I just got a call with no message. I checked my accounts and there are no suspicious charges. You can always call your local branch, I'd do that before calling some toll free number.

It's real. When my husband told me about it after the call I got really freaked out...I mean who asks for the two middle of your ssn? But it's real. To confirm, we called bb&t's customer service line and asked all about it.

Number keeps calling me and i do not have any connection with BB&T or whatever some posts are saying this number belongs to. Smells fishy to me.

Somebody can easily write down your 14 digits of your debit card number, the expiration date, and the CVC code on the back. That is all the information they need. They can do this by just having a look at your debit card  and putting it back in your wallet without you ever knowing if you left it on the table somewhere for too long unattended or gathering information from a website that has been hacked or a company (I.e. Target Breach). Be safe on the internet when you make purchases.

I am associated with BB&T and that is our Debit Card Fraud Monitoring Services department (877-557-0506). They will call to verify if there are any suspicious transactions on your account. I understand it may be annoying if you are making internet purchases, but the internet is were fraud happens the most! So they are doing a good job and looking out for all of their clients.

EVERYONE SHOULD BE HIGHLY SKEPTICAL HERE. SOMEONE IS POSING AS A BB&T REP USING A PHONE NUMBER THAT IS VERY CLOSE TO, BUT IS NOT, BB&T'S (THE MIDDLE 3 DIGITS ARE 577, NOT 557). MY GUESS IS THAT THEY ARE AFTER MORE PERSONAL INFORMATION THAN THEY ALREADY HAVE (E.G. WHO YOU BANK WITH, YOUR CELL PHONE #, MAYBE A FAMILY MEMBER'S NAME) SO THEY CAN STEAL YOUR IDENTITY. I'M CONVINCED THE "SUPPORTIVE" POSTERS HERE ARE THE SCAMMERS THEMSELVES. BEWARE!!!!!

I was extremely skeptical of this call. After being prompted by an automated system to verify a recent charge on my debit/credit card, I didn't even stay on the call long enough to see in depth what kind of information it would request. Being leery, I called my bank to legitimize and make sure my card or personal information had not been compromised. After talking with BB&T's fraud dept., which you can find the number on the back of your bank card, the lady did in which state that this is a legitimate monitoring service that does routinely check on questionable transactions. That is directly from the horses mouth (from the fraud dept. off the number from the back of the bank card...which is currently 18002265228). I'm simply stating that I was directly informed by BB&T that this is a legit phone number. I'm in  no shape or form a scammer or working in behalf of some sort of felonious phishing scam. When in doubt, if you're anything like me...play it safe, and call your bank directly to verify. Even knowing this number is legitimate still makes me no more comfortable than prior. I highly suggest using common sense and reasonable judgment. The less personal information you give over the phone, the better. Legitimate or not, be safe and protect your personal information. Call your bank directly, and if any fraudulent activity is suspected, they should in theory be able to verify likewise. And for whatever reason you still don't feel like something's right, cancel your card if that seems to give you a better piece of mind...better safe than sorry.

You'd actually get a response if you talk to your BANK - this website is an online forum for people who receive unknown/spam/scam calls.  As such, this website has absolutely nothing to do with any transactions from or to your bank.  You'll have to contact your financial institution and talk or write to them.

under federal law is very sirious offense to open an account to any indivudual o corporation that presents false documentation, this is beyond my comprehension that your bank would be involved in something like that; I am requesting full refund of my wire transfer ASAP or you would  leave me no choice but to proceede with a law suit just like my attorneys are advising me.
1100008457792 your bank confirmed that belongs to Factory Closeouts Inc; tha?s why I went ahead with the transaction therefore it is your full responsability and I expect You to Act properly in this matter.

FYI- I got a voicemail from this same number, and do bank with BB&T.  I called the number on the back of my debit card, and was connected to the Fraud Department.  It was a legit call from the bank, and they were verifying a suspicious transaction made to my card.  Turns out, the transaction was one that I had made, it was just out of the ordinary for my purchases on the card.

If you ever doubt, call your bank directly, or stop by, and then they can direct you from there.

This is BB&T's real fraud protection number. I called it back and went through an automated system, though I had a time a few months ago where I had talked to a real person. When I'd gotten to the list of transactions, I had my bank site pulled up and things followed it perfectly. It was all due to some new purchases I'd made, where a couple items were previously declined. I'd gotten them to finally go through. BB&T is pretty strict, but I like that.

This is indeed BB&T fraud department.  Do not ignore it.  They caught approximately 15 transactions that if they had gone through, it would've totaled over $1,440.  They did not ask for any personal information, other than a couple of simple questions to verify it is really you.  They do not ask for your social security number or address or even mother's maiden name.  If you do not feel comfortable speaking with them when they call you, then call the toll-free number on the back of your card; that's what I did after I let the call go to voicemail.  The person I spoke with confirmed they were trying to reach me about possible fraud on my card and then transferred me to the fraud department.  The fraud dept. representative was extremely nice and confirmed this toll-free number is indeed theirs.  I applaud BB&T for being on top of it and catching these attempts at using my debit card number.  They went over each transaction that tried to go through and gave me the dollar amounts and location/store it was attempted.

It's BB@T's fraud department. Someone had access to my card info and tried to make purchases online. They are shutting down my card and mailing me a new one. They did not ask for any specific personal information, so they were not a scam trying to steal my info.

It is a legit number....I got a message and called the number on the back of my debit card. Turns out someone tried to use my card number to buy 200.00 worth of merchandise at a Walmart in a different place.

Got a message from 877 557 0506 on cell phone given a strange name and a case no.  referral asking us to call back concerning potential fraud of debit card.   Dont even bank w/  BB&%.  So I thought someone may have used our cell phone for illicit purpose!   Called the no.,  it asked for Birth year but allowing option to hit 0 for a person.  Did so, a live person came on and asked for my name,  etc.... Refused to give out info instead telling her that I call concerning case # left on the message..  The person is not interested in even asking for case no....   I thanked her and hang up.  Called up the local BB&T and asked if this is the true BB&T fraud line.   The lady named Donna said that she could not verified this because she only use internal no. to contact different departments..... and asked for my last name, etc... Again, I refuse to give out name and ik and just told her that I thought I do the bank a favor by getting back and have them verify the case no.   Again, no interest in case no. left on message, either!   So, it sound like it is a marketing gimmick of some kind at best... or worse,  so beware...

BB&T Fraud line if true, should have their no.  avail. at the local branches for verification.....  In this case,  It is NOT able to verify by a local BB&T branch!

You idiots saying it's a shill are a bunch of morons. It's BB&T fraud department. They ask for NO card numbers. I was actually waiting for the call after my card was declined due to christmas shopping. Now my card is working again. I swear everyone around here is so paranoid it's ridiculous. They don't even ask for your card number or personal identification information when you call back. You just answer 3 basic questions that in no way give out personal information. It's all automated and they just want you to confirm or decline transactions in case of fraud. LEGIT. Plain and simple.
