immediately to him and told him that I demanded to be removed from his call list immediately.  Turns out this is a collections company, and some guy named Daryl Flowers used my phone number in the past.  This isn't the first company that has called for him.  We'll see if the calls stop.
