This is the message I received when I got home from work (after 6:30pm PST)...

11/17/2010 877-591-7732 11:16 AM PST

A file of yours was transferred to my office prior to today’s date that you are plausibly unaware of.  I have appointed one of intermediaries to contact you in reference to this matter, but have been informed that they have left numerous messages on this exactly recorder; and you have continued to file negligence to correspond.  Due to the unsuccessful attempts I will have to advance forward with the assessment process if you fail to contact me today the seventeen day of November 2010 by 6pm central standard time at the phone number of 877-591-7732. Again your input and participation is essential but I will move forward without it. When you contact my office please ask to speak to Mr. Freeman or my administrative assistant. Thank you for your time in advance and I look forward to getting a call from you no later than 6pm today.

- Does not state the name of the intended recipient.
- Called during the weekday, asking for a return call before 6pm CST the same day (which my time is 4pm PST - still at work till 6:30/7pm!?!)
- I called back anyways (after hours) to get a company name and/or to leave a voicemail, get an automated system asking to wait to be connected, then get a message stating the intended mailbox is full.

Ditto-  Just got a threatening phone call from Mr. Freeman stating if I did not call back by 6pm they would proceed against me.  He never mentioned my name or who it was he was calling about.  No one in this household has ever had a credit problem.  Can this be reported to the police?

They bought old debt which has already been paid, but regardless they are trying to turn it into new debt and are trying to collect on it.  This is a scam, harassment, invasion of privacy, and more lawsuits should be filed against them. How they obtained Jessica's phone number seems fishy.  If they hacked into any systems they were not suppose to and used the information in an improper way...sounds like they have violated some serious state and federal laws. I would suggest not calling them back, saving their messages and seeking an attorney and sue the pants off of them!   Perhaps calling the attorney general to do an investigation on how this "collection agency" obtained your phone numbers in the first place is another avenue.  If they obtained your number by hacking or any other means deemed illegal...they should be held accountable.  Has anyone tried to sue these people yet?

I agree Jessica...these rude people may be phishing for the phone numbers and either illegally obtaining them from the prepaid cell phone company or from someone who is hacking into "phone company switching carriers computers".  "Phone company switching carriers" are used when your phone company switches the call in route using a different carrier.  This other carrier gets to see your phone number.  Some of these smaller carriers seem a bit shady as they gain their profits from scamming the bigger carriers through loopholes in the law.  There may be hackers who work for and/or have access to these so called "phone company switching carriers" and gets your number and then farms them out to this so called "collection agency" phishing for your info.  This is definitely illegal! You can sue them! There maybe a link you all have in common.  Has anyone called a number and their phone company used a "switching carrier"?
Here is a small list of these so called "switching carriers".

** futurephone.com - Site "labeled" as offline; actual number 712-945-1xxx, VENTURE COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY L.L.C, switched out
of Salix, Iowa, population 389.
** fonpods.com - Site offline (just noticed); actual number 712-432-3xxx, GREAT LAKES COMMUNICATION CORP., switched out of Lake Park, Iowa, population 993.

** allfreecalls.net - "service offline"; actual number of 712-858-8xxx, SUPERIOR TELEPHONE COOPERATIVE, switched out of Superior, Iowa, population 129.
** radiohandi.com - Service active; actual number 712-432-7xxx, GREAT LAKES COMMUNICATION CORP., switched out of Lake Park, Iowa, population 993.

** gizmoproject.com - Service active; using area code 775 numbers
** ipkall.com - Service active; switches out of Washington state via INTERNATIONAL TELCOM, LTD.
** ophone.net - Service active

I had bought a new prepaid trakfone with an unlisted number a few months ago.   No one had my phone number except my sister. A week after I bought the cell phone these same people started to leave messages on my phone.  I thought it was unusual not only because I owe nothing to nobody but wondered how in the world did they got my unlisted number in the first place??? They did not mention me by name in the message they left which is also quite strange.  The only thing I could think of was maybe they were trying to contact the person who previously owned the phone number before me...so I called my cell phone company and had my number changed.  A week after I changed the number to another unlisted number to my surprise these same people tried to contact me again on the new phone number!!!  I have no idea how they could have gotten my new unlisted phone number a second time! Again, no one outside my family has my number. The only thing I can think of is that they had somehow gained access to the cell phone company's records and are spamming everyone who buys new trakfones.  With a trakfone they do not do any credit checks, so a lot of people with bad credit get trakfones.  However, I have great credit, owe nothing to nobody and the only reason I got the trakfone was because there is no contract involved.  So, I wonder how many of you may have bought a cell phone...especially a prepaid phone?  I also wonder if it is legal for the cell phone company to give out their new customer's unlisted phone numbers to a third party?  I wonder if it is legal for collection agencies to spam everyone just because they bought prepaid phones?  Prejudice and harassment seems to be involved here.  Is it legal for them to be phishing for information? Is it legal for them to wasted minutes on my cell phone?  It there aren't any laws protecting us from creeps like them...there should be!

Yes I just got the same call with the same identical message. I received it yesterday Sunday November the 7 at 12:05 PM EST. I have called back twice and was very upset and was going to tell them off for calling me on a sunday and leaving me that kind of message for no reason. But they say that no one is there, to please leave a message then it tells you that the mesages are full and can not take any more. Well me for one can not wait to get ahold of someone. I know that my number will show up but it is going to be worth it. Especially for some reason I looked it up like everyone else has and find out it is such a scam. I did go and get me a big can air horn and guess what she is going to hear... Threaten me shame on you..

Same call as many others...This is Mr. Stanlow, my office is closed at the moment, call back at 877-591-7732 M-F 8-5 CST.  Your file has been forwarded to me....My intermediaries tell me they have tried to reach you at this number and your refuse to respond...If you continue to fail and neglect to respond I will move forward with the assessment with or without your input.  All this was in a very threatening tone.  I called back.  He said, "Law Offices of Jerry Bolin"....(could not make out the last name...maybe Bolin.  So I said, "Would that be Bolin, B-o-l-i-n?" he replied, "What can I do for you?"  I said, "You can spell the name of your law office clearly for me."  He said, "You can get off my (I believe he said "f" phone) phone.  He hung up.  I called back.  I said, "Did you just tell me to get off of your phone?"  He said, "Yeah, get off my phone and hung up."  So then I found that others of you are gettting this too.  Very strange.  I have no debt or legal problems so what a bunch of mess this is!
I will follow up the way that Cliff from 30 Oct. suggested.  I have kept the recording.

I too have been getting calls for the last few weeks, but from a Private Caller.  I do not answer calls that are from Private Caller, that's what the voice mail is for.

This weekend, I received a Private Caller call.  Stan Low(e?) left a message identical to the message that everyone else is getting.  I assumed this was a scam, but I was curious as to how it works.  I couldn't quite figure out how the payoff worked in relation to the message left.

This morning I decided to call back and figure out how it works.  I had to call 3 times to get through, but when I did, I immediately recognized that it was a fear scam.  The "sympathy" of the agent is welcome when compared to the aggression of the voicemail.  That's the scam, the agent is a good cop and will allow you to "ease the pain" by paying off "debts" that might or might not exist.

The agent stumbled when I called.  I confused them by calling from my cell phone.  When I called, the agent answered but was busy searching for my phone number in their database.  Finally, the agent asked what number I was calling about.  Instead of answering, I asked who the company was.  The agent replied Regent Asset Management Solutions.  I asked if they are a collections agency.  The agent ignored the question and asked again for the number I was calling about.  In order to move to my goal, I stated the number they had called and said they have a wrong number, and asked to have the number removed from their call list.  The agent asked me if I was someone named Charles XXXXX.  I'm not that person and don't know that person. He confirmed he had a wrong number.  The agent then stated he "removed" my number from the file.

My suggestion is to call back.  Do not answer any questions but the phone number you're calling about.  Immediately ask for the number to be removed from the database.  State that they have the wrong number.  Do not answer any other questions.  Record the call if possible.

Good Luck!

I got the same message as MC did on Oct 19. Mine was on Nov 7 and told me to call from the 8th to the 12th. The name of the man was Stan Lowe. I called twice and both times it said to please wait while I was transfered then it hung up on me. Thing is...I am currently a student and I have a student loan but that is it..I have NO debt so this is either a scam or they are looking for someone else. I am unable to get thru though.

I finally got through to them and I guess using their caller ID knew who the phone number was registered to. My Wife and I have different last names for professional reasons. After the ruse this idiot tried to use, refering to me as Mr. (using my wife's last name) that I could settle the account by paying the debt over the phone with a credit card. (We have no debt). I asked him ifhe had a mirror handy and told him to look in it to see if he was a stupid looking as he sounded. I then hung up.

Mr Stanley was on an automated vm and sd it is very impairative I contact his office, when I called this morning, mail who answered sd they are with an attorney office out of KS and they are calling on an old Bank Of America account I had back in 06. they are going to have a constable come out and serve me, he verified an old address from 06. advised him I have a letter from a collection agency showing a "0" balance and he sd that is impossible, when I told him an attorney office would not be calling from 877 # and leaving messages on a vm he got Irrate and sd this is a legal matter. I advised him if the bank was going to sue me, this would of been done in 06-07. Advised him I am not dumb, since I do know alot more about what he is trying to do then he thinks. I'm in Texas, if the bank was going to sue me, they would use a Texas attorney, not some out of state company stating they work for an attorney. he got mad an hung up on me. called back, male who answered asked for my # i got the message on, he hung up after I gave him the #. I am going to file a complaint with the Federal trade comission and also for this information to the better business burau, they are addressing them selves as attorney's and this is against the FDCPA Laws.

Update: I previously mentioned that they called my home phone. Actually it was a different company. I called that other company back with the reference number they gave and it turned out they were looking for someone else and promised to remove me from there list.

As for the message I got on my cell phone today, it stated that it was a "Mr. Stanley". Some seem to think this company is in Nevada, calling from Las Vegas. Where ever they are calling from; it needs to be stopped!

I have been repeatedly called by the same number from a "Mr. Stanley" threatening to move ahead with the "assessment process" if I do not provide input. However, my name is never used. I have no unresolved debts though people who lived here before me over 3 years ago have. Their website - ramsna.com - refers to various robo-calling techniques that they use including one called "predictive calling" which kind of sounds like guessing that they might hit on something rather than having definite information giving them a reason to call your number. Perhaps not only the attorney general in the state you are in should be called, but the attorney general in Colorado where they are headquartered as well or in Arizona where they have their "call center".

Voice recording (ILLEGAL IIRC) telling me to call a "Mr Freeman" before 6pm or some type of legal "action" will be taken against me.

Came from REGENCY ASSET MANAGEMENT at 1-877 591 7732.

Called back after having the phone put down on me repeatedly, I got some women asking for Jeanette (???) told her i was there was no one her of that name, nor any woman of any name as i was gay! She couldn't handle the rejection and hung up.

Oh and if you *67 your number they can still tell what number you are calling from.
