I have the number right. I am not 100% on the name. The guy on the other end said he was....then he dropped off. He wanted me to confirm some information of my personal identity. I said no. Who are you. He said something like Mirror-mat or mirror mate. But if I confirmed the number he would be able to tell me whether or not I was the "right person". Sure I would be the right sucker then. Nope. don't think so.

My mother in law called me to tell me someone just contacted her residence asking for me using my maiden name.  Weird!  I never lived at her house, or used her phone number for anything.  I have been married for 7 years, why would they ask for me using my maiden name and at her phone #?  All they said was, " Is this Jenny ####?, my mother in law replied, no she does not live here you have the wrong number., they replied very abruptly and rude, "you are her & you will be served in 72 hours!"  then they hung up.  The phone number was restricted.  So glad to have found this blog.  I am a little worried that someone has my personal information, my next step is to the bank to pull my credit.

HOW DID YOU LOOK UP THE CLAIM NUMBER,, I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH THESE GUYS TOO,, AND I KNOW MY DEBTS ARE BACK FROM 1999-2000..

What is a "collections house"?

Please complain to the California Attorney Generals Office.  They will monitor the complaints and something can be done if they receive enough complaints. This illegal organization needs to be stopped.

I just got a call from this number also and they also left the same voice mail as some of the above.  His claims his name is Dan Capland from the County Process Servers Office. He told me that a this call is an official notice to be served and offered to mediate between me and some company.  He verified my address and will serve me at an old address I had not been to in years and used a name of a neighbor, and said it was my wife, and that she will be served also

He also doesn't know my first name, if this was official,  it would have at least had my name correct.

I got a call from western preformance group yesterday and the scared me with all the same tactics said here. I gave them card number and when I calmed down, I got online and found all this info. I called the FTC and the advised me this was a scamm and to cancel my debit card number. Dont fall for this like I did. I am a nervous wreck now and I am worried that they have all my info.

Recieved a call at work from some a***ole at WPG associates stating I was going to recieve a summons for a lawsuit from some old account that was charged off years ago. I knew this was a scam, since the statute of limitations runs out after 4 years in Florida. If you get a phone call from these losers,tell them to get lost.What they are doing is illigeal.

They need to tell them to stop calling them.  Give them the name and number of an attorney.  That will shut them up really quick.

I got a call to my in-laws house saying that i needed to call them asap regarding a lawsuit filed against me from a credit card company who issued me a credit card 4 years ago and didnt pay. I did have a credit card 4 years ago that i havent paid. They had my social security # and my spouse's name and they were supposedly a legal administration office trying to serve me witb some papers regarding this matter. They threatened with having the irs garnish my wages if this debt wasnt settled immediately. This lady's name was "Lisa Gray" and she was going to email me detailed info and send me a letter in the mail as well because I asked for this proof. She sent me an email under the name Yajaira Molina and yet signed the email with the name Lisa Gray which i thought was weird. She never sent me a letter in the mail. I decided to research about this company on better business bureau website and also on complaintnow.com and to my surprise, there were a lot of people complaining about wpg. Im glad i didnt give out my debit card # and im definitely not making any payments! Bunch of bs!

I just received a call from this company stating that they were serving me papers and taking me to court if I did not pay 1700. After reading everything on here, I called them bank and told them I was not paying and I would report them to the FTC and they hung up on me.  Don't let yourself become a victim of this company, don't pay them a dime.

Same thing as evryone else.  Someone called me from an "Unknown" number and left a message.  He said his name was Travis Green and calling from a process server company in Honolulu, HI.  He stated that I have a civil claim against me but my summons was returned as Undeliverable.  He then gave me this number (877-523-3986) and told me to call them back.  Because he was so nice on his message, I figured I'd give them a call back.  But, I decided to get in touch with the courts in Hawaii first because I wanted to know my legal boundaries before speaking with a "process server".  (Especially since I have never lived in Hawaii) The courts told me they had nothing on me.  At all.  Ever.  I googled the phone number and came up with 6 different websites talking about how they are a collections company and how they are exremely rude.
Just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to everyone who posted on here.  I do have an account that is in collections for $294--but if this company is this rude to deal with and goes through with fraudulent practices, then I don't even want to open this can of worms.  I'll take that $294 negative account on my credit report just for sanity purposes.
They get you by being so nice and professional on your voicemail!!!

I just received a call from these scumbags. It didn't pass the sniff test and I refused to give my number until they could verify who they were. They are rude and aggressive and within minutes wanted 5000.00 and would settle for 500....I know better. anybody should just tell them they are the scum of the earth and tell them you will report any further calls.

Received a 'restricted' call on my cell phone at 8pm from some mono-toned thug who identified himself as 'Mr Marcone' (amusing as that is the name of a Chicago thug in the Dresden Files books), telling me I had 24 hours to respond to 877-523-3986 before he would be serving an "SG100" summons against me at my home and garnishing my wages. The threat to call my employer and garnish my wages at a job that has been cut from 4 days to 2 days a week was, for me, a very serious threat. Mr Marcone inferred he was an agent of the court represented a corporation I never heard of, or have had any business dealings with, nor do they own the company where I do have a delinquent credit card account.

I did call the number (at 4am... like who goes to sleep after a call like that?)  to see what it was and a per-recorded message identified the number as being Western Performance Group, and from there I located the multitude of complaints about them as where they are identified as a collection agency and NOT an agency of the court system.

What I'd like to know is how to stop them from their fraudulent calls and threats...

They asked for all kinds of things from my HR lady. Wanted to speak with payroll or a manager. Saying they were going to garnish my wages and asked if we had a open parking lot so they could come get my vin number. They also said they were going to serve me papers and that I had to come to work. I told them to call my lawyer. He got very irrate and said we will see who wins when we go to court. The CC was from 06 and was a $300 dollar limit. He said I owed them over $3000. I just checked my credit report last week and the account had been closed and wrote off. I would really like this companies address so I can have my attorney contact them for harrasement. Anyone have the address?

I received a call just like this one a few minutes ago.... my mistake was giving them my debit card # and when I hung up with them I opened this site up and read your message.  I immediately called my bank and canceled my bank card.  
They were not rude to me but they did scare me into thinking they would do the same things you mentioned below.  
I guess if they want to take me to court they can but I won't be paying them any money that's for sure!

Got a call tonight saying I was going to be served with papers regarding a "civil complaint" against me.
At first, I was very confused and then he stated to call Western Performance Group and reference file # blah blah blah. I wanted to check out the company name and am glad I did. I will be reporting them and (if anyone in this thread can supply their address) send them a Cease and Desist letter.

These jokers called asking for my wife and identified themselves as being with a law firm in Napa CA. The person on the phone stated they had attempted to serve her 2 times before and  would be attempting a 3rd and final service tomorrow. Me being the husband asked what this is in regards to and they said we are not at liberty to discuss this with you. Have your wife call us and gave me the phone number. I called my wife gave her the info and she called them. The guy on the other end was a complete jerk. My wife hung up on him. I called them back and asked for a supervisor the person on the phone said she was the administrator. iI told her what happened and asked what kind of company she was running. She said your wife is being sued by blah company. I stopped her at this point. At this point I had not given her a case number nor did I identify my wife. I asked her how she knew who I was she said oh about that I got it from the caller id and then she said you better talk to your so called wife and make sure she pays her bills on time or we'll come after you next. She got really rude with me and then hung up on me.

I got a call yesterday about oweing a credit card and stupid me paid it because at the time I was in the Emergency Room with my husgand and didn't have time to see if someone was going to really be serving me or not.

I looked back and I never had a credit card that they mentioned now I am going to be out that money. WTF!!

I'm not sending them 1 penny....let them come serve papers ...as they say "good luck to you"

This number called my work today and left a message with the office manager for me to call them back. They called themselves the US Document Summons Service. When I called them back I spoke to someone named Patrick who claimed to be a director. When I asked him where I was calling he said the Western Performance Group. Huh? I thought the US Document Summons Service were the ones that called. These guys are so dumb they can't keep their story straight. Anyway, they claimed that I have a slightly over 3,000.00 debt on an old account and that I was in the process of being served to go to court. They said the amount would rise to over 5 grand including court and lawyer fees. However if I was willing to settle for 1500.00 they would make sure that I would not be served. Are you kidding me? I asked who the lawyer was and he gave me the runaround. I asked If I could please be mailed something shown in writing and they said they could not. This was ridiculous. They were even pressuring me to see if my parents could help me out. I told them I was a 27 year old adult and would not seek my parents help for this. Bottom line, I researched these guys out and they cross the line with their tactics which are mostly illegal. Don't give them any information if you can help it.

Do not worry about these types of phone calls.  

I recently received a phone call telling me to ring (877) 523-3986 ASAP or I would be served, etc.  I know how the process works and have dealt with phony collection companies before.  

Their hope is that the threat of an immenent lawsuit will frighten people to make quick settlements while under panic.  Don't settle.  Don't pay them anything.  They can't collect against you and will not take you to court.  I repeat they will not take you to court.

Me too scammers this is not the first time they had called me...the first time they used a lawyers name in california and I had called the lawyer and he ordered them to stop the calls.today I received a call they caught me off guard and not knowing I gave them my card number how stupid..I then looked up then number called my bank and closed my account....they knew everything Social, birthdate, where I had lived and even my bank I bank with this too scary...so i felt it had to be real....But thank god I acted on it tomorrow AM I am contacting the county attorneys office to report these people enough is enough...

Mr. King called my office and scared the Receptionist , he told her if she didn't give him my cell my that he was going to send the police to summons me. He had all my credit card and car loan information. He was very rude. The company is a fraud. Don't give them any information.
