have you ever heard of knock on door? ring doorbell? i was in my garage with the door up in plain view. they could have said something right? guess they were too scared to talk face to face!

got one the other day, hope they come calling again. will write down license plate and contact police, state attorney general office. if that doesn't work, well choice between louisville slugger or the smith and wesson boys.

I received a "Gift Notice" with the GE logo covered up by a sticker.  I did not call and thanks to the heads up from this site I won't.

Are you guys serious... You receive a harmless lil piece of paper on your door and you freak out? Call the # and find out what it is... It is not a scam, they are an authorized dealer, and it is a really good deal that they have. Especially with the economy the way it is. It might be a wise decision to protect your investments.  Or just sit and hide behind your keyboard and miss out.  ... Look out there is a note on my door! Oh my...you need to get a life.

Got this notice on my door as well on 9/11/08.  Smae thing, GE logo covered with black marker and with an orange sticker saying call today.  I am going to do a little investigation into this company with the local Police Department as they owe me a few favors and we will see just how ligitimate they are.

Surveillance video shows a middle aged caucasian man walking directly from my neighbors house to my house. He placed the note on the door and left, didn't bother to ring the bell.

Got the same "Gift Notice" today with the orange sticker over the GE logo.  We live near the airport.  Other neighbors did not get the same notice.

Scammers have made their way to the Northland..."gift" notice left on my door today same as everyone elses. The GE logo was covered up by an orange sticker, so perhaps GE was getting calls related to this marketing ploy.
I'm tempted to turn them in; but judging by the comments on this site and others, it's probably a waste of time and they'll just move on to a different neighborhood.

Yep; It's a BS, deceptive way for them to try to push their "security systems."  You know, if they were just up front about it, I might have even considered it. But it they try to hide behind this much deception already, I'd hate to imagine how bad it is after you have already given them any money. Steer clear of these guys and anyone who tries marketing something to you in this manner.

Hey, did you see the news today?  A 93-year-old woman in southern California was burglarized by two young college-age men who had visited her house earlier that day, posing as ADT representatives trying to sell her a new security system.  After learning that her present system was not connected, they broke into her house while she was at church or somewhere. But she came home and surprised them in the house, and she shot at one of them but missed.  Wow, I guess you already found a new job!  But please get out of California, we have enough problems already.

This is actually a bold faced lie. The LPS# is the Employee's personal number so we could get credit for the call. Mine was 8698, the last for digits of my social security number.

Hey, just so you know I just got fired because this web site makes my job impossible, because people have decided that I'm not a college student trying to work my way through school so I don't end up with student loans for the rest of my life like my mother; I am in fact some sort of insane person who goes around at 2 in the morning (not between the hours of 12-5 when I was actually getting paid, but at 2 in the morning.) so I can rob you.
    The gift notice was for a security system through DSSI (Direct Security Systems Inc.) an authorized dealer of ADT security systems. It's an offer for a security system, all hardware free of charge if you pay the monitoring fee (29.95;34.99;or 40.99 depending on the service package)and a 99 dollar installation fee. There is a 36 month (three year) contract that's it. I never even looked at most houses enough to know if I was doing the same street twice, let alone cased them to break in.
    But now, thanks to a few people who couldn't A) Call the number to find out or B) Throw the thing away, I have to go find another job. But it's ok, now that I'm not out robbing houses all the time I'll have plenty of time to look for one. Maybe my co-workers that also got fired can help me look.
    I just think it's funny that if we knock on your door we're annoying solicitors, but if we just put a post-it on your door and don't bother you, we're thieves.

(Just one little side note, this is only for the Kansas City Metro Area, I think they do the same thing in St. Louis, but I never worked for the St. Louis branch so I honestly can't speak for them)

Direct Security Services, Inc. is an authorized dealer, but ADT was unable to find that phone number.

Direct Security Service, Inc. on Johnson Drive admitted they were responsible for the post-its when I called. This is their direct line if you want to give them a piece of your mind: Phone: (913) 529-0029.  They said the GE emblem and sticker was because the system they used to install was made by GE but they use a different system now. I am calling ADT corporate to complain about the post-it tactic.

I found one when I put the trash out this morning.  I heard the neighbors dog bark at 2:00am.  They must have stuck it to the garage door then.

I spoke to the Police Department and this group is not associated with ADT, they are posing as ADT employees to determine what time you get home. It is a scam to see when your house is most vulnerable to break-in. Because no crime has been committed there is nothing the PD can do. The LPS# identifies your address so they know which house to come back to.

Same sticker was on my door when I got home today.  Going into the recycle bin with the rest of the junk mail.

This was on my door when I got home from work yesterday.  I found that it was suspicious as well... Will not be calling them either!
