They called me in regards to a bill from COX and the problem was, I dont owe Cox any money.  After further research and calling Cox several times, I find out that Cox did not turn my service off when I moved out from a house that I sold, even though they had it in their notes that I was moving and not going to continue with their service.  I even turned the equipment in to their local office where I was told to go.  Now, they want me to pay for 4 months of service at my old house because they failed to turn off the signal even though the equipment was in their possession.  I have not lived there for almost 8 months and not even in the same state any longer.  This number states that they do not care because they were hired to collect a debt - not satisfy any customer realtions issue.  Upon calling Cox, they see the mistake and "will make every attempt to have the collection company stop calling me."  However, it will still not repair the hit my credit took when this collection company reported the unpaid bill to the credit bureau.  In my opinion, both are scam artists!

I got a call from someone that said they are collecting a debt. I do owe Cox like $77. It hasn't even been two months since I left them and it's already gone to collections. Really!? These people are pathetic. The number has been blocked.

I received a call from this number. I did not answer and they did not leave a message.

I've NEVER even had service through "Cox" and I'm receiving collection calls from them too! Personally, I think all cable company's overcharge for what they have to offer.  After having to call the company I used to have, over 14 times in less than a year, and the problem was never resolved, I went with Direct TV!  As for the collection calls,Now they go straight to voice-mail!!

lady called on 12 September 2013 and I did not understand her means due to noise in career fair. after an hour I called and asking my name said that they did not called.

I paid my closing bill at my local Cox store.  They told me I never returned one of my DVR boxes.  I told them I had returned it a month earlier.  The rep said that happens all the time.  He would request an inventory and it should show up in their warehouse. A week later i get a call from their collections...for equipment I returned a month earlier!   What a scam Cox has running!

No idea why they are calling me, COX has never been the local cable company in 16 years, it's always been Comcast and their predecessors, plus Verizon FIOS of course. As for the phone, I've had it for two years but it isn't the first weird collection call I get.

I am believing that this is a Scam.  

I have not had Cox in my home for almost a year.  I went w/ Direct TV.  I returned the equipment, within a week of switching.  

But what really has me thinking this is a scam is the phone they are calling.  The phone they are calling was not even my phone up until 5 - 6 months ago.

Had called here daily for another person I never heard of and left a recorded message about trying to collect a debt.  Although the recording stated "if you are not xxxxxx xxxxxx, please disconnect,"  and I did, it didn't work.  Finally having enough, I answered the call and asked for their address.  She wouldn't answer, and I reminded them about the Federal law that they have to give it to me.  Supposedly Credit Counseling Service, P O Box 120630, Newport News, VA.  When I told her I had never heard of this person, she stated that she would remove my number.  One more call, and I'm reporting them to the appropriate agencies.

I have it in writing that cox would cancel my service. They did not. Had to charge back on credit card then they sent to collection agency. Resolved with collection agency THEN received call from this number.

I received a call from this number but it had nothing to do with Cox communications as other posters.  This was a service calling about a college that I had viewed online and requested information and they wanted to connect me to an admission representative.

I got a call from this number on my phone.  I looked it up and it's Cox Cable.  I cancelled them in October after their Free McAfee Antivirus crashed my computer and cost me $200 to repair and reinstall all my programs.  Their customer service was terrible as I was going through this drama.  They sent me a final bill for $100.00, which I haven't paid yet.
So they are probably calling me to get their money.

I got a call from t his number and have Cox cable, however for sure I do not have a past due bill. My bill gets paid automatically every month, and I even checked my account on their site. Could be that they also do marketing from this number.  Caller left no message and my caller ID just said "800 service". Don't know what they wanted.

Got a call from this number...Cox Collection Agency...Wanting me to pay up for canceling and moving out of service area, even though I have talked to a rep and explained the situation numerous times.  I was never late and paid everything in full while i had the service.  I canceled and moved out of their service area and they are trying to get me with a early termination fee..when clearly that does not apply to me since I MOVED.

They've called me all day today and never left a message. I think I've seen that number before on my caller ID, but never looked it up. I never did business with Cox and hace had this number for over 20 years. Caller ID just says toll free number.

I, like the rest of the individuals on here owe money to Cox Communications.  The problem though is I received a bill for over $1,000.  This was inclusive of all the equipment and have yet to send a final bill amount after the equipment was picked up.  I even went as far as to provide Cox with the reference number the guy who picked up the equipment gave me only to get a bs response that I still owe $1,000.  This is not acceptable!  I am not paying for the equipment that I do not have.

I received my first call from this number a couple weeks ago, they called and left a message saying "This message is for Christina regarding a personal business matter", if they can't state who they are, they are not getting a call back!

We owe Cox for a services and did for equipment. We returned the equipment but yet they have no record of it. Also I have made several offers to pay what we can each month till the debt is satisfied but am told that they cannot accept this. I dont have the extra money to just pay it or it would be paid already. Also they keep calling my work when they dont reach me on my cell phone. We will never do buisness with cox again.

This number continues to call me, I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. They finally left a message for someone named Lee calling from "credit control." the number they left to call was 1 877 570 4050

I don't know why this company keeps calling me. I had never heard of Cox communications until I googled the number that had been repeatedly calling me. I went to their website, they don't even service my area.

Sales pitch for real estate giving this number to call, but actually listed on caller ID as 877-570-0500 which was another Cable Co's number.

Maybe if cox would say who is calling in their voicemessage they might get a callback once in a while. I only owe a couple hundred bucks but told them medical bills etc so it will be a while. When I am able to make pymts I will pay cox directly not this collection agency.

It is Cox Communications collections dept.  Appaerently, they don't need to tell you that when you sign up for new service, you are signing a 2-year contract.  I paid my final bill at a Cox store and there was no mention of an early termination fee.  $168 later, they are finally off my back.  A-holes all the way.

Credit Control 4902 Eisenhower Blvd Ste 155 Tampa Florida 33634. I used to work here and more than half of the collectors are high all day every day even the guy running it is high as hell. when they hassle you just have your lawyer contact them.

I stopped my service with cox and went to century link. Best move I have made. 7 days after I stopped service with cox, I got a collection notice. They will be lucky now to get any money after pissing me off. Wait long enough and the collection drops off your credit report. Got a call from this number but I will never answer. Haha cox you idiots

I received a call and a reference number but no identifying information. When I called back they identified themselves as "Credit Control." Sounds like a collection agency to me.
