I received a message from this # as well. It was not for me but for my son. It pissed me off....I thought the kid was actually in deep dodo with loan sharks or something..... These were the words left verbatim

This is Ken Johnson and were utilizing escalation practices.
Paul XXX due to lack of response and blatant disregard the appropriate parties have been notified to locate your whereabouts. The actions expected of you were not performed. I strongly advise you to contact Ken Johnson at SLN recoveries reverence #XXXXX. If no reply Paul we must utilize escalation practices.

Can I just say Sallie Mae is a legal loan shark. And I hate her sooooo much. It doesn't matter how many years you have paid on time....the minute you get behind that is it.....It's like selling your sole to the devil

When I called the real Sallie Mae phone number, I told them about a "sallie mae recovery department" calling us.  They
informed me that they do Not have a "recovery department".  The real phone number to inquire about any student loan(s) is
800-433-3243.  If they do not have a loan in your name (ss) or the name you are requesting information for, there is no loan.  period.
Ignore the calls that I'm afraid will still continue, or change your phone number, or report to the police the fraud attempt.

This is not Sallie Mae. These are scam artists trying to get your personal information.  Do not cave in to them or their threats.  They can be cited for harassment.  Contact Sallie Mae only through the phone numbers they give you on their regular mail correspondences with you.

These people keep calling my elderly father over an alleged student loan. They refuse to provide verification of the debt and threaten him. First they say they're Sallie Mae, but then refuse to identify their company's full name or provide a mailing address. Before they'll even confirm their own names they want personal information 'to identify' who they're talking to. Driver's license and bank account numbers? Really???

Received a call as well for a student loan I am supposedly a cosigner on for my daughter. I have never consigned for a student loan. All she needed was my personal information to apply for the loan electronically.  I told them I didn't sign anything that she used my information to get it. I was told the only was I can get my name removed is to file a fraud complaint with the local police dept then call them back with a case number which in turn could put my daughter in jail. I don't understand why documents for loans don't have to be notarized. Any one can get someone's personal info to use as a cosigner on a loan. I think Sally Mae needs to stop the practice of allowing loans to be applied for electronically. People's credit is being ruined because of poor judgement of others. In my case it was my child and they know we don't want the law involved when it comes to our children. Is there any advice anyone can give me on this matter?

Get the name of the collection agency, they are required by law to provide this information if you ask. Also get their mailing address and send them letters by certified mail. This is what I keep reading to do butI've been unsuccessful at it.

If anyone else has been able to find more information, post the name of the agency here because it may be hard for others to find it.

Ms Sosa of "Sallie May" left a message regarding a reference number and to call her back within 24 hours.  Called back within half an hour and spoke with someone else, who immediately asked for my social security number (which I did not give her) but gave the reference number instead.  She claimed a "Pedro Ruiz" used us as a reference for them to call (possibly regarding a loan).  Sounds like a SCAM to me.  She said Ms Sosa will call me tomorrow.  Let's see . . .

This is a junk debt collector NOT Sallie Mae but one of their hired trash collection agencies. They are most likely calling you to try and re-age or renew your debt by getting you to confess to owing the money (which they will record and use against you in court).

I bet 90% of these calls you are receiving are for PRIVATE student loans and NOT FEDERAL student loans. Private student loans are not federally backed and when the statute of limitations is up they haven't a leg to stand on. If it were a FEDERAL student loan, they wouldn't need to call or harass you, they would just contact the Department of Education and have your wages garnished.

In short, DO NOT TALK TO THEM AT ALL!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!! DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEBT!!

Supposedly from Sally Mae,  a lady by the name of Mrs or Ms Ford. Asked for my first name and then asked if there was another way of contacting a person had used me as a reference. Turned out, that person didn't use me as a reference. Where did they get my number???? "Mrs or Ms Ford" was very abrupt, speaking quickly and demanding for answers, which I did not give.

Event Reminder
An individual stating his name was Tim Conroy call my private cellphone asking if my wife was home. I told him I would leave a message for her and asked what the call was concerning.  He said someone named Rudolf or Randolf had used my wife as a reference and given this number (my private cellphone) as her contact number.  My wife never uses her or my cellphone number as a contact relating to business. I asked for a return number and he gave me 877-550-1382.  Attempted to contact this number a few times and simply get a message saying it is Sallie Mae and that they will "connect me with my party" and no connection is ever made.  I would ignore any calls from this number.  Clearly a fradulent effort to obtain information through stolen or misused personal information.

I've received numerous calls from this number claiming to be a debt collector for Sallie Mae. They've called my cell phone and my work number.  They claim they will take a settlement for a Sallie Mae loan that my son defaulted on.  They claim they will contact my employer tomorrow if I don't cought up $1400 and then $100 payments for another 6 months.  However, the letter they wrote is dated 2011 and this is 2012, then the date in the body of the letter shows 2012 as 20012 and the consecutive months list March, April, May, April, May, June listing April and May twice.  They claim without an answer by tonight, they are going to sue me for the whole amount and garnish my wages.  I'm the co-signer and I'm being harrassed at work!  I called Sallie Mae and they won't verify that this is even a legitimate place.  I don't know whether to believe them, everything is so unprofessional and there are typos all over the letter.  I'm scared this is a scam.  Does anyone else know for sure if this is a scam?
Help Please!!!

These people don't understand when you tell them they have the wrong number. I don't know who they want to talk to, some guy named Jeff. That's definitely not me! If you tell them you're reporting them to the police, they stop calling, at least, for now. Stupid idiots need to be smacked in the face! If they keep calling you, threaten them with a lawsuit and tell them that they can't call you at a place of work or before normal regular hours, or if they're looking for someone who is not you!

I got 2 calls from them today at work, 10 minutes apart. Their number used to come up on caller ID as Sallie Mae but now it just says Toll Free 1-800...  Anyway, the first time a lady called looking for one of the guys I work with. His son does have a loan with Sallie Mae but they keep calling my co-worker at work even though he has continually told them to remove his work number from their system. He's not trying to hide from them but he's never here when they call because of the nature of our work. The 2nd call I got was a man asking for our fax number. At the time I didn't know the call was from the same place but I had my suspicions. I refused to give it to him. He wanted to know why I was being difficult and when I asked him why he wanted the number he tripped over his sentences until he came up with wanting it because his call was concerning payroll. Then he asked if I was the owner of part of Human Resources. I answered that I was not and he then asked why I was making a decision when it didn't concern me. I then told him he could call back tomorrow and discuss it with my boss. These people are complete idiots

As stated by others, Sallie Mae collections retards will refuse to remove your number unless you give personal info, if someone is sing your number for contact your best bet is to change your number. I should not have to give name my address and other information for removal from their call list. Collecting for the wrong people.
