Get a call blocking device or phone. Also I'd seek a FDCPA/TCPA attorney and start going after these clowns.

Yes, they sell it to another company and it starts all over.  I have, after 5 years of sealing with this, have decided that I will shutdown the number I have had for over 40 years because they keep calling me about a debt that is not mine.  It upsets me to do so but my phone rings non  stop everyday with this malarky.  I have told them repeatedly, written cease and disist letters, they just move it to another company.

out of statute debt is still collectable - if an attorney tells you its not hes LIEING. All out statute means is they cant sue you so if you choose to be a deadbeat and not pay then your safe

I got this great app for my blackberry that blocks the #'s I don't want calling. They call, and it hangs up on them and they get a dial tone. I love it! best 1.99 I spent ;)

caller id says sattilitetv asks for someone that doesn't live here.  You are told to stay on the line to talk to a live person never happens.  These guys are frauds don't give them any information.

Yeah, they're calling our number looking for some one who had the number before us. Unfortunately the debt collectors have been after this guy, and we are the innocent victims of his stupidity. In order to stop these debt collectors from calling again, I answer and let them know nicely that the person they're looking for is no longer attached to our number, and more importantly we have no connection with him. I haven't gotten any problems from them and they are usually nice about taking our number off their list.

NON-STOP CALL FROM THIS NUMBER. THESE 800 NUMBERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE SUBSCRIBER'S  UNLESS THEY HAVE LEGITIMATE BUSINESSES AND CAN'T BE LISTED AS UNKNOWN. THEIR BUSINESS OR PERSONAL NAMES MUST BE REGISTERED TO THE CALLER ID. THE GOVT MUST STOP ALL TYPE OF SCAMS. THEY SHOULD GO TO JAIL AUTOMATICALLY FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS TYPE OF HARASSMENT. LIFE HAS BEEN VERY STRESSFUL AS EVERYBODY KNOWS, SO WE DON'T NEED ADDITIONAL STRESS.

you sent them money? don't ever send them money unless the debt is on your credit and you receive the request in writing from the company collecting. You got scammed and they called back for more...shocker.

It is AFNI a debt collector, sometimes legit debt, sometimes not.  They contacted me regarding a debt that has already been paid directly to credit.  Some other postings on this page tell you how to avoid continued calls.

Got a couple of calls from this number in a row it specifically ask for the previous owner of this phone number. I have had this number for about 2 months so its expected. It gave 3 options I picked no longer lives at this address and it hung up.  I am sure they will call back its there time not mine.

every day at different times this number 877-497-9050 calls our phone number.  our number is on the do not call list, but evidently makes no difference.  my only recourse is i do not answer any phone call i do not recognize.

To answer some of your questions, debt collectors can call from 8am-9pm any day of the week.  They cannot call your cell phone or make collect calls to you.  The cannot tell anyone that they are attempting to contact you because of a debt, even leaving that kind of message on your answering machine is forbidden.  They are allowed to call until you answer the phone and verify that they have correct contact information for the person they are seeking.  After that they have 5 days to mail you proof of your debt.  Almost all of the posts related to this number describe illegal behavior that is in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I talk to these people - I keep them on the line as long as I can and it's amazing how much information they will give YOU on the person they are looking for!

I say "YES - I AM that man" - I ask about the debt - they've confirmed my SSN (telling me this person's SSN) - address - creditor's name, address and phone number. Account number of the debt and amount - everything!

I figure the longer I keep them on the line the more it wastes their business.

THEN - Call the business they are collecting the debt for and let them know how much info you received... Maybe they'll switch collection agencies in the future!

These people keep calling and asking for someone we do not know,  so we went and bought a new phone system that automatically blocks calls that come across as toll free, unknown name, private name and so forth, so now this number can never get through because it is blocked. Don't know who they are or why they can not understand when we tell them that person does not live here. Not sure if it really is a collection agency or not but everyone needs one of these phone systems, then these kinds of people cannot bother those of us who actually pay our bills.

The call that I got from them told me that they where looking for someone.  The person was my sister.  funny though as i picked up they put me on hold for over five minutes and then i just hung up.  I came here and then decided to try to call the number back.  They picked up after another five minutes saying that they were busy( obviously herrassing other people.) Then they tried to tell me that the person they were calling for was the person that came up on their caller id.  

When they called they wanted to talk to someone and then when i called them they said that they wanted someone else.  saying that their were a number of people that were connected to the same debt.

How can more then one person be held responsible for the same debt.  Isn't that kind of like double jeopardy.

so let me guess once one of us pays of this fee then they will come after the rest of us to collect it as well.

Receives calls from this number several times a day.  Last call today was at 8:31 pm tonight.  I don't know who this is but is there someway these  people can be stopped.

My CallWave answering service indicated that a call came in from 977-497-9050 at 12:05 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009.  Whoever called left no message.

I don't owe anybody anything, and these numbers are supposed to be blocked, but Verizon isn't blocking them, so I reported them to the gov't. They are Afni, as I called back after hours.

I have dealt with AFNI before, including sending them a request for validation of debt AND a cease-and-desist letter when they didn't fulfill the first request. Now they are calling again, for who knows what? I called and asked that my phone number be removed from their database. So I guess we'll see.

I called them back and told them they keep calling and not leaving a message. I demanded they remove my number from their database. They asked for the number, I gave it. They confirmed I do not know "Peter Bruno" who is unknown to me as I have owned this number from the beginning. They removed it from their database. They were very nice about it...even though this is the second time in a year I've had to do this.

This numbers calls my cell phone every couple of days... When I check the voicemail it is for a J______ Davis. NOT ME! The message then says to call the number back to pay a debt.. When I try calling back, it is Afni and after I press 1 for english, it rings once and hangs up!  -- This is really irritating, and I have no idea how to stop the incessant calling.

just called me after i had just typed in phone number on website! they were CALL TRACED AT 11:30 AM ON JUNE 18,2008! AND if the continue they can expect the slam or pull out the cord from wall cause i can! f yrslves now!have a nice day!

This number calls for Gregory Law... anyone know him?  because i dont!  they call all the time, but we are not calling them back.  i will not give them any of our information.
