It's a scam and don't give them any information on the phone.  I live in New Mexico and I'm getting these phone calls.  It's not logical for me to belong to any sports club on the east coast. Plus there are lots of places for free outdoor recreation in New Mexico and the weather is sunny through out the year.  They must have gotten my phone number, because I've sent out my resume on what I thought were legit jobs.

claimed to be nysc saying there was a mistake with the card they had on file and they needed me to update them with the new acct. information.  I am a member at Boston Sports Club, downtown.

I have been getting call from this annoying number for 2 months every day!@!! soo annoying, i picked up once on accident and no one picked up, coincidentally i am also a member of nysc..ugh!!!

This is a NARS number.. I forget the acronym but it's a collection agency. All the agents have heavy Indian or whatever accents. about a year ago I quit and a few weeks later got a form to officially terminate my membership. I filled it out, signed and returned it and forgot all about until a these calls started. I finally called back after a week or so to find out that they want about $160 for unpaid dues! I was asked for my debit card info and  said I'd be calling BSC .
Bottom line, when you terminate membership do it in person and get a signed receipt! I have no proof that I sent that letter back and my credit rating is worth too much to screw with these cretins! They won't try to call you they'll just send it over to the collection agents...very sleazy and sad. BTW BSC is a terrible organization, dirty facilities, poorly trained trainers, A joke...a pathetic joke.

So glad I found this site!  Yesterday, I finally answered the phone when it rang for the thirty millionth time showing this number.  Just like everyone above experienced, the woman calling told me she was from NYSC.  She told me that there was a problem with my billing information, and she wanted me to give her my credit card information.  I was sitting on the subway, and I told her that it would be incredibly idiotic to announce this information in a subway car full of people.  I also asked her why I had not received an e-mail/letter from NYSC since I periodically get news from them via e-mail.  I'm going to my gym today, and I'll talk to them directly.  

I probably would have called this number back and given them my credit card information if it hadn't been for this website.  Thanks, guys!

This is definitely a scam! I finally picked up the phone and the woman I spoke to A)wanted personal information, B)wanted a credit card number, C)mispronounced the name of the town where the "corporate offices" were located and D) pretended to get offended when I called her a scam artist. When I asked her why they didn't just send me an e-mail or just left a message the first time instead of calling 2-3 times a day every freakin' day, she just blamed "the system."

This woman also knew my address and what club location I went to.

If you get a call from 999-999-9999, it's the same thing. My guess is that someone hacked into the Sports Club's main computers and accessed al this information or an disgruntled employee/ex-employee is behind it.

Is the Sports Club doing anything about it, is the question.

SCAM!  They have spoken to us 2-3 times saying they are Boston Sports Club and that something is wrong with the credit card information.  It is completely paid!  When I told her the charge went through, she said, "oh, well it's supposed to go through on the 1st of the month but sometimes it will go on the 2nd," to which I said, "so what are you calling for?"  And then she hung up on me.  I called the actual BSC and they said everything looks fine.  Just a reminder to us all NOT TO GIVE OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!  If you think it is possibly legit, hang up and call the company back at the number on their web site.

I have been getting phone calls at my home for 6 months!  I have ignored the calls, pick-up the phone then hang up on them.  This is harassment!  They call me 3-4 times every day.  I am on the Do Not Call Registry. Perhaps it is time for me to make a formal complaint.  It is 7:45 pm and they just called!  I'm done with them!

This is the billing customer service number from an outsourced company on behalf of NYSC Town Sports. WARNING...DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO. They are calling because you are pass due. They want another credit card or your bank info. They will add this info to your profile and will charge whatever credit card they can without your authorization to get paid. Just tell them to GO TO HELL and that you will update it yourself online. At the very most give them the credit card number that you already have on file. You will not be able to control how you are billed if you are even 2 days late. Again JUST TELL THEM TO GO TO HELL....

I've received at least three calls a day from this number for the last few days.  There is long pause when I answer, then some music starts to play, so I hung up thinking it was some sort of marketing scam. I am also a member of NYSC...

same here.  I think I have recieved over 50 calls form this number.  I have to report it and block it.

I'm a member of Washington Sports Club and have been getting calls from them for the last month or so.  I've never been around to actually answer it though.  It sounds like somebody hacked their phone records or something.

I keep getting a call from them, every other day. Each time the lady on the other end says 'hello' and then the call gets disconnected. I am getting sick and tired of this, the calls did start immeaditely after I became a member at NYSC.

Boston Sports Club (BSC) collections or billing

Got a call on 1/18/08. I dont' know how many times they called. Caller ID says out of area. Left a message saying they were NYSC (I am a memeber) call Mellisa at x-153. Called back and know one answered. I just changed my credit card info 2 weeks prior at the gym. I know everything is ok. It sucks to have to deal with this crap!

yeah i'm a member of nysc. they called me too. i didn't answer. if this is a scam what is nysc going to do about it? anything?

I was also receiving numerous calls from this #. I answered yesterday and the lady claimed to be a rep from New York Sports Club (which at first didnt seem suspicious because I am a member of)stating that there was a system error and my billing information was lost. I informed her I didnt feel comfortable giving her that info over the phone and would give it to the front desk at the gym when I went later that day.  After hanging up, I went to NYSC website and signed into my account, and found my billing info correct and intact. I then called the gym directly to confirm there was no problem, and there was not. Please do not fall for this scam and never give billing info over the phone if someone calls to ask for it.

I am a member of that club, they called me fishing for personal ionformation but the information they had was erroneous - this seems to be some sort of scam to get personal indformation...they claimed to be in the philadelphia area, but mispronounced the town which lead me to believe they are based in an overseas call center...

In the past week I've gotten 10 phone calls from this number, none of which I answered. They finally left a message today, claiming to be NYSC.

For the past month, I've been getting 2 phone calls  a day from this number. I'm a member of Boston Sports Clubs, and I had recently updated my billing info to a new CC after the original one expired. I did this easily enough through the 'update billing info' tab on my online mysportsclubs.com account page. There were no problems with this, and the new CC was charged as usual on the 1st of the month.

So *why* do they keep calling me? They've never once left a message, and the one time I did pick up there didn't seem to be anybody on the other end.

As this is my cellphone, this is getting extremely irritating. I'd call them myself and tell them to knock it off, but the last time I called customer service to settle a billing dispute (they overcharged me by some random-seeming amount), I had to wait 2 hours on hold, got into a dispute with the operator who couldn't add 2+2, and was rudely hung up on.

I just got a call from 9999999999.  A woman claimed to be from New York Sports Club asking for my new credit card number (I got a new card a month ago)  I have also received many many many calls from 8775609713, claiming the same thing.  I went into my local Sports Club and updated my records in person over two weeks ago.  I did not give my new number over the phone.  I think these kinds of unidentifiable numbers are being used by people trying to get hold of credit card details.  NYSC say it is nothing to do with them.  Beware!

sounds like a scam unbeknown to NYSC (town sports) ... I nver answer as they keep calling my cwll phone, and God only knows the ridiculous amounts of $$ they could be charging me... but it is very annoying.  Has anyone alerted NYSC/BSC/WSC of this potential security breach in their records/files/database??

I get at least 5 calls a day from this number - which i don't answer.  We are members of Boston Sports Club - but they don't have this particular phone number of mine - I never give anyone but business associates this number that I'm getting calls on....  I think they may have left a message to ask us to call them once - but I ignored it.

As was explained to me... The peoplecalling are a collections agency. If nysc doesn't collect payment for 3 mo then you will get these calls. I went down to my club for answers and it was explained. I update my credit card on file and the gl said he would email the collections agency. No problems since.

This number is legit.  I just called Boston Sports Club and they put me through to their main service department.  They confirmed that they do indeed outsource their call center and that the 877 number is legitimate.  It's a shame they've set it up in such a seemingly sketchy way, but it's nothing to worry about.

They called many times this week. Their caller ID is listed as "Out of Area". They said they represent Washington Sports Club (which my wife is a member of) and that the credit card my wife is using for monthly fees is no longer valid, which has been the case for months because of cancellation due to fraud. They even had the last four digits of the cancelled card correct. Call me sceptic, but I can only assume that they do not represent the Washington Sports Club and that they are fishing for my credit card number.

Just called NYSC and confirmed that this 877-560-9713 number is their collection department. The lady from this 877 number asked me to update my billing info over the phone since my visa was expiring, which is NOT until 2010!! NYSC needs to have their database in check.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that this number IS in fact from the NYSC collection department.
