My daughter just received a call from A Chambers & Associates 866-519-4112 is the number they said to call but the number came in locally.  They left a message saying they were going to take money out of my checking account????  For what???

Apparently this company could be a fraud. The Supervisor, Laura Lee, can be reached at 1-(866) 519-4111, and claims that she is able to email proof that the company is legit. I have not received such information at this time, and would not recommend that you give this company any money at all, regardless of the circumstances, until you are comfortable that everything is on the up and up. Unfortunately, Ms. Lee has no problem being rude and even hanging up on a caller- so it is best to get any needed information before she decides the conversation is confrontational. Laura Lee also apparently believes that she does not have a supervisor and will provide a website address with no active links. Do your homework with this company and avoid being scammed!

I also suspect they have several addresses. According to the wesite, they are in the "Amherst Area", however there is no address available.

Google Statute of Limitations for your state and talk to an attorney.  The Statute of Limitations chart will tell you what the number of years are for in your state.

Don't answer the telephone or return calls to any number that you do not recognize.  Check the statute of limitations in your state.  Just google Statute of Limitations and it will tell you how many years your state has for debt barred debts. - means old debts.

These people just left a very threatening message.  When I called the number they would not give me any information about who they were other than their name - no address, supervisor's name, company ownership.  After I asked several more questions, they hung up on me.

Real debt collection companies do not act this way

On 11-4-11 got a voice mail call from a Lloyd Gentry of this number. He left a vm in a fast paced manner and it was about a Christian Martenez--that toad has been using my phone number for 6 years as a 'reference', and there were also a couple of claim numbers that I wont publish here of course. I called back on Monday AM and got a answer right away-- the person was not professional, but answered in a secretive way.  I got fairly assertive about the issue and the #%$^&# hung up on me. Goes to prove, these are scam feeders plain and simple.

If you feel you must work with them (and I think this is a scam, but that's just my opinion) just send them a copy and keep your originals.  These scammers try to extort money from people who have never had debt with these companys or have paid it off already.   Protect your self by not giving them ANY information, or anything but copies if you feel you need to.  Good luck.  Anyone can pick a name off the internet.  If you put in Rothstein and Associates, you get legal offices, CPA firms, etc.  Unless they give you a physical address, don't waste your time.

I have received many calls on our business line from this company looking for a woman who has never worked for me.  Today a man saying his name was John Anderson threatened to come after me when I insisted on the mailing address to send a letter to stop the calls. I have reported them to the local police as well as the Att General in both states.  Is there anything else I can do?

I got a call from VCS concerning a Cashnet debt.  I paid them off last june but now I am getting calls from a Rothstein and Associates saying the debt was never paid and they are filing a civil suit on behalf of Cas Net.  They offered to settle for and additional $1000.  I am not paying these people any more money!  Has enyone heard of this Rothstein and associates?  I am afraid to send them my paperwork from VCS saying I paid the debt.

Calls from 916-476-2389. We told them to send something in the mail verifying business they wish to conduct. The woman became evasive and finally hung up.

I, too have been receiving phone calls from 916 476 2389.  First it is a robo-call, a recorded message asking for me, and if it is me, I am supposed to press "1" and then wait for a real person.  After the first call I received, I pressed the "1" and found that I had to wait for a real person.  I said blow this and hung up. Got a few more recorded calls and hung up.  Last call I pressed "1" and got the real person.  Something about the company being related to financial services.  The Person wanted me to re-identify myself, and I refused until I was informed what the call was about.  She said she couldn't do that without verifying my identity because it was about a "personal business matter." We had a Mexican stand-off, so she finally said she would have to reach me by mail if she had my current address. She was rude and clearly angry that I would play her game the way she wanted me to play it.  I suspect this is debt collection agency, although I have no outstanding debts.

Thank you AMAZED you are so right.  Folks, realize that the responses which sound as though some light has been revealed and they are soooo thankful about "forgotten" debt are the very same folks many have commented about.  BEWARE.  Get your free credit report (1 from each agency once a year---you should check it every year for free)  annualcreditreport.com

If you do find this company on your report, check to see which company (your old debt) they are attempting to collect for.  If it's more than 7 years that you owed the particular company (the orginal debt company), you can have the credit bureau remove the collection company from your report by telling the credit agency that the debt is old and ties to an old creditor (use the dispute button on the computer or send the credit bureau a written note)

I paid mine off, have documents, they still call me and my mother with cancer...i have filed with the DA and feds but still get calls....so tired of it...I could change my number but they still have my moms and its a land line she depends on....its one thing to try to collect but mine is paid and i dont know what to do...

Someone named Joseph Strauss called and informed me that my husband defaulted on a loan with Chek n go(not intentionally) due to the severity of his illness.My husband was in a coma twice within five months and has been very costly to us.Mr. Strauss informed me that if he didn't pay the loan he owes , he would GO  to the nursing home and confront my husband personally.Is this legal or what ? Being afraid of his giving my husband a heart attack or something, I provided him with my credit card info which he set up to withdraw three payments in three months.Please let me know if this is really a scam, I am struggling now to pay bills and to have someone threaten my husband's life while in a nursing facility should be illegal.I am willing to repay the loan but not financially able to do so at this time due to unforeseen illness.If I stop payment will they have reason to persecute my husband while confined to a nursing home?

I have been receiving phone calls from them as well.  They call from a 716-831-9041 number and then say to return their call at 877-572-7572.  They just call and say they have a claim against me, but they don't tell me who it's with or how much it's for.  Then they called my parents looking for my personal information.  I don't know if the agency is a scam or not.  I have their address - 4244 Ridge Lea Road #6, Amherst, NY 14226.  A collection agency needs to prove that you OWE a debt and who it's with.  Also, if you go to their website - vision-credit.com, and ask for their contact info, they don't give you a number or address.  However, there is a place to put your credit card info.  I would ask them to send you a letter of the debt and who it is with.  Then verify your original creditor has placed your debt with this agency.  Too many scammers out there.  Also, you cannot be arrested for failing to pay.  This is a civil process.  And if they issue a judgment against you, you either have to go to court as the defendant, or acknowledge this is your debt.

Receive calls daily from 877-572-5752 ext 114, Jessica.  Threathens me with legal action and jail if I don't give her my checking account info. Told her I never received anything in the mail from them.  Asked her what address she had on file for me and it was an addess from 7 years ago!!!  Guessing this is not a legit call.  When I told her the address was incorrect she got mad and said, "too bad you have to pay anyway"  I told her I'd have my attorney call her. Not sure how they got my new work number though, that kinda bothers me.

a reply to the poster who said they garnished 25% of your wages...even child support doesn't garnish that much! a creditor can only get 10% so your story doesn't check out.  you probably work for them!

I get calls just about every other day and messages saying im a fraud and blah blah blah,claim number,and the whole I need your information,social, and s**t like that,if you dont comply within the end of the business day they will be forced to take legal action against me,blah blah blah,is that a threat? hmmmmmm,let me guess,F*** yea it is,you cant get arrested for not paying a debt,it just goes to collections,does VCA say that they are collections.Did I even get one letter in the mail from VCA?? Hell no,I havent got nothing from them,zip,nada. You must, must, report them to the New York AG and your state AG.  Only takes 10 minutes at most to complete the reports for your state and NY (they are all online).  Also, beware, they have gone by 6 different names over the last 3 years, none of them listed with the Corporate Commission in NY (so where they are getting the LLC is nothing short of fraud).  They have been outlawd from doing business in Maine for their illegal collection activities.  They are an offshoot of the old "MacKennon Group of illegal debt collectors" based out of Buffalo area of NY.  The tactics make the Gestapo, KGB, and Stassi look like Boy Scouts in comparrision.  Also, beware, there are some reports that they are falsifying debt ownership documents.

Every state has a different garnishment percentage!! Way to sound smart though!! I'm assuming that you are behimd on your child support as well!

I received a call from 716-831-9041 and was left a voicemail to call back 877-572-7572, a Mrs Schaeffer, she has worked with me & allowed me to make payments on the account. I as well was very leary of this company being a scam but now I feel more confident that I can work with them to resolve my matter. I owe the debt so I am paying. The company is VCS Associates, they do outsourse work for United Debt Holdings, which bought the original debt from ChecknGo. (Internet payday loan)

I think people who bash debt collectors are people that owe out alot of money.... I mean you know you took the loan out and never paid it back and in some rare cases where it is fraud you should have that proof such as a police report or something from your bank showing fraudulent activity... I mean these people do their jobs to call you to try and get the $$ that you, in all reality STOLE and you have the nerve to get mad and call them scums......They are legit and I challenge someone to prove otherwise..... So for all you that owe payday loans watch out cause they will be callin you..and if they cant get a hold of you your momma, grandama,job,neighbor ect.
