Just google "Maryland Firms Ship Unwanted Items" and that BBB article will tell you everything that happened to me. It reports that at least eight scamming companies which are all owned by Brian Waller and Brandon Riggs, have been scamming people by sending light bulbs and cleaner to companies who haven't ordered any, then billing them $600. White Pages lists Brandon at 1016 S Conkling St in Baltimore, MD 21224-5297, phone number 443-660-8597. He's also pretty easy to find on Facebook. One of his friends on Facebook is Stephen Sprainis, who lists his occupation as "administrator at Midway Industries," another scamming firm. I think he likes to change his name to Stephen Springer for the UPS return labels. White Pages lists Stephen Sprainis at 3919 Chaffey Rd in Randallstown, MD 21133-4003, phone 410-496-8096. Also on Facebook is Brian Plato of Baltimore, who lists his occupation as "administrator at Midway Industries." The guy who tried to con me called himself Chris James at Commercial Industries LLC, but I couldn't find him on Brandon or Stephen's Facebook pages, only a "Chris Jones." What really surprises me is how Del Vel Chem at 250 Old Marlton Pike in Medford, NJ continues to ship light bulbs and cleaner for these companies when it's likely that half of all their orders must be returned, as mine was. So I decided to call them. After confirming with Bonnie Spector (very nice lady) at Del Vel that all eight of those scamming companies do indeed order their bulbs and cleaners from Del Vel, I called the CEO of Del Vel, Steven Pollack, to make him aware of this nationwide scam that was being conducted using products ordered out of his warehouse. He refused to read the BBB article, or so he told me. This is what he said: "It's not my business what my customers do with my products. I'm just a fulfillment center. I have over a hundred customers and I can't keep up with what everyone does. I'm not concerned!" I told him if at least eight of his customers are crooks then what does that say about him? I'm sure you would all agree that it's good business to be somewhat concerned with what your customers are doing with your products. For example, a pawn shop might refuse to sell firearms to someone with a criminal history. An honest bartender would refuse to sell alcohol to someone obviously drunk. Yes, they might be losing a little money, but they take these actions because they know they could involve themselves in wrongdoing, be held liable for harm done to others, and damage their own reputation. Well Mr. Pollack, I see on your LinkedIn profile that you got your bachelor's in finance, now you just need to get one in ethics and morals.

I had a guy call me on a Craigs list post I put up on a 12 volt Wench I was selling. He told me to remove the item because he wanted it. He told me he was sending a cashiers check for the amount I was asking + the shipping fee. 2 days later he text me asking for $200.00. I told him to !@#% off and forget it. Everyday since then he has not stopped texting me saying the check is on the way. Well today I recived a check in the mail from Gotec Industries LLC for the amount of $1,600.00 on a fake check. The bank is real, but the check is totally fake. The senders address is a P.O. box 362 out of St. Petersburg FL, 33731. Time to nail this guy!! Buy the way, the bank is B of A out of Sarasota, FL. 5457 Fruitville Rd.34232.is the zip.

Just received a call from Commercial.  It was a female wanting to send me a gift card for being an excellent customer.  I said, please don't we've never ordered from your company.  She tried to argue and said names of people that have never been employed at our organization.  Total scam and these people should be ashamed of their practices.

We got ripped off on bulbs and on that stupid case of cleaner.  Fortunately, we haven't paid for the cleaner and aren't going to.  The buls got through our accounting department before it was caught and were paid for.  This company is a complete scam and operates under several names in the Maryland area.  Check before you buy!

The representative that called us, after we stated we have a corporate contract, asked if they could send us a catalog.  once our address was given, the representative stated "Great I will ship you a case" and hung up immediately.  Contacted them and requested that they stop the shipment.  I assumed it was taken care of.  Then a case of bulbs arrived at a cost of $3.32 per bulb.  Still fighting the invoice and will take legal action rather than pay that price.

Hit me too!!
Called and wanted to send catalog, price list, invoice, and 16 bulbs. Got the bulbs but no invoice, catalog, nor price list. After 2 weeks sent invoice to the Co. that I contract to who has nothing to do with the building maintenance for $596.00. I told them to not pay. I contacted the co. to return. They said: "How can you return to a PO box?" Still wanting to make it right I negotiated the invoice to $58 and was going to pay until I did some research and found pages like this. Home Depot has the same lights for $1.87 for 4 bulbs!! Still getting calls from them.
I live in the capital city of this state so think I will pay a visit to state Attorney General's Office. I will gladly send them back if they give me an address. I found their address online but want THEM to give it to me.

We had a similar experience with Commercial Industries and their $36/bulb scam.  We reported them to FTC, and took the liberty of sending them a link to a 1996 case very similar to this scam: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/1996/01/envirn.shtm.  This is an article from the FTC documenting a case and ensuing litigation against a Florida/Texas group of individuals which scammed companies under a very similar guise.

According to the FTC, if you receive unordered product from a scam like this, it is considered a "gift."
You have no legal obligation to pay these criminals, just report them to the FTC and refuse payment.

Shut em down.
