ok "actually knows what you're talking about" I have to respond to your post because it is so beyond freaking creepy that you would take the time to be such a negative/mean spirited person on here to someone you don't know. Hey how about saying something like this...."Wendy I'm pretty sure this is a legit collection agency and if you have any plans of buying a house in the near future you may want to call them and see what this is all about because it could affect you in a negative way during that process."....... Think about it "actually knows what you're talking about"  Now you've actually done something positive for someone. You should try it sometime.

I had a message left on my voicemail saying they were a debt collector and to call it back immediately 'or action will be taken'.  Funny thing is, I owe no one anything! It's a scam to try to scare people into sending them money. Unfortunately, it works enough to keep them from getting real jobs.

Looks like if you name is similar to who they are collecting from they just try to collect from you.

Would advise that if you receive one of these that you go to website and see what it is and if its wrong:
1. Call them to and explain that it's an error
2. Run credit check to make sure it was not reported in error on your credit reports

If so contact a Lawyer and you can collect damages from these folks for their shoddy work.

they leave a message to call  the number back and refer to a file number or go to www.warningnotice.com. You can decline entering your email address, then proceed to enter your file number.  For me it was a legit medical bill for blood work that I have not paid for $357 and they are collecting on.  I just don't have the money so I did not follow up.  I doubt if its a scam.  They may just be medical collections only so if you've flaked on a bill, then they are trying to collect for it.  If you enter the file number and it's not your name that pops up, then they just have the wrong number - not a scam.  I'm guessing if you let them know and they verify you are not the true "owner" of the bill, they'll note it and you'll be rid of the calls.

It's a real bill collection agency and if you ignore it, it will hurt your credit score. if you're still skeptical i suggest calling the actually company they say you owe and paying them directly.

They are calling me about a bill from Quest Diagnostics too (that dates back to May of 2009).  It was for my annual visit to my gynecologist.  Way back when this first happened, I had called Quest Diagnostics and told them to resubmit the bill to my health insurance provider and it was paid.

I've told these scumbags at CCS that,  They told me I needed to provide them with proof of payment.  I told them I don't have time for that.  They told me they would hit my credit report.  I told them to go right ahead.

my stepdaughter and her boyfriend must have incurred some debts and gave my phone number (she lives in Massachusettes and I live in North Carolina). I have been getting phone calls from CCS (to whom this number is listed)since her father, my husband, died in May 2002, on the average of 7-8 times a week. Not only did I have to work through my husband dying, I have to deal with this collection agency. It is now the middle of October 2010 and am now getting collection calls for my step-daughter's boyfriend. I have called CCS repeatedly to end this harassment to no avail. The horrendous issue is, it is not me that owes any money to anyone but my step-daughter and her boyfriend.

Received a call from Credit Collection Services at home, and they got my name correct.  Was concerned it was a scam, did some research.  According to this site and others, it seemed fairly legit.  Went to the warningnotice.com website.  Entered my phone number (which they already called me at), and the file number indicated in their message.  It did show a small balance $25 and the date of the bill (Feb 2010).  I never received the bill.  Actually called them to get more info.  They were polite, helpful, and understanding.  Explained that it was a medical bill (Quest Diagnostics), and according to their records, the original bill was mailed to the wrong street name.  Since Quest didn't know my address, they passed it to CCS.  Used their website to pay the bill online, no extra service fees or anything, just the amount owed.  Payment status is currently being processed, printed the temp receipt, but can log in again in a week or so to print a paid-in-full receipt.

This is a debt collection agency. They called me regarding a medical bill from Quest Diagnostics. The services were provided in September 2009. It is now April 2010. It was only $50 and I paid it off immediately. My only problem is I NEVER RECEIVED A BILL FROM QUEST DIAGNOSTICS. I check my mail weekly. I pay ALL my bills on time. I have never received any bill from Quest Diagnostics and they had the nerve to take me to collections. Surely this is unacceptable.

NO it's not.. CCS is located near River Road in Andover, it's a call center that does bill collections, it's not a scam... they just want you to pay a bill. The first call is a recording, then the live reps start calling you if they can't reach you by automated line.  There just a bill collector.

Folks, All credit collection companies are skummmmm. Just read Dave Ramsey's book or tune him in on the radio.  They break federal law every day. You do not have to put up with this abuse.  In stead of paying these skumbags take a Ramseys course at your local chuch and you will learn how to deal with them.  NEVER give any of them acess to your accounts!  If you do pay them send a money order ONLY and send it certified mail.  NEVER TRUST THEM, THEY LIE!  BY FEDERAL LAW YOU ONLY HAVE TO TALK TO THEM TWICE A MONTH!!!  IF YOU TELL THEM NOT TO CALL AT WORK< THEY HAVE TO STOP.  If they threaten to take you to court. Tell them go ahaead, at least you will get to talk to someone who is willing to help and will treat you with respect because they have to look you in the eye.  You can push there buttons as well if you can get there address.  Its simple, send them more mail than they send you and send it registered or cirtified mail as proof they got it. Did I mention they LIE!  Put together a Slow-pay budget of all your bills and what you can pay. They have to accept it!  Its the LAW.

This is a legit bill collector. I logged on and saw the debtor information and I do owe them money. I paid a previous medical bill with them. I paid with a check online and I didn't have any problems. They are actually very nice. I would go online rather than calling them back though, you can pay online and they even break it into monthly payments for you.

Hope this helps!

I thought this was weird, too, especially because they seemed vague about it and beacause the caller ID showed Unavailable**Unknown Number. But, after I read some of the comments on this page near the bottom, I decided
to check it out.  All I put in was my phone number (the one they left a message at) and the file number they had.  It took me to a page that asked if I wanted future correspondence to be by email and to enter my email address.  I wasn't interested so I declined.  It then took me to the page with my info..  It was from a medical bill (Labcorp) from two years ago that I thought the ins. paid.  Warning: It gave me options to pay, but it listed a "convenience fee" of $9.95. I will find another way to pay this without that stupid fee.

I'm glad I looked in to this so it can get taken care of immed. and I won't get more annoying calls.  I do think it's strange for this company to be so vague.  It does make people think it's a scam. If you get this call, I don't think it would hurt to check it out.  For me, it was legit.  Good luck!

More dishonest and illegal attempts to collect debts that don't really exist. Payback time. Go to a place where they have many pay phones like an airport or train station. Call 1-877-620-6000 from one phone, leave it off the hook, dial from the next phone, do same...repeat till all phones used. Hang up and repeat until they get the hint. Calling a house foe a non-existent bill is a pain, they need to feel that pain
