I've been harassed and threatened by these people for a few weeks.  They are calling old employers, family and friends and threaten to show up at my work.  However, the first call I got was from the person who needs to deliver these papers to me but she needed my home address.  Funny, if it's legit, they should already have it!  They did scare me into giving them a cc over the phone, but after reading and googling them, I reported my card stolen so the charge wouldn't go through.  Now they are really harassing me with phone calls.

Sorry but the BBB can't do anything about this. The FBI fraud division can. This is not an actual business. If any of the people who called and actually left a voicemail with their voice you can use it against them. I have a couple of voicemails of them threatening me. I live in California and can't legally record a conversation but these idiots left voicemails so I'm gonna use them to throw their a***s in prison and hopefully it's for a very long time. Caleb Harris and Geneva from Longview acquisitions are scam artist. Do not erase your voicemail cause we can all use it to help prosecute these people. Good luck and I will post more when the FBI gets back to me.

Ignore 'em.  Total scam.   If  they have a legitimate debt, tell them to send all the particulars to you by US mail.   E-Mail no good.  They don't do this, then just ignore them.  Don't send them any money and don't give out any financial information to them!   Don't let them frighten you by having them toss around a lot of worthless legal terms.

Report them!     https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Yes there is a UPS store in that Mall.    And yes, It's a common practice.  I look up a lot of these debt scammer addresses on Google earth and they are almost always located in a mailbox at a UPS or similar store.  Of course in most instances you can't locate them at all.  But once in a while they make a mistake and can be located.

After some online investigation, I demanded a letter stating my debt. No return adress and no postmark. These people are full of s***. They are a scam. So if you get a call from Longview Acquisition, in particular, Diego Rios, report them to the consumer fraud agency and the BBB.They can't do a damn thing to you

I have received this information as well, I have a different number 8887948460.  I had an arrangement set up and something seemed fishy.  When I received the email document from them I looked the address up on google maps and it appears to be a strip mall.  I contacted an attorney for advice and he said it's fraud this is a common practice -
Longview Acquisition
3221 Southwestern Blvd. Suite 263
Orchard Park, NY 14217
This is the address I received.....hope this helps, I would not give them any of your information and this is a good tip from the attorney a lot of these scammers use strip malls as their address and then if you look close usually you can see a UPS store this is another key to knowing it's a scam......anyone else have these experiences?

Have received numerous calls from a restricted number the person's name is Michael Keller, and so has my husband to serve me with papers. It is apparently in regards to a "Loan" that I took out on March 19, 2012 when the rep "Gabriel" that I spoke with transferred me to a "Tina" @ ext 403 she stated the loan was for September 19, 2012. I have never had a payday loan before. After asking the rep for information in regards to the loan she refused to mail me anything that she had and I refused to verify the address, but repeatedly asked her what address she had on file. Today I received another call that I refused to answer so the lady left a VM stating that the previous rep had issues serving the papers and she needed to verify my address, and threatened to contact my employer.  Is there a way this company could be charged with harassment?

It started off with a man calling my mom blocked stating that he was trying to find me so he could serve me papers. He also was calling me blocked but I do not answer any blocked numbers. He gave my mother this 877 number and so i called. The company was called longview acquisitions. They were claiming I owed money to a payday loan service from 5 years ago before I got married. Was extremely rude to me told me "good luck in court" and hung up. When I called back I got the same guy who I believe was a "secretary" he connected me back to the same guy who was rude to me. He refused to let me speak to a supervisor over him and said there was no one I could speak to about my debt. I told him i didnt want to talk to him about my debt I wanted to speak to him about how rude he was to me he finally transfered me to some other girl who was a case manager just like him. They told me if I got served the papers and signed that I would be in court for some type of breach in contract or something and that I would be paying about 3500 or my wages be garnished 25% each check. But if I didnt sign the papers and I voluntarily paid I would only be paying 115 dollars and I wouldn't be served papers. I couldn't find this company online anywhere.  I think its a scam. Most company's let debt just go to your credit report after that length of time. So idk I just think its fake and I will be reporting it.

Email is not legal -per the FDCPA you should NOT pay any caller who refuses to MAIL a debt validation letter showing that (1) you owe a debt and that (2) they have the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to MAIL this debt validation letter is a violation of the FDCPA and you should not pay them!  Threatening you with a lawsuit if you don't pay them is another violation of the FDCPA.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Longview Acquisitions called- incidated they need my address to serve papers on a debt I owe.  I asked for more information regarding the debt.  When I did, the person on the other end, Leah Walker, asked if I was going to agree to settle.  I indicated that I needed to confirm the debt and then I would call him back.  He indicated that I had better do this before the "papers" are served.  I asked, what if I wait?  He said there would not be any options if I waited.  I told him I would investigate the debt and get back to him.

They wanted my friend of mine to payoff an old payday loan from 2003.  She never took payday loans out back then and 11 years have past anyways.  They tried with the, "We're going to serve you" crap.  Serve all day long, it's not against the law to be in debt. So then she decides to play along as though she is gonna pay, even though she has no intention. She asked them how she goes about paying it off..  They tell her the only way is to buy one of those Walmart Visa cards and put the money on that then give them the number.. They said they would not accept anything but the pre~paid visa..  LOL  Scam, scam, scam written all over that.  She is going to report them.

I received a call from a different number, but it's the same company.

I received a call from a restricted number twice in a row, followed by a call from a NY based cell phone number, from which a message was left by a woman named "Macy" stating that a claim was filed against me and that they needed to confirm either my home or work address so that I can be "served."  I was given a case number and told to call 1-877-594-9166.  Told this was my "one chance" and that I had been notified.  This woman then called my husband's cell phone with the same message.  I later found out that she called my office this morning too demanding to speak to my supervisor.  Our receptionist is a fantastic lady, though, who told her off.  I do owe payday loans, but this is ridiculous behavior that is against the fair collections practices.

They called me threatening to send the police to my job - no they never came. I did make one payment with them and then stopped. John O'Brien called this morning to get another payment. When I asked for his address he asked me why did I need it - that they don't accept mailed in payments. I responded with that I like to have the contact information of companies I do business with. He advised that he would "email" me a letter confirming the debt - NEVER GOT IT! Went online to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I have used them before and they ensure companies are following the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If I owe a company, yes I will pay them but when they won't offer any information about themselves, you should not. OH NOW THEIR NAME IS LONGVIEW ACQUISITIONS, NOT BROWNSTONE CAPITAL

A Collection Agent May Not?

Here are the top 11 actions prohibited by the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

Misrepresent Him or Herself

A debt collector may not misrepresent himself as an attorney or law enforcement officer.

Use the Telephone to Annoy or Harass

A collection agent may not cause a telephone to ring or engage any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with an intent to annoy, abuse, or harass anyone at the called number.

Threaten Arrest or Lawsuit

A collection agent may not threaten a consumer with arrest. It may not threaten legal action that is either not permitted or not actually contemplated. In other words, a the threat of a lawsuit may be an empty one.

Use Abusive or Threatening Language

A debt collector may no use abusive or profane language in the course of communication related to the debt.

Publish a Bad Debt List

Publishing the consumer?s name or address on a "bad debt" list is prohibited.

Contact By Embarrassing Media

A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer by post card. It may not use any language or symbol, other than the debt collector?s address, on any envelope when communicating with a consumer by use of the mails or by telegram. A debt collector may use its business name if such name does not indicate it is in the debt collection business.

Contact a Consumer at Work

A collection agent may not communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.

Seek Unjustifiable Amounts

A debt collector may not demand any amounts not permitted under an applicable contract or as provided under law.

Contact a Consumer Represented by an Attorney

A collection agent may not contact a consumer after it learns the consumer is represented by a lawyer.

Communicate With a Consumer After Receiving a Validation Request

If a consumer sends a written §1692g response within 30 days, the collection agent may not communicate with the consumer until it mails the consumer the requested verification of original creditor's name and address.

Communicate With Third Parties

A debt collector may not reveal or discuss the nature of a consumer?s debts with third parties other than the consumer?s spouse or attorney. A collection agent may contact neighbors or co-workers only to obtain location information. It may contact a third party again if it has reason to believe the information the party provided previously is false.

Bills.com FDCPA FAQ

Below are questions Bills.com readers ask frequently:

Can a Collection Agent Call My Cell Phone?

Yes. However, if you tell the debt collector it may not use that number because it is a cell phone, it may not contact you again at that number.

I Keep Receiving Dozens of Calls From Collection Agents. Is That Legal?

No. Unscrupulous collection agents will use "block parties" or "office parties" where they contact a consumer, multiple neighbors, or co-workers telling them they need to reach the consumer on an urgent matter. This is not permitted under the FDCPA.

A Collector Says I Will Be Arrested if I Do Not Pay

This was a true statement before the US Civil War, but has not been true since. People may be arrested if an aggressive judge files a bench warrant for a person who does not appear at a hearing relating to a lawsuit regarding a debt. However, in that case, the offense is the failure to respond to a court order, and not the existence of the debt. As stated above, it is illegal under the FDCPA to threaten a consumer with arrest if the consumer does not pay the debt.

Yesterday, a man called because I had not returned his female associate's call to the "firm" that was filing these "charges."  I offered to meet him somewhere public to take a look at the so-called "papers" that the "firm" hired him to give me.  He said that was not how it worked; for which I informed him that the voicemail from his female associate "sacrificially" offered to have me meet her in a local "coffee shop" if needed.  LOL!!  After that, he stated that he would be informing the sheriff that I was "not being subordinate" (by the way - to the guy that called - the word for not being subordinate is insubordinate, moron).  I replied with "I'm being subordinate, I'll happily meet you anywhere you'd prefer - you name the time and place."  Long story short, he hung up on me and low and behold, I haven't received any phone calls from them today......although, from reading these blogs, I fully expect to be added back to their rotation at some point.  Do not "verify" any information at all.....even if they say things like your employers name, your address, anything - ignore those things and do not agree or disagree either way - just tell them to send it to you in writing (without verifying any addresses) or offer to meet them somewhere public so you can help the FBI in their investigation.  I'd love to see a picture of these people on a site somewhere; maybe called evilscumsuckingliars.com or something along those lines - haha.  Chin up, all, these people suck - don't let them ruffle your feathers!!!  They love to use words that are out of their league to sound professional and scary - things like "protocol," "subordinate," and "the" - hahaha.  Geesh, what a bunch of cowardly pansy-a** jerks.  OK, I'm done, now.  Stay strong!

I received another message today - this time the caller is stating that she is waiting on a call back from my company to find out the protocol for gaining entry.  I have contacted the FTC, BBB, FBI, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  I have been informed that this is a scam.  Even if it was a legitimate claim, the tactics used vilate the Fair Debt Collection Act.   If she calls back and I actually have the privilige of answering the phone, I think I'll play dumb and see if she'll meet me somewhere so I can get pictures of her and her car/license plate - or better yet, follow her and see where she goes.  Something tells me, though, that she probably won't meet me.  I do not owe anything and I'm disgusted by these scare tactics, preying on people who may have had financial trouble in the past and are fearful they "might" owe something.  Don't let them bully you - if it's legit, then deal with it in court if they pursue you legally.  I don't know how these people sleep at night - this one calls herself Karen O'Neil, but all she is is a worthless criminal!  Evil has no conscience!
