This is a real number for Wells Fargo. They knew all current transactions that only Wells Fargo could have known. I got a phone message to call about fraud prevention but only got 877-575 and thus looked up rest of number here. This is real.

I don't have a Wells Fargo card, so this call fishing for account number and transaction information of someone that doesn't own anything through Wells Fargo is certainly suspicious.  I would think that they would know who their cardmembers were!

This is a real number....our account was being compromised.  Several times the account was being hit with a "test" charge, then hit with a large transaction three different times in succession.  All were out of state attempts.  Several in California and in also in Canada.

I called the number on my card and checked my account online and saw the test charges.  THANK YOU WELLS FARGO for being so proactive.

Canceled my card immediately, new one is on the way.

So.....turns out Wells Fargo was wrong in telling me they would never use and automated call to alert me to fraud.  After my husband's card was denied at 3 different places, we realized something really was up and called Wells Fargo again.  Turns out, someone has tried to purchase gas things in the Caribbean and Washington State, neither of which we have visited.  Wells Fargo said that they do deal with fishing scams, but this one is legit.  They did a good job of flagging our account and deactivating my husband's card.  This number is legitimate.   When in doubt, just call the number on the back of your card.  They will connect you with the right people.

I just got an automated message from "Wells Fargo" saying that my debit card ending in **** might have had fraudulent activity and that I needed to call them back with the card handy.  Instead, I called the number on my WELLS FARGO debit card and they said  they will never use an automated system to call a customer when fraud is suspected.  Mystery solved....FRAUD

Prank Call
I just received a recorded message saying it was Wells Fargo Bank and my Debit card is to the limit and to contact them.  I didn't listen to the end of the message as it was somewhat alarming.  I don't even bank with Wells Fargo so you know for a fact they are fishing.

Thanks for the heads up. It sounded suspicious to me, and that is exactly as they described themselves, from Wells Fargo fraud dept. trying to contact one of our employees.

Just got off the phone with the "real" Wells Fargo. This number is fraud.Wells Fargo will never call you. It does seem real but the caller ID should tip you off that it is not a real Wells Fargo number. Do no call them back. Go into a branch or call a real Wells Fargo number that you will find in a statement.

I called Wells Fargo and they ended up cancelling my credit card. The person calling me from this  number asked me for all kinds of information. Yes, I thought it was legit at first, but then got wary and called WF direct.  WF cancelled my card and reminded me they will not call ME for account information...will only ask for account information if i call THEM.  They didn't see any fraudulent activity on my account. I have no doubt it was a scam.

This is a legit #. They are just checking on suspicious transactions from your account. I am from MN and was doing transactions in FL and they called to make sure it was me.

Event Reminder
This is NOT a fraud.  I very carefully validated the number and then returned the call.  They knew all of my transactions on my credit card and already had access to info that only Wells Fargo would know.  They had a questionable transaction that they were inquiring about, which turned out to be legit.

I wonder if the scammers are the ones that are saying that this is a fraud......just to prevent people from following up on questionable transactions, which helps these scammers cover up their crimes.  Just a thought.

BTW.....I flagged this call as "Event Reminder" because there was no box for Legitimate Call or Bank.

What basis do you have for calling this a fake? It is a valid Wells Fargo number. They left a message that I had a flag on my account, and I called the number on the back of my Wells Fargo card to verify that there was a security concern that needed to be cleared.

FRAUD!  I got the same message ... I wish Wells Fargo would find out the phone carrier and have this unplugged.

This number is another Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention fake. They even copied the Wells Fargo "on hold" music! I called Wells Fargo after I called these crack heads back and was told that the number was NOT legitimate. It asked for a 16-digit card number; I didn't stay on the line long enough to find out if they're asking for a SS#, too.
