877 is not an area code it is a toll free number prefix

Watch out! They called about a debt that I had forgotten all about, when I had looked it up it was for something that had happened almost a decade ago, and had been since removed from my credit. I had taken my married name and changed my phone number many times since then, so I smell a major scam. I called back to change my address and I kept calling but each time I talked to a person, it was the same one. I called to complain about the person who first called me, and of course no call back.

This number is "General Credit Services" located in Vancouver and possibly other places. They use the number 1-877-588-4274 and ALSO use the number 604-688-6097.  See my comments on this website under the 604 number.  They are listed as a bill collector, but this could be spam also. Comments above on this page in 2010 had this number for General Billing Solutions. Perhaps the one company got booted out but started up again under the new name of General Credit Services?

Receive calls from this number numerous times ALMOST EVERY day and it has been going on for months and months.  Today the calls were at 2:36PM and 4:20PM - so far!

Got a call from this number today - they left an automated message as described in the other posts.  They're asking for someone we don't know.  Judging by the other comments, it looks like this could become a problem.

They called me and when i told them they had the wrong number they tried to threaten me as i was hanging up. Never heard the full threat because i hung up.

Received a call from this number today. They are looking for someone whom I don't know.

These people do not respond to anything other then legal notice to attend a court hearing for harassment!

I never heard of them before, just got a new cell phone and number, and calls keep coming 2-3x a day!

Received a call for a person who is no longer registered at this phone number insisting that that person should call back immediately as there was an important business message waiting. This was followed by a claim that this was not a telemarketing call.

Member called looking for a friend I havn't seen in years saying it was urgent.

Received an automated call from these people.  Checked the website for General Credit Services, they do not have an office in the city in which I live in.

I received an automated message from them.  Has anyone tried to call back to see what they want, if they are selling or collecting?  I think it's a collection agency.

Ill start this off by saying im only 15, and they called my cell phone. They left a message for "Mike Lang" . I have no idea who that is.

got a call from evan i had an account in collections he was actaully willing to wrk with me and helped me claer up my problems...deal with it and they will work with you

the pricks left a message on my sisters phone<I dont even know how they linked us together sins shes married with a different last name< looking for me saying i used her as a credit reference.when i did not.lying phucks.they are sneeky.

You probably did leave her as a reference at some point.  Why not just respond to the call, and resolve the issue?

Having been getting calls daily from this number but cannot connect with anyone to get them to stop.

It's a debt collector. They just call me three times in a row with a automated message.

This number calls me basically every day with an automated message for a person that is not here, and when I call it back to tell them to stop, I cannot get an actual person.

They are bill collectors...usually looking for someone who used your name as a reference for a loan, etc, or you if you have any overdue accounts.

Just got a phonecall from this number, but don't know what it is, there was no message. Sick and tired of calls like this!

A Lady by the name of Ms Barr keeps calling and harrassing for information of a "previous employee" she says that used to work here. She's very rude & my supervisor will not take calls in this regard. Policy states we are not give out information with out consent and blah blah blah but I'd like for her to quit calling our business.
No means no.

They're still calling, even on Saturday.

We keep receiving calls from this number. It might be a collection agency, but we don't know for sure because it's an automated call; we don't accept automated calls, ever.

Got an automated voice leaving a toll free number with an extension.  I don't live in the city from which this call originated.  If it's a real business call, why is it automated and why did they not leave a person's name or the name of the company?

Same thing happened to me... automated female voice asking for "Jackson James"... (not this number).... tells to call back or press 9.

contact the fcc and file a compliant. very easy to do!
