Cogeco is awesome. I was late on my bill last month and they only called me once to see if I could make an arrangement with them. They are always nice to me, even if I have not paid my bill yet. Anytime I have called their customer service or billing reps, they are effecient, friendly and helpful. Cogeco services are pretty good too. Only had 1 outage in the area in the past 2 years and I also needed to call in once for an issue with the dvr. The only issue I ever had with them was a promo price on internet (promo ended earlier then I thought) and they resolved the issue for me and gave me another 3 months at the same price. I like them.

Sorry buddy but...... My bill is always paid on time. I have NEVER been late with a payment, and I mean paid weeks in advance, Guess what..... My husband who works nights is still getting early morning calls from this bloody company demanding payment.
Our online account says we are paid up!!!
You cannot defend this company, it is screwed up!
We are leaving them in June as soon as our contract is up!!!

its from cogeco collections they will automatically call you if  a new bill has been printed and you balance if over $200.  they have an auto dialer, its the same sort of thing if you have on demand with them , when your bill gets to a certain amount they automatically restrict your cable box.  "apparently " they cant override this like they used to able to  i remember when they could just flick a switch but everything is so automated these days\

I am in the same boat as you Mary. I also agree that Cogeco customer service is very courteous and professional compared to ... well, others. That being said, there is an axiom in business that says that it is cheaper to keep your existing customers rather than try and get new ones. I also like the fact that their customer service is local. I get frustrated trying to understand Abdul or Rosni.

To Christine:  Please don't move to Bell Satellite.  They are worse!  Bell will not give you local news and weather unless you live in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa etc.  They harass you.  If it rains or there is a cloud in the sky, POOF you have no TV.   Stick it out with Cogeco.  Pay your bills promptly or ahead of time and you will not get any calls from Cogeco.

i switched to cogeco because their high speed is with out a doubt better than any other in the area i live in (Cobourg ontario) but now that i am always being harassed by them for payments made, i am seriously thinking about going back to bell or moving back to Barri On so i can be with rogers. if anyone from fogers reads this, please can you do something to get rid of cogeco in Cobourg. they have one hell of a fast high speed but they just dont treat there customers properly

Actually it is ok to pay whatever you want as long as ur making the effort no matter how small the payment may be, if ur making any sorta payment they cant harrass you. Before u go on and on about how they cant u should learn the rules. People like you are the reason nobody answers there phone

Been getting a call from this number EVERYDAY this week, starting Monday and now it is Saturday. I answer and it's only blank. One time, I listened long enough to hear, "Thank you for calling, all of our reps are currently busy. Please stay on the line." WHAT?! And yes, I am with Cogeco.

I get phone calls once in a while when I get behind on my bill. I explained to them that I frequently end up in the hospital  and when that happens I have to wait until I get home to pay my bill. I have to admit ( and NO i do not work for COGECO) that they are usually very understanding and as long as I pay a little extra every month until I'm caught up they are happy with that.

They know I'm handicapped and need my phone and internet because I have to do all of my banking etc. because I can't get out to do it and need my phone for emergencies  and they have always worked with me without threatening to cut off my service.

I have a collection agency which constantly calls me over an old stats barred credit card and they have sworn at me, threatened to empty my bank account, threatened to take me to court, insulted me, you name it even though they know I'm on disability. When I was will Bell I had them constantly harrassing me when my bill was paid in full and had to fight with them for two years to get my $200 security payment back from them which I had to pay because I was new to the province and had never had service with them. I also had to fight with them when for some reason that tacked a business fax service to my bill which I never ordered and they refused to believe me even when I sent them proof that I did not own a business or even a fax machine. In the mean time they kept billing me for it and I had to threaten to take them to court before they would they finally took another look at my account and reimbursed me to the tune of over $800 they had overcharged me.

Compared to these guys mentioned above I find COGECO to be very professional and I will be sticking with them.  I just find that they treat their customers with a lot more respect than most companies and are quite willing to work out payments with you if you do get behind. No screaming or insults either which is a pleasant change.

Not true. They have called us everyday non-stop for over a week while we were at work and never left a message.  We owe no monies... we are not past due on anything. The true peril is doing business with such a incompetent service provider.  If they asserted as much diligence into providing a competitive service as they do in harassing customers in good standing, they would not have issues with customer retention/satisfaction.

okay if you want them to stop calling... its pretty simply.... PAY YOUR BILL IN TIME!  I use to work for this department and guess what... i called people to advised them we didn't receive their payment. plus... more then half of our customers believe its okay to pay what they feel or if anything the past due on their account. listen people if you can't afford the services just downgrade your s***. and if automatic payments... if were calling you its because your defaulting. By the way ... cogeco is not hurting for money. We were trained to understand situations and that customer service is the utmost important factor to this job. no one harasses you. put yourself in cogeco's situation. example.... you expect to get paid by your boss every two week and the full amount. you would get really upset if your boss paid you two weeks later or perhaps a month later because he/she simply forgot or better yet didn't have the funds to pay you. its a fact of life. and if anything the people who you claim to be harassing you are the ones who understand situations and can try to work things out for your benefit. remember this... cable/phone/internet ... all luxury... you don't need it. When they call... don't get pissed... just answer and advise us how much you paid... when you did... and the method you used. this will allow to document your account and stop anything from happening. if anything... these people should be your best friends when it comes to the company you receive services from.

Ever since having a computer I have always had cogeco. Now circumstances changed finances but l stayed with cogeco, even bundling the services. Given l am hearing impaired and in need of my services. They promised phone would never go out. Well it did! So l went elsewhere. Never argued that l had a bill, l just had to pay at my pace. They accepted I never deterred from the plan and always called collection with confirmation #. My beef is they sold my account to TWO collection services! not one but two..One guy demanded I pre-authorize a payment to cogeco.. not even them! so he had the conf #. Or the preverbial can you borrow the monies from a family or friend? DUUHHH here that means I still OWE!!???

If I was not sticking to the pay schedule I could see them selling my acct. But two? I never argued I had a bill. I know I warned them I was switching if they couldnt fix this  this last call. It never got fixed and I got stuck with a one month bill when I never had the service at all!

I will NEVER go to Cogeco again .. and I will take this situation to a media type blog.

This is Cogeco. They started calling looking for money we owed them, we paid them the day of the first call. Checked our account online and it said we still had money outstanding. Called them 2 days ago and asked why we have a balance when it's paid for.. they said it takes time to process.

And yet even though we've called them and explained that it IS paid for, they feel like they need to call every single day.

These bas**rds just can't seem to get it straight.  I just paid them 2 weeks ago and they are back hounding me again for the money I have already paid.  It seems that the accounting department doesn't communicate with the phone department.  They will cut you off in an instant without notice and then say well your payment just arrived this morning and hasn;t been posted yet.  I checked with my bank and they say the money arrived the next day it takes Cogeco 5 days to process the payments once it is received.  I pay almost $200 a month for their inferior service and this is the way they treat a customer of over 30 years.  I am looking for a new provider.......definately not Bell!

Any why the hell don't they leave a message instead of just haning up?

Hey! You guys are right, they dont call 2 times I've been call 6 in a row which in turn woke my daughter up 4 out of the 6 times....they dont leave a message and now knowing that its COGECO it really p*sses me off because Im up to date on ALL bills because they are automatically withdrawn from my accounts!  Just so you know though, Bells service is soooooo bad so dont switch by any means! They hound WAY more to update your service packages every few weeks AND they call after 9pm!!!

That's exactly right. We've paid too and they continue to call.  Even when we called them back as requested & explained that we paid the balance thru online banking - THEY STILL CALL!
Cogeco must be hurting for money if they need to harass their customers this way.
