I got one of these call too. If you call the number back, as I did, a recording answers that says "Welcome to Local Area Yellow Pages"
Gene 2011-06-06 21:04:38 Unknown
I answered and stated the name of my business twice, but no one spoke. I could hear back ground noise and voices. F_ _K 'em.
Grr 2011-06-06 21:04:38 Unknown
The number is 1-877-562-2597, and showed up as "AC" on my caller ID. The people call and innocently start out by wanting to "verify" your business' information. Then they eventually confuse you and work around to sending you a trial for something, which sounds innocent enough itself. Suddenly you've agreed to accepting a trial that, when it lapses, begins a subscription of $39.95 (sneaky), which is rolled into your phone bill. If you call their toll free number, there's a confusing message that says you can either press one to hear the menu in English (which is what you want to do), or to press 0 and leave a message and a representative will get back to you (which if you do that it says that's not a valid option). Press one, and talk to a representative. The representative I spoke with picked up the phone and identified herself as Patrice (as some have noted her name to be...she DOES still, in fact, work for this company, and this was on March 28th of 2011). I told her we didn't need the service and wanted to cancel. She gave me a confirmation number and told me it was cancelled. Then, before she hung up, she said her name was Katrina. Yeah, definitely a scam if ever there was one.

These annoying people keep calling and most times hang up. I have each call directed to my cell phone and they call sometimes a few times a day. I have to pay for each call transferred by my business phone. I tried call block from Verizon but it does not work for these calls so I removed it again. We need help from the government or the FCC or whoever to stop these annoying callers from calling to get our free listing info and then trying to sell us something 10 minutes after that. We're busy plumbers and can't handle stopping what we are doing every few minutes for this kind of crap! HELP!
Rufus 2011-06-06 21:04:38 Unknown
I know the Chris guy, and he's a nice guy. You need to call their US office to truly get the number taken out of the database though, because you can't trust their Indian call center to do it. Those telmarketers get paid on convincing you to try their service, so they're going to say or do anything they can to hook you. I don't know anything about Patrice or whether she works there or not, but Chris is upstanding.
call 415-982-3455 and immediately request a supervisor.

Thease people are none of the above. They caled me on my cell phone recently while I was visiting in the U.K. When I arrived home they were on my caller i.d. at 2:00 a.m. (in the morning)
They are paid snoops scouting out properties in the Louisville, Kentucky region. They pack cameras when they believe your not at home.
Persons of interest include:
William Francis Marshall 111, Tiffany Ernspiker of Surepoint Lending, Jordan Pohn, Jane Marshall, Roman Rodriguez,
Leslie Lyons, & Michelle Leverenz.
Beware of these individuals, & notify your local authorities if you suspect these scoundrels are casing your home. They are true con artist!
Thank you Emily

So I called the cell of Patrice who was absolutely incensed that I'd call her cell number - wow, you hate getting phone calls from people you don't want to speak to? When I called back she said she no longer worked for the company and that she'd sue me. She must really hate phone solicitors.
When I called Chris he apologized and said that they closed that phone center but then said he'd remove my number if I emailed him at: cchen@telava.com
When I asked if Patrice was still with the company he said yes but she's on vacation. Must suck to have to deal with getting phone calls when you're on vacation...
enough 2011-06-06 21:04:38 Unknown
Here's some more info for ya: The Cell Phone number of Patrice Kair is 415-710-9069. Just start calling that number back over and over, every time they call you. Tell her how much you hate annoying phone calls. Let her know how you REALLY feel. Call her morning, noon and night to remind her.

The caller id that popped up when this call came in and a message was left was 415-555-1212.
The person who left the message did leave the telephone number of 877-562-2597. Her message was that our free 30-day trial was about to expire.
When I called the 877 number she left, I was told that someone in our volunteer organization had signed up for this service. I said that person was not authorized to make transactions and whatever "service" was involved needed to be canceled. The man on the phone wanted to know the reason we were not taking advantage of their services, which are some sort of webpage work.
I stated that our organization has a web page that is professionally designed by a member of our group and that site is hosted by his company.
The man on the phone said he would cancel our order. We'll see if anything shows up on our phone bill.
This sounds like a complete and total scam!

We get these calls just about every week at my place of employment. Every single time, I stop the woman (who always sounds like the same lady) and tell her that we don't want any more calls from them and they need to take us off their list. And every single time, she tells me that this is the first time they have called me - what nerve! They are always very rude and will never let me speak to a supervisor. One time, I did manage to get a phone number for a supervisor, and I called and complained and was taken off the list, but the calls started again a few months later.
I speak to them every week and I am never nice to them - I will continue to harass them and they will continue to hang up on me. I guess that's all I can hope for at this point...

Local Yellow Pages, i'm surprised these types of companies are still making these calls, then again..i'm not surprised I guess. If a toll free number calls to verify any information (ie address, phone number, etc) unless you are expecting that type of call for a reason, don't verify s***. Just politely or rudely hang up. :)

Yellow Page scam. After a long pause a woman with a think Indian accent finally comes on the line, with a torrent of background noise, and says "This is Andi and I am calling from your local area Yellow Pages"

received a call multiple times I called their 415 number and complained, they transfered me to a lady who took me off their corporate call list, after I told her that my husband is a police officer and its very disturbing to receive those calls, I also let her know that we record all calls and she told me that the number used to belong to a business, which is true, the guy who had the number dissapeared, judging be the collection call we used to receive , I am not surprised.
She was very curtious and actually told me to call the county and let them know that the number still is listed as a business, and they could take the numer off the public business listing.
we will see if that did the trick

Another annoying, no answer call that I dropped everything I was doing to answer. When will the govt' make a law about these annoying calls that works? Or when will the phone co. let you block them like Emails? I have to pay message units for this crap! (also: Verizon call block doesn't work on these-I tried it!)
Glorybound 2010-05-24 16:49:24 Unknown
No telling how many times we have been charged by this company in the past...this is the first time I've actually checked into it. I've just discovered there is an option on my phone that says "block call". Now that I know this is a scam, I have simply blocked their number on my phone. Woo hoo! What a great feature to have on your phone...you may have it on yours too, and not know it. I plan to use this feature every time I get a solicitor calling...

We received a very long call, and were assured there was no charge UNLESS at the end of the 30 days period we requested the service to continue. The letter we received did state the service must be cancelled however, which I did not realize until the courtesy call today.
I did have to remain on the line for a bit waiting for an operator to answer my call. The service was cancelled and a confirmation number was given. After reading the information online I alerted our treaurere not to pay any bills from this company.
Watch out, they speak in half truths!
