Dec. 20, 11:53 am

http://msg4u.us/ppsd :
On May 16, 2013, U.S. Cellular® sold certain assets to Sprint, including some customer accounts. Your account was included in the sale.

Your U.S. Cellular account will shut down on 1/31/2014. If you have a device that operates on the U.S. Cellular network, this means:

? Your U.S. Cellular device(s) will not be able to make calls, including 9-1-1 calls
? You will lose your existing phone number(s) if you take no action before 1/31/2014. As a result, you will not be able to transfer your current phone number(s) to a Sprint device(s) or a device(s) with an alternative wireless carrier
? You may lose contacts, pictures or other data stored on your device(s)

Event Reminder
877-624-0262 just called my US Cellular phone that is still active, but that has been replaced with a Radio Shack/Cricket cell phone.

As a (former) northern Illinois/midwest US Cellular customer, I *did* receive a cell phone call from "Sprint" that our US Cellular *accounts* were not "bought", so our *accounts* WOULD BE TERMINATED BY 12/31/2013.

I lost my US Cellular cell phone for 24 hours and was told I COULD NOT EVEN GET MY OLD ONE REACTIVATED, because Sprint DID NOT OWN THE ACCOUNT.

So, any of you with soon-to-be dead US Cellular phone numbers/*PHONES*, I suspect this is the purpose of the phone calls.

Regardless of the phone calls, YOU MAY BE ABOUT TO HAVE YOUR CELL PHONE SERVICE ***TERMINATED*** IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS.

Ok. I read almost all of these and from my point of view...It's SPRINT...3rd party.

Sprint bought out US Cellular and now is contacting customer to make the switch.
I havent made the switch yet (going down with the Captain and his ship) to them and
not sure if I will. They are all the same (expensive) contract or pay-as-you-go,

This site is great...let's keep up the good work.

This number has called left a message at my house for three of the last five days.  The caller does not identify herself, but does use my correct first and last name.  I have heard from three different callers, but the script is the same.  They didn't seem to understand the machine picked up, since they keep asking if I'm there.  They then say "no response" and leave a number where I can call them back if I have any questions.  Since they don't identify themselves, why would I call back?  Other people who received this call have had some relationship with Sprint / Virgin Mobile, but I don't have a cell phone...

Yes, Sprint also bought out US Cellular, and this is the Sprint number. Sprint is also offering US Cellular customers a deal as we lose our service end of October and must switch to another provider. Sprint is working to secure our business. This is NOT A SCAM!

This is not a Sprint rep. They claim to be, but it's actually a phishing scam to try and get you to tell them your personal information.
Do not even tell them your name, they are thiefs!
Ignore the call or tell them they have the wrong number.

YOU JUST GOT SCAMMED.  Sprint would NEVER call like this.  If they did it comes up as 000 or 201 or 412 ONLY THREE DIGITS.  Also, they ONLY send texts this is from a Sprint Supervisor that I just spoke to.  DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION.

Telemarketer
It's real, calling from Sprint. Knew my address asked for pin number, knows my e-mails what kind of phone I had how much I used 4G. knew everything about my account. They sold me an extra battery for .99 for my EVO. Sent tracking number the whole nine. That was about it. No biggie.

Just call the number back - it redirects to Sprint, so it's Sprint. But the origin of the call is likely a 3rd party Sprint contracts with. The 3rd party probably has no direct access to your account. If you need to save on overages, just call Sprint direct.

Looks legit.  Received it in a piece of mail from Virgin America, now bought by Sprint.

This call center was created to deal with customers that were Helio - then Virgin Mobile - now ???  This is the "sales center" that will contact you in order to try to retain you.

Except I got that little thing called physical evidence proving its a legit number.  I think all the people that say this is a scam no that its not and are just trying to get back at sprint by trying to scare current customers.

As far as non customers being called this department also being telemarketers for Sprint would make sense.  That is why they do not leave a message as most telemarketers do not.  The overages thing is a selling tactic some people will panic and upgrade to a more expensive plan.  The tactic is wrong.

So if your not with sprint and have no interest in sprint ignore the call. If you have Sprint answers see what they have to say because it not hard to say sorry I am not interested and hang up.  Check any account problems they may clam you have online or through listed sprint numbers because again this just seems to be Sprint telemarketing.

It is a legit number i have an virgin mobile contract phone account. And do to the merger they're offering me to change over to a sprint phone with out sign up fees and hopefully w/ out another deposit. They didn't call me, virgin mobile sent me a piece of mail with that number. So don't worry about giving information out if there calling you they all ready have it.

It's a legitimate 3rd party company hired by Sprint to offer incentives and phone contracts that aren't published.

I just got a call from this number, no message left.  I am NOT, however, on a SPRINT plan (I haven't been for almost FOUR YEARS), so this is super fishy and does not coincide with what everyone is saying about this number being SPRINT.
Repeat: Do not give these people any information!

I have to say that a common thread a few of us have shared, is that our contracts are coming to a close. My contract ended in November and I began to receive calls from unknown 800 numbers, this one included, so I'm thinking they are most-definitely telemarketers.

That said they attempted to use the overage approach, to which I have been able to check my balance online and am no were near the overage. I'm not sure about others, but I refuse to deal with a business that attempts to sell to me based on false pretenses.

This number is most-definitely going on my ignore list.

This is not a Scam.  I got a letter from Virgin Mobile with an opportunity to switch to Sprint and this is the number listed. I will take to time to explain so the people that keep reposting this number is scam can not say I am lying.

Sprint bought VM and before that VM bought HELIO.   Helio members became VM post paid customers.  Sprint will be phase those people into Sprint. This is why I have the chance to switch. The buyout of VM by Sprint was just finished in November this deal was thrown together to get people over to Sprint who are unhappy with there current services with VM postpaid.  This is a specialty department they are the only ones who have this info at this time no one else at sprint does, obviously they handle other situations and promotions as well.  It's rumored there will be more promotions out in the Sprint mainstream for VM postpaid customers in the future.  Again this one here was thrown together because the VM postpaid phones are so bad people are just paying the ETF's and going to Sprints competitors of course before the buyout some people would choose Sprint anyway but. Sprint is covering these ETF's because it don't cost them any money to wave it and they can make a lot more then $175 getting people into a new contract with them.  That $175 plus additional discounts will keep people from just paying their ETF and jumping to one of Sprints competitors because now Sprint has the best deal and the only people they will loose are those not interested in Sprint and they will still make $175 from them.  People I know that have taken the deal have their sprint phones and there accounts activated.  Oh here is a link to a photo I took of part of the letter http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y271/brian461oia/0103100002.jpg

Also if you call the number on the weekend it will say Sprint and to call back at normal business hours.  They ask for you number and so on for security purposes.  Just because they call your cell phone they don't know its you on the other end.

So in conclusion if you get a call from this number do not ignore it.

They use this number 8776240262 as the callback number on text messages that I send out. What would be the reason for that? Can anyone explain why they would put that number down in place of mine in the callback number?

Was called from this number by a Sprint rep. They informed me of the buyout of Virgin Mobile and that I would be grandfathered in to a new contract without any fees, as well as a new phone at no extra cost.

It is my understanding that this number is calling to try to get you the "best plan".  The overages they are referring to are minutes or text messages, not unpaid bills.  They just called me and asked if they could go over my account with me.  I told them, "Not unless you are going to pay my bill for me!"  I hope this help clear things up for you.
