Our home is owned by us free and clear. Took us a few decades to pay it off. So not sure why I would get a POSTCARD saying to call this number to receive 2 round-trip airline tickets plus a 3 day/2 night weekend getaway -- and to call within 48 hours! What a croc. Sounded like a scam to me, so I researched the number. Whatever it is, it isn't what it "appears to be" at first glance. By the way, as far as I know, we are not late on any payments nor owe anyone anything.

Step One: Fire the debt collector: You have the right under federal law (the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) to terminate your relationship with any third-party debt collector by properly notifying them. Go to www.bendover.com/adiosbottomfeeder.asp for a free sample of my battle-tested letter that will help you fire these clowns immediately. Step Two: Send a demand letter to your bank for a full refund of all monies wrongfully debited from your account. A great letter format for you to use is available on-line in my Six Steps To Successful Complaining section: www.bendover.com/complain.asp. Step Three: Close your checking account immediately. Those bottom-feeding debt collectors won't be able to debit your account if it's closed! Especially since your bank is apparently happy to blindly hand over cash to whomever presents them with a draft [debit instrument]; the only sure-fire way to cut these clowns off at the knees is by closing the account at once.
Dose of Dover For The Week: I've seen a huge spike in the number of debt collector-related letters and e-mails over the last several months, a clear indicator to me that more of you facing some serious financial challenges than ever before. Remember: Just because you're going through some tough times doesn't mean your creditors (or their third-party thugs) have the right to harass you...because they don't. It's against the law. "S.T." needs to seek counsel and consider filing suit against the debt collection agency (and the original creditor) for their inappropriate actions. (They'll probably pay her to go away when the strength of her case is established.) Error number one: You made a deal with a third-party debt collector. They're "hired guns" that collect past due accounts, normally 90 days (or longer) late. Since many debt collectors receive commissions on what they collect, there's an incentive to do whatever's necessary to "motivate" financially-stressed consumers into sending them money. There's also been a documented pattern of deceit and deception used by third-party collection agencies; your situation sounds like just one more example of the abusive techniques inflicted on under-informed consumers by this industry.
Error number two? You stated that: "Unbeknownst to me, they continued to draft my checking account monthly, and as a result, I incurred hundreds of dollars in overdraft charges." Why weren't you reconciling your checking accounts/bank statements on a regular basis? If your budget is as tight as it sounds, I can guaran-damn-tee you that I'd know it if someone debited my bank account without my consent. If you don't catch bank errors within 60 days of the date of the monthly bank statement creation date (in most cases) you forfeit your right to hold the bank responsible for these unauthorized debits. In all probability, your bank will get off without having to cover this mess. You snooze...you lose.
Error number three? You gave a perfect stranger the key to your cash! You told them to debit your checking account "for that first payment only" but what did they do to you? One more time: Never give anyone your bank account numbers and "routing" information-no matter what they say-don't do it. Now what do you do? Step One: Fire the debt collector: You have the right under federal law (the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) to terminate your relationship with any third-party debt collector by properly notifying them. Go to www.bendover.com/adiosbottomfeeder.asp for a free sample of my battle-tested letter that will help you fire these clowns immediately. I've received calls from this number for the past couple of months, up to 4 times per day, from 8:00am - 9:00pm, (outside of the legal calling hours in the state of California, which are 9:00am - 9:00pm). They do conceal their phone number on my Caller ID, as UNAVAILABLE. So I have entered their number as a "Blocked Caller", which gives them a busy signal, then a disconnect every time they now call!!! In spite of this, they continue to call!!!. Extremely annoying!!! And after reading these comments, I'm doubly irritated as a single senior citizen; I don't have any debts owing and my home phone number is UNLISTED and I have a very unusual name!!! I only give out my home phone number to family, friends and businesses that I want to call me. Fortunately I have Caller ID in order to prevent interlopers from calling me. The fact that these people are invaiding my personal home privacy is absolutely unconscionable!!! Please continue to do whatever is necessary to shut them down from calling private families with no affiliation to them. Thank you.

I continue to get calls on my cell phone ffrom women and men for a person who has my same last name but i do not know such a person nor do i have a relative with this name. I told them last time that if i received any more calls i would report them to the authorities. The last guys was anything but nice and kept saying that the person they are calling for was my ex-husband and that I knew this person. Not!
Bye, Bye, Real Time! 2011-11-17 15:37:48 Unknown
This bottom feeder is sneaky.
After we received a letter demanding money on a debt in which the statute of limitations had expired,
we sent them a letter informing them of this and would see them in court if their collection attempts continued. Several weeks later, we received a rather innocent-looking form letter from them asking us
to "Update our account information and sign on the line below". This was no more than a sleazy and backhanded attempt on their part, to get us to "admit" we owed the debt and "restart the clock".
Needless to say, the letter was shredded. That was years ago. Not a peep from them since...

I am glad to have this info. They use another number if anyone is interested. It is 877-599-9198. This Real Time Company is a joke. I hope they get foreclosed on.

I'm surprised they check anything. They call several times a day asking for someone I've never heard of. If I don't answer, they leave a message saying that "only [the person I don't know] can listen to the rest of the message and anyone else must hang up now" then spout off private info about the company, person, and debts.
s stuart 2011-08-18 18:11:48 Debt Collector
What are they all called Ann or Mike???? They call me then ask for my ssn to verify who I am! They refuse to say what debt they are collecting for. They call on my cell & I tell them not to & they do anyways. They NEVER leave a message. I thought (think) it's a fishing scam to steel my identity!
wes 2011-08-18 14:07:27 Unknown

Company name is Real Time Solutions. Apparently they purchase debt from companies and then try to collect. My debt was transferred to them from Litton Loans, my 2nd mortgage company. Not sure if you knew, but 2nd Mortgage companies are $hi% out of luck trying to collect if there's a 1st mortgage on your home. The 1st mortgage must be satisfied (Paid in Full) in order for them to collect on the lien. Unless they are willing to pay it off, they have nothing to collect on. The only stipulation to this is if you have substantial equity in your home. They could choose to pay off the 1st, sell the hoe and get their money. Mosy American's do NOT have enough equity in their home for this to occur.
