I fell for this scam awhile back, now they are calling again. I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision. G. Williams is the an who calls. Any information you get turn into the FTC. I have been told that the FBI is also looking at this. Don't fall for it! Hang up. Caller ID says 877-614-7549.

This call was received at my parents home stating there was a civil suit filed against me and there was a restraining order. I called them back and a lady put me on hold to "find my file". When she got back she said that I owed money to paydayloans.com for a loan for $500 that I took out with them (never happened). I told her that there was never such loan and she said she has a contract that verifies it and she would take $250 to clear it up. I told her there is no such think and not to call me anymore or take me to court and hung up. They again called my phone again today and left the same message. Guess they don' t know the meaning of restrainig order. Complete scam, don't fall for it.

Got a call, and called back the 855-515-7064 number that they left. It sounded pretty legit for who she was asking for. Then she said that my husband cosigned or was used as a reference, and may be summoned to court in California. I know that he did not co-sign on anything for this person they are asking for. I decided to look the numbers up and found out that it seems to be a scam. I called back, and got a Mr. Williams on the line. When I asked him for his first name he got upset, and said "Do people call you and ask for your first name?" I said "Well usually they know who they are calling, so don't be a smart@$$ with me." I then tell him what is going on, and to make sure my husband is NOT involved with this. AND IF it is a scam that I would be contacting my attorney, and law enforcement. He reassured me (of course) that it was not a scam, but I think it is. And just so everyone knows it is not Luchay & Associates...they are legit. It is Luchey & Associates. Who are NOT listed anywhere that I could find as a legitimate company. So just beware. Don't let them intimidate you, or make you worry.

If you have ever conducted business online, your information is out there for hackers to harvest and sell on the internet black market:
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Seems this is crap. I called back, some young guy answered. Seems like a total scam.. said he went to find my file. Kept me on hold 5 minutes and I hung up. Tried calling back and now it just rolls to a voice mail. Seems they are making the rounds today! I thought there was a law against this nonsense?
