The company that calls from this number is called Preferred Platinum Plan.  They are extortionists.  If you have been harassed by this company contact the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General in your state.  Tell them everything that they did to you.  Tell them how this company called several times a day in defiance of Federal laws regulating collection calls.  Tell them how they demanded payment for a debt that you did not owe.  The Attorney General in your state will contact the FBI and they will arrest the owners of Preferred Platinum Plan.

Sounds like you're a good employee of Preferred Platinum!
John, do your job.
Make sure you have all the required documentation and follow customer service protocol.
Then, make sure you're courteous to your clients.

There is nothing wrong with phone sex - there never was.  It's very safe and doesn't give you STDs.
After all, you work in it customer service/collection area, so you're not ashamed......are you?

It's OK, John - just follow the law.  Be a good boy.

The litany for today is one that everyone who gripes to 800notes should recite:

Your best defense is Caller ID. If you see a name or number you don't recognize, don't answer the call. Simple.

800Notes is not a clearinghouse to stop unwanted calls. You are going to have to do that. Send them a cease communication letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested demanding they stop calling you and your family members. This is your right under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If they contine calling, you can sue them for harassment.

wait until he can take you to court. In the meantime, get all the evidence you can to support your case, such as phone bills, phone histories, and bank statements to get him off your case.

Take us all to court. Obviously you don't realize we all have recorded phone histories, and mine does not state that I had made any calls in the entire month of July, when you said I had. That's all the proof I need to put you behind bars. Stop scamming and get a real job.

This number called me today left a message to have my 16 year call them back. I called the number and asked what it was about and got a very very abusive man on the phone saying that I have such a good boy and he'd never do anything wrong. This started to creep me out and then asked for a supervisor. He stated that he was the supervisor. I then hung up.
We knew they were going to call. This is from a talk line where you chat with others OVER the age of 18. My son gave them his debit card number and tried to charge him $600 for 12 mins that he was actually on the phone. I looked up the call log on my bill to verify that.
They are scamming him and anyone who calls this number. The chat line number is 218-339-3700

a man from India called me and told me he was john rico. I owed him money on a credit card payment-$199.00 for sex chat
calls. After useless time  talking i told him i'd call him right back. he
gave me this 877 #
to return his call
which was not the
number he was
calling from, not
in India!I had no intention of calling him back, but the next day a rough sounding New York-mafia-voiced John Rico  called.
Obviously not the
same guy. "Are you
john rico?" I asked.
He said he was but
i called him a liar!
Asked me if I was ready to give my credit card # and get rid of this debt I owed to a sex chat line. Now
I DON'T EVEN HAVE A CREDIT CARD!!!  my wife and i cut
them up years ago. .Hethreatened me, called me a liar said the calls came from my phone. "Send me a bill. I don't give out my credit card number over the phone." He told me only a credit card could be used and payment must be immediate or legal action would be taken against me. "SEND ME A BILL!" i told him and hung up. I began to record subsequent phone calls from him. did't tell him, and legally it is not required to tell him. from early October 2010 to today Nov. 1, 2010 he has called about 7 times. i just let him talk and don't tell him i'm recording him. I spoke with an Investigator with the Lamar Co. MS Sheriff's Office.
they googled his number and assured me it was a scam but to keep them informed, that they'd be glad to open a case against him/them if i requested. their number is601-794-1005. they cautioned me not to even take seriously any billing i might receive from him. they helped me get to the Sate of MS's Attorney General's office since they are the only legal
source which has
juristiction to work across state lines. their number is 1-800-281-4418. when i talked with the Attorney General's Office they also assured me that it was a scam. i could hang up on him; change my phone number; or file a claim against him. they are perfectly willing to initiate this claim if i ask them to. I'm going to let john rico continue to dig a deeper hole for himself at least for a while. why should i "pay" to have my number changed? i did nothing wrong. Any way i am relieved by the assurances and confidence gained by talking to law enforcement at such a high level. At some point, though, i'm going to say to john rico "Mr. Rico, you better give your heart to God, cause your a** is mine!" I'll tell him what I have been doing, documenting,
recording, internet searching, and bringing in law enforcement who are prepared to move when i give them the signal, and taping his calls. He'll s***in his pants. by the way, Sheriff's Office said tape recording this man under this circumstance is perfectly legal. I do not have to tell him i am recording him.

I called these people out and "Mr. Rico" put his tail between his legs and ran off.  They picked the wrong company/person to call considering he called a law firm.  I got a voice mail from John Rico and it stank heavily of a scam so I checked this site before I returned his call.  Armed with this info, he started out telling me that there was a problem with activity going out through our business phone.  He asked me what account number he left and after I read it back to him he started going into his routine and I stopped him and asked what the account number referred to and what company he worked for.  He said it was the case file and he worked for Preferred Platinum, an adult phone chat company.  They use that name because it sounds like a credit card company and I'm sure they would like you to think that's what it is so you're a little more nervous about the call.  He claimed someone from our office, perhaps a night crew or housekeeping was calling their service.  I informed him he was calling a law firm and that I was recording his call.  I asked for the dates and times of the calls which he gave me and I told him to wait while I ran a report of the number he claimed was calling.  He immediately began to back-pedal and said that it might not show if we have a "universal line or something."  I told him we don't and asked that he continue to wait while I ran a report for that time frame of all calls made from our offices.  As expected, there were no outgoing calls from any extension at anytime because we're closed.  I asked him why he cares what our employees do anyway and he was fumbling for words and I kept asking until we got to the root, which was that they may be getting ripped off and I told him it's not our problem then anyway and asked that he not call this number any further to which he simply replied, ok.

From the other posters here, I can only gather that all they do is call numbers randomly and they're bound to hit someone that has called some sex line at some point and they guilt these people into paying them something to make them go away.  Stand up to them.  They can't do anything to you.  They're preying on people and it's not right.  Call them and tell them that you're recording the call, even if you can't, and tell them it's a cell phone they're calling and you don't see the number on your bill.  Maybe even tell them you're going to call the police because you know they're a fraud.  Don't pay them a dime.

By the way people research your rights. You cannot be arrested for a debt in the U.S.A., only if the debt collection agency takes you to court and you do not show up, then you would be arrested for failure to appear or contempt of court.  A debt is a civil matter and usually unless your debt is really worth it the collection agency will not file a law suit it will cost them too much on legal fees. In the case with this preferred platinum scam, im pretty sure that they are in the idenity theft business, and not collections.
