They called me several times after I bought a domain and I answered one time, they were trying to sell me something and I said  I wasn't interested. They continued to call several times a day without leaving a message. I called them back and listened to a recording. It identified who was calling then tried to sell something. After the recording ended, I hung on through about a minute of silence, hoping someone would pick up and they did, a live human at that. I asked to be put on their do not call list and they said sure. Will see if it worked. I had gotten some of their 50 cent for the first year domains. Good deal but Godaddy sells them for a year for .99 and Gybo gives them to you for a year for free and neither of those call you.

I have done work with register .com for a number of years.  Although I find these calls annoying they are reminding me that my websites etc are about to expire.  I appreciate that.  I do know that when you renew over the phone you do save money.  I've stopped renewing online.  Customer Service is extremely helpful and available without a long wait time.  I am very pleased with their service and continue to use them because of that.

t's register.com, It got about 50 calls from them this week. Apparently some genius in their marketing department thinks it is a good idea to harass their customers. Call them at their corporate number. it is: 212-798-9100. Hit "0" when the auto-prompt comes up. The receptionist's name is Kate. Tell her the issue, and let her know that you don't think phone harassment is an acceptable way of doing business. Ask to speak to Miles the CIO.

CIO of register.com is Myles Trachtenberg. Ask for him, and let him know how much you enjot register's new marketing strategy.

I searched this number and found this website when I started getting calls after calls to my office and a message was never left.  We do use this company and I know that we have domain names expiring.  So I finally picked up and had to ask why they never leaves messages.  They said for security reasons they don't, which makes good sense.  You don't want the wrong person getting any type of info on your important websites or security certificates.  Anyways, I told them I'll renew it when I feel like it.  Lol.

I disagree with your hostile disordered post. You should seek medical treatment for that angry psychological disorder, and a good anger management class. You are unhinged.  There are abusive, harassing sales calls. I've already spent five minutes talking to one sales guy a few days ago. Told him I'd renew on line when I'm ready. Yet, they ignore what I've said and continue to bother with nuisence calls. I am also remined  by constant emails,. since they have the emails attached to domaine name.

I've  talked to them last week, I  understand the domain name is expiring in over one month. Yet, the calls continue to come. I will renew when I'M ready.  Theres nobig special "savings" deal .The Sales folks make comminssion if they get the renewal over the phone, and get the credit. I prefer to renew online when I want to. I won't answer ANY toll free calls, EVER. Both my home and business, it goes to V.M, they never leave any message.

You people are so stupid, you realize that most of the time they are calling you its because they are going to save you MONEY! They have a lot of different promotions that could help your business and all you guys can do is sit there and complain because you don't pick up the phone, instead you just look at it and let it ring!
Maybe if you picked up the phone and just either hear them out and let them know whether or not your interested maybe they will stop calling you!! How are they suppose to know they are bothering you at home when you don't pick up the phone to tell them?
Remember this is a company that you provided your contact information to, so if they shouldn't be calling that number why the hell did you give it to them?
This is not a marketing call, this is not a company that you don't know, or that doesn't have your business, your ridiculous!

1) These calls are NOT for my benefit - we stopped using their service years ago. Nothing is expiring.

2) Since we don't use their stuff anymore, nothing is going to go down. This is purely a sales call. They are calling several times a day. That's not how a reputable company does business.

3) Calling the number back doesn't get you anywhere. You are unable to speak to the person making the calls. Also, I don't want to waste my time dealing with them since I have no business with them and no desire to start doing business with them. Harassing me is not an acceptable form to contact me.

4) Does not apply to my situation since the number has been in the business' name for likely decades.

5) It's not a random company trying to sell my something - it's register.com trying to sell me something. I am NOT currently doing business with them. It is a very bold statement to make the generalization that they are doing business with everybody here and that they are not just another company pushing harassing sales calls.

This is not about courtesy calls for stuff that is expiring. I'm assuming Register.com does make those calls and that's fine (but still not to a harassing level). This is about their sales calls and harassing telephone methods.

5 Reasons why you guys who b***h about these calls are, not just idiots, but F***ING idiots:

1.  When an ACCREDITED company is calling you, its usually for your benefit (e.g. your business website that you make $1000's each month off of is expiring

2. When you don't answer the phone, or you ignore the call, theres a prrrrreeetty good chance that they will call back to make sure your site that brings you INCOME, does not go down, causing you to LOSE INCOME. (You try to call your significant other and they dont answer, you'll probably try to call them back some other day if not the same day.

3. If someone isn't on the line for some reason? CALL THE F***ING NUMBER BACK! Dont f***ing sit there waiting to get called 5, 10, 50 more times so that you can later call back to b***h about how many times they've called.  Its YOUR fault that they've called that many times if you never tried to establish contact.  Its THEIR fault if every time they call theres nothing on the line, but how the f*** do they know that? Its f***ing 2010, everything isn't perfect in this world, technical glitches happen, I bet if your outside house light caught on fire you'd expect your neighbour to come let you know so it doesnt burn down your house, DO A COMPANY YOU ARE IN BUSINESS WITH A FAVOR AND LET THEM KNOW OF THE TEHCNICAL GLITCH SO THEY CAN FIX IT AND NOT HAVE YOU F***ING CRY ABOUT IT.

4. Believe it or not, it is possible that SOMEONE had your same telephone numbeer 10 years ago when they signed up for a 10 year term on a service, dont be a f***ing douche, be a polite citizen and inform the company of this rather than s**t your pants like a f***ing baby.

5. Be happy its not some random company trying to get you to do a survey or sell you products or services from which you've never bought before.  This is a company you ARE currently doing business with and is calling you as a courtesy to save you time from getting off your lazy a**.  You ungreatful f***s have nothing but negative s**t to say until you get put on a Do Not Call list and next year your s**t expires because you didn't get that courtesy call to remind you of it and offer to take care of it for you, and now your pissed that something expired and is going to cost you more to get it back.

I write this message as I feel for these employees, being in the telephone sales industry for many years.  Theres a big difference between getting a call from a telemarketer, someone you dont know and have never conducted business with, and getting a courtesy renewal call from a company that you pay for services with.

You're all a bunch of dicks.

I can't believe how many calls I'm getting from their dialer.  When I called to complain they said "I'll make a note of that", when I asked to speak with the person in charge of the dialler, he said, the person in charge of the dialler does not take calls.  Great, whoever it is, makes a heck of a lot of them, but can't take one him/herself????  Now I'm on hold to speak to a supervisor. Why do we have to bring this to their attention?  Take the time to call.  I'm pissed that a company would do this to good paying customers - are they stupid?  CRM 101 anyone?  JD Power's customer service award winners?  Huh?

I had a call from this number this morning.  I only answered it because I am waiting for a call from someone with an 877 number.  Very bad connection, with a lot of static and noise in the background.  I answered and the man asked for me, but when I said the connection was bad, they hung up.  Now that I am finding out it is register.com, it is irritating.  They called the other day and left at home for me that my account was expiring and it was extremely urgent that I contact them immediately.

I was getting  sometimes 2-3 e-mails per day from them about renweing my domain, how it was expiring very soon and to act quickly before I lost it and by renewing with the special offer I could save a lot of money.  When I checked one of the first e-mails, and checked my domain, it wasn't set to expire until late January 2010 and the e-mails were starting in October 2009. And now the phone calls in November before Thanksgiving.

If you want to block the calls, you can try contacting the phone company or cell provider, also their online account tools sometimes allow setting up blocked numbers.  Some Cell phones can be set to block an incoming call based on the number if the caller ID info is available.  If they Caller ID information is blocked or unavailable, the block may not work.

You can also try filing a complaint with the BBB, consumeraffairs.com, phone company, your state consumer protection agency, FTC, & FCC.

actually my caller id said Out of Area 877-552-0545 not Unavailable.  This makes me think with the bad connection this was from off shore since register.com is based in NYC and I am in NJ, so I would be in the 'Area'.
