Caller claimed to be with AT&T and said I had overages.  They wanted me to agree to a non contractual agreement for additional charges of $41.95 for long distance coverage.  I hardly ever make long distance calls from my business.  When I asked questions about my account she got quiet and then changed the subject back to this.  When I pointed out that it would be absurd for me to pay almost another $50 for something I hardly use they hung up on me.

I get calls from them regularly.  Either telling me it's past due (it's on auto draw so first BIG clue they're a scam) or telling me I'm going over my minutes by some bogus amount (which I NEVER even come close to doing), then when I say they are NOT from AT&T they say "why else would I be calling?" Yeah, right.  I feel bad for anyone than falls for their scam - BE VERY AWARE OF WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO AND HOW THEY ANNOUNCE THEMSELVES.  When I said I knew I was not over my minutes, they tried to then explain it away by saying it was for time I had not received the actual bill for yet...

Also, AT&T requires codes (like PIN number) to make any changes to your account - Also you can ask for a supervisor.  If they were legit you should be able to reach them using the contact numbers listed on your ACTUAL AT&T bill - not this bogus 877 number who no one ever answers - goes straight to voicemail.

Who can we complain to to get them to stop calling? Sometimes I'll get several in one week.

I don't know how the people working for them sleep at night knowing they are lying so blatantly.

It was AT&T.  They left a message that made it sound like there were unauthorized or fraudelent charges on my account and they needed to clear it up before it billed out.

They wanted me to buy a long distance package.  When I told them that my business uses less than 10 minutes a month on long distance, she told me "You'll still benefit, because you'll know exactly what your long distance bill will be every month."  Huh?  I'm going to pay over 40 bucks instead of the 5 that I currently pay just so that I will know how much my bill will be?

How did she say that with a straight face....really?
