Always go to your bank in person and report these kind of charges as fraud. File police reports, and file a complaint with your state Attorney General and the FTC.  If they have a BBB page, you can file a report there also.

Unknown source has been charging me $14.95 for at least 2 years on my credit card.  877-498-7283 is the phone number and I discovered that it is associated with Newport News, a discount women
's clothing store that I ordered a bathing suit from years ago.  Apparently they sneak in charges once you place an order or give them an email address.  NEVER order from this company!!  Calls are answered by people in India or somewhere like that and it is difficult to get any action taken.

I got you all beat! I just found out that I've been getting charged $14.95 since Dec 2009. That comes out to $687.70! I will call my bank and Newport news first thing in the morning and I will post the outcome of this. Needless to say, I am furious!!!

I can't believe I missed this for so long.  5 months of automatic payments from my bank account for $14.95.  I'm so angry I can't stand it.  I haven't ordered anything or purchased anything from Newport News or the likes.  I can't imagine how or why I'm being charged.  It's too late for me to call now but i'm glad i have everyone's advice for tomorrow when I call for my refund.

Thank you everyone!

I was being chared $14.95 a month for two years!!  I can't believe I just noticed it..  I do remember calling my bank once and they told me it was a debit purchase I had made-I was dumb and didn't ask any questions.  Called my bank today and they gave me the "Insider Pass" phone number.  After many discussions, explaining myself, and asking to speak to a manager, they told me that they would credit me back one year.  Not good enough!  So I called my bank and we made a conference call to the organization.  My bank was able to get me back all of my money.  Well, in 7-10 days.  We'll see.  Biggest scam and fraud!  Only because I purchased a swimsuit from NewPort magazine.  DO NOT PURCHASE anything from that clothing line/store.

Also being charged 14.95 per month for what, I don't know.
Something about membership services from 877-498-7283.
I pulled the plug on them today by cancelling my bank account.

Interesting business idea; charge as many people as you can until they complain,...then charge others.
I'm thinking they are probably pulling thousands from various bank accounts at this very minute, and more on the way as complaints trickle in one-at-a-time.

The ratio of complaints to transactions is probably 1:10. Very profitable. Also very sneaky.
Suspect an overseas company from India/Asia area.

Whoever is behind this; their actions will catch up with them.

Same thing happened to me.  Call your card and cancel it - it is an automatic add-on from a clothing catalog (mine was Newport News).  It deducts automatically and monthly from whatever charge card you used to order with.

Just discovered this $14.95 charge on MY credit card, with THIS phone number.  It's called "In Pass".  I haven't bought anything from Newport News since August of 08!  HOLY COW!  I have been charged this for months.  Time to stop it now!

I did not receive a phone call from this number, but I noticed it on my online bank account summary. I, too, was charged $14.95, and it said something about an In Pass for Forbes. I have NO idea what this is all about. I don't know about legalities, but I want my money back from that company.

I noticed a charge for Insider Pass on my current bank statement also with this phone number attached.  I had no idea what it was.  I looked back through the past few months on my bank statement and they have been deducting $14.95 a month.  I called the number and canceled the insider pass, which I wasn't even aware that I had signed up for in the first place.  They offered to credit this month's deduction back to my account but refused to credit the previous months.  I apparently (and unintentionally) agreed to the membership when I placed an order with Newport News approximately 1.5 years ago.  So. . . . basically. . . . .  I'm out approximately $280-ish and there's nothing I can do about it.  Hopefully canceling the membership has at least fixed the issue.

i am bleeding fire I am so mad about this, and its my own fault for not being dilligent.
I ordered a dress from Newport news in 2008.  I apparently have been charged $14.95/month for THREE YEARS! The only reason i noticed it was because I synced my accounts with Mint.com and noticed an uncategorized charge. When i googled it I found this website and realized I have been scammed!  I called and, after being hung up on three times by India, they gave me a 18 month credit ($269.10).  I am out $269.10 of my own money for not realizing it sooner - they can only credit so much after a certain amount of time.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!  When they ask for your email address and zip code, while ordering, that is when you sign up. Read the fine print!~

I did not get calls.  I just got credit card charges!  )-:

Awhile ago, I did buy some things on-line from Newport News.  This telemarketer is related to them.

Solution: Call your credit card company.  Dispute all credit card charges.  Let them handle it.  It worked for me.

Keep working your way up the ladder within the Regent Insider "customer service call center" to increase your refund to your credit card or bank account for the full amount owed you. (The "customer support call center" sounds like it must be in India.) I have been promised 12 months credit back to our credit card by threatening to have an attorney represent all the complaints on a "class action lawsuit" against Regent Insider and Newport News.  Write Newport News and demand they make restitution for such a scam by offering an appropriate size gift certificate to their catalog or tell them that you will never order from them again and that you will tell all your friends about their scam and encourage them to avoid Newport News.

Call the Federal Trade Commission @ once at 1-877-FTC-HELP
Get a reference number then call the thieves back at Newport News and get ALL your money back. It does not hurt if you also contact your states attorney general. NN knows they are stealing from us snd if we have the back up of the government they will give you your $ back. I got over $250. back. It took over 6 weeks and numerous phone calls, but they had MY money!! Good luck to all.

Ok folks, we were all scammed.  I'm sure the company will resolve the problem for me, but what about the people who will be scammed in the future?  What about the handicaped people that can't handle the situation?  I think it's time for us, the scammed, literate people to do something about this.  If you are willing to be part of a class action suite please contact me at xdonutcop@yahoo.com.  I'll take the list to an atty. that handles this sort of thing. A payback is definitely over due!

I just realized too that I was being charged 14.95 for something they said I was consent to. So I called the number (1877-498-7283) only for them to tell me to call 1-877-518-7283 and I spoke directly to a person ( whom was Indian by the way and was hard to understand well) told me that I signed for a membership (which I didn't) once I typed in my email address before checking out on my order at, "NEWPORT NEWS". While talking to that person he said that he would give me two moths worth of my money back. Then I arugued that I would call the BBB. Then he went back on his scam of a deal and said, "well wait a minute...let me transfer you to my supervisor.." of which was another foreigner. That person repeated what the first person said which was that once I typed in my email address I automatically signed up for the membership with Newport News. I told her too the same thing about me reporting them and that's when she said, "I can only give you 6 months worth and cancel the membership for you". Then I said "if this turns out not to be true within four days that I would be calling back". Here's a tip if you all call that number and the person gives a hard way to go...tell them that you will report them to your local TV News Station.
