PLEASE, PLEASE STOP ARGUING NON-SENSE!!!!!!!!!! If someone has their identity stolen I don’t think that’s something to pock fun at or try to discredit. If a school teachers has nothing more to do then indulge in constant back and forth comments, but have nothing to do with what’s actually going on then what does that say. The collection agency never called you right? You stumble across this website in error correct? Yea right…lol!  Some one should be the bigger person and STOP! Maybe the person with the 6 cars and 700 credit score? Perhaps the business owner? Not sure, but damn who cares?  If you own all of New York and Mars SO WHAT!!! Both of you get over it. The crack head comment was at fault here. Don’t fall behind someone else ignorance.

I got two calls stating that I was wanted for questioning in which I have NO CLUE what this company is or have never received any paperwork from them.  I called twice and then she returned my call nicely and I was unavailable.  I then received another saying she was going before a corportate office and that she felt sorry for me.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS INVOLVES AND I HAVE A CLEAN RECORD.

I got a call from these people stating that they would arrest my husband within an hour if I did not send them $499.80.  I contacted my lawyer and they were told to fax them some information.  After they received the fax Ms. Spillman was suppose to call the lawyer's office back.  After checking today, I found out they have not received a call back from Ms. Spillman.  Also, on Friday, 9/19/08, I contacted the Arkansas Attorney General's Office and the lady told me to definitely file a complaint with the state.  I did so on line and am waiting on an answer from the Attorney General's office.  This is definitely a scam.  DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE MONEY!!!!!!!!

I received a message from my mother who was very upset and scared for me on 08/22/08 stating that a Steve Ortiz called me stating that I needed to return his call that same day (he left message at 8pm), or I would need to seek legal representation for charges being filled against me. I called the number back the next day and got the switch board operator. I asked her where was I calling to she informed me it depends on who I was calling for; I told her Mr. Ortiz she transferred me over. A lady answered the call and informed me Steve was her assistant and proceeded with verifying all my information. Once I informed her all was correct she then went on to inform me our call was recorded and she would need to read me my rights, which would be repeated to me once I was apprehended by the police. I asked her what the call was about and she gave me a case number and told me it was in reference to an online loan from 2006. I informed her that I hadn't applied for an online loan. She stated that money was stolen and that my case had been investigated for 2yrs. She told me once I was arrested I would need to make sure I have an attorney. I informed her no one has tried to contact me in the past on my so called debt for online services, nor would anyone be arresting me without sending me all documentation of what's going on. I told her when the police are ready to come get me to call me directly so I can inform them on where to pick me up. The lady never gave me her name, but asked me had I ever been in trouble with the law and I informed her never she in turns tells me well now you have sweetheart and hung up.

I called her back when she realized it was me she told me to get an attorney and hung up. Me not being sure if this was real or not called around to some attorneys to be on the safe side and called a relative that is in the collection field on this. I was given this website and once I read all the complaints. I was upset because these people had my mother thinking I was going to jail. I called them back and gave Mr. Ortiz a piece of my mind. He tried to argue with me, but like I told him he just a $12hr collector harassing people and violation all customers rights. I will be filling a complaint against them.

Government Actions

Per a January 25, 2007 press release, Illinois Attorney General's Lisa Madigan's has filed a lawsuit against Arrow Financial Services for allegations that debt collectors used unfair tactics and deceptive practices to collect money from consumers.

Madigan's lawsuit charges Arrow with multiple violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. The suit specifically alleges that Arrow attempts to collect on time-barred debts over ten years old, attempts to collect on debts that have been discharged in bankruptcy or that have been settled, engages in abusive practices in an attempt to collect, such as using profanity, attempts to obtain payment without proof of debt, refuses or fails to provide proof of debt, illegally contacts consumers' family members and workplace, and withdraws money without authorization from consumers' bank accounts.

Madigan's lawsuit asks the court to prohibit Arrow from engaging in deceptive debt collection activities and further violating Illinois' consumer protection laws. The lawsuit seeks a civil penalty of $50,000 and additional penalties of $50,000 for each violation found to have been committed with intent to defraud. Finally, Madigan's lawsuit asks the court to order Arrow to pay restitution to consumers and to pay all costs for prosecution and investigation of this case

OMG so many people are posting on here about payday loans and companies scamming them but what about you? Did you not take out a payday loan and then failed to make good on it? Now you want to come on here and sue for unlawful debt collection practices and cry like babies because you lost some money? Where do you think the money came from when you needed it? Now these companies want their money back and resort to scare tactics and you run and get the government involved? The funniest part is that all of you idiots will run to the same online payday loan companies again when you need it...most of you probably need it to support your crack addiction...but hopefully now the lenders will be more cautious of who they lend money to. You people are probably part of the scum that makes up the minority of people who have a FICO score of less than 500 and could not get approved for a loan with an APR of 50%...pay your debts and quit your belly-aching...it makes people with good credit like myself sick. I'm getting off this website now because I am disgusted by the people on here that do everything they can to NOT pay what they owe!

Practicality 101,

So you’re mad because your business f***ed up huh? You must be the woman informing people they’re going to jail in 2mins lmao!! You dummy!!!! You think everyone on here has bad credit? You stupid and ignorant individuals. I guess you’re trailer park trash, right? You’re judging hundreds of people before knowing their issue so I’ll be the judge on you. Loans are taken for different reason. It's not your place judge or call anyone a crack head. You called us all crack head..OMG...LOL!!! Obviously you have no degree of education to make such a statement. I didn’t read anyone crying. I read were people were warning others and taking control of the bad collections that is being perform by you or you’re company. You state how great your credit is but you message behavior is wreck less and came across as someone with no education or good credit, but rather someone that was mad because people have found out about you and you’re company. For you to know that people take out loans because their on crack you must have 1st hand experience. You  must have a husband that takes your check for crack (probably do crack together)!! You must have a mother or father that is/was on crack/meth or perhaps your husband, baby daddy is a drug dealer. Better yet, perhaps you’re a hoe by night and a $12hr collector by day?
That was me being judge mental, like you.

We all live everyday lives of the unexpected...jobs, kids, death, bills so for you to judge is out of order. I didn't have a loan, never took one out...so I guess that takes me off the crack head list. So now what? Regardless of why or when the loans were taken there are still rules to collections my dear and unfortunatly your business have to follow them. You can’t get mad if all the crack heads here knew there rights as a customer and you wasn’t able to collect!! Instead your company has lawsuit, after lawsuit going. So you didn't meet month end totals!!! Find a new job s**t!!
Your companies are the dummy that gave out the money so eat butt sweetheart. Just like there are rules to paying the loans back, there are rules to collections as well. Know your business before you starting calling people trying to collect or you'll end up right where you just might be now. OUT OF MONEY AND JOB...GO FIND YOU'RE CRACK MY DEAR.

I just got a telephone call from this phone number and was told that I was under investigation for not paying a check loan and if I did not callback in an hour to get instructions where to send my $500.00 I would be arrested. Like I told the young lady that made this threat, I am 74 years old in a wheel chair. I live in a retirement home and draw social security. All my needs are met and I have no reason to seek a loan so she must have the wrong person.  She got very angry and told me the police will show up and hung up on me.

Wow..."Kimp," angry are we? You know what they say about "assumptions" right? Well, you are DEFINITELY the poster child of being as A** because...I don't work for the company! I am simply a person who came across this website and stated MY OPINION. I am a school teacher of 5 years, so I have my education. The fact that you took what I posted so personally...it hit such a nerve....really shows that YOU are the one with problems! Grow up...name calling is really uncool "dude."

Secondly, I have worked in substance abuse counseling. Instead of bad-mouthing me in cyberspace, why don't you do some research on "high-interest short-term loans" AKA "payday loans" and find out that 82% of drug addicts take out payday loans regularly because their regular income cannot support their habit. Another example of these short-term loans is pawn shops which are frequented by drug addicts.

You are absolutely right, I had no right to insinuate that anyone that posted on here is a crack-addict, scum, or anything else and I wish I could take it back...I apologize. But I still stick by the fact that it makes me sick when people borrow money, admittedly DO NOT pay back the loan, and then the company resorts to whatever means necessary to receive the money and then people want to moan and groan over it! It's wrong....don't borrow money that you cannot pay back!!!!

This company resorts to scare tactics because they are an illegal debt collection company. But you know what? I hate to say it but those of you that gave them money had it coming...borrowing money and not repaying it takes that money out of the pockets of people who work for it and cause unemployment rates in the corporate industries to rise.

And why would you take out a payday loan if your credit score was good enough to get a loan elsewhere?

Kimp...Improve your life, improve your credit, improve your attitude, earn some money, pay back your debts, quit yelling at people you don't know (blow your nose while you're at it...it's full of snot and boogers), and pay back the money to your debtors!!!

Just like the Lord's prayer says, "And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors."

Practicality 101,

We can go round and round with the insults, but I don't have the time to so this will be brief. Your apology is accepted! Don't judge untill you know. I took your statements how you served it. I have never taken out a loan with anyone other than a bank. My credit score is fine if not better than yours!!! I was a victim of identity theft. Having someone steal your identity is a very hard ordeal to go through. I have worked and studied hard, as well as sacrificed many things to accomplish what I have, and for a lazy person to steal what I have worked for pisses me off.  Then to have some fool in cyberspace attack people with words like crack head and so on just boiled me over. If it seems like I took it personally YOU DAME RIGHT!!! I run my own business, I work for no one. I set the pace for my life every day and for you to judge me, PLEASE!! You were insulting to me and anyone else that had no clue of what was going on with this company. I have never applied for a online loan so therefore I knew nothing could be placed on me as far as jail, or any collections went. Sounds like you know you were wrong, rude, and out of order so good! Pray for yourself as well. Try not to be so self righteous school teacher. Think before you speak. Know your facts before you place stereotypes based off of the drug heads you know.

I received a call today as well as my mom and my work stating they were looking to talk to me over a legal issue that I was a witness to. I returned the call to speak with Cristina Reyes and she said It was serious and she would transfer me to the person who was handling my case.I spoke with a Jill Spellman and she said I owed Arrowhead Investments for a loan from 12/2006.She said if I didn't pay $722.20 today that the police were coming to arrest me for stolen property. I told her I payed that loan off and I went to find my receipt and she said if she had the debt in her office that it meant it was never paid. I told her I would find proof from my bank and so she gave me until the next morning but that if I couldn't find proof than she would have to report to the authorities and I Would be arrested for stolen property.I wish other people were informed before they gave up their money.

I am not attempting to insult anyone on here. I am stating what I believe. If a "collections" company has people's full names, last known address(es), and social security numbers then most likely there is some money owed to someone down the road. Think about it...with all the problems in the world today it is well-known that identity theft is on the rise. But how can a company do this for an invalid debt? Wouldn't the FBI have shut them down now if they are stealing people's identities? They are using scare tactics and other means to try to collect on a debt...that is wrong. But how did they get that information in the first place? To me, they had to obtain it from an organization where a consumer provided that information.

Now...on to your comments. In regards to credit score...I am not even going to attempt to dignify that with a response because I do not know anything about you and you do not know anything about me. I could tell you that I own 4 houses, 6 cars, have a 700 credit score...but why bother? Can I prove that in cyberspace? No...nor will I even make the attempt. Same thing goes to you...to me it's just words...meaningless as I can't even attempt to put a face with the words you type.

And again the "crackhead" comment...I already took that back and apologized so I am not going to go on any more about that. I admitted I was wrong so why do you keep bringing it up? I'm far from perfect and this is one of those times I was not so give it a rest please.

Who's judging you? Me? When? I'm sorry but if you take anything I say personally then you are really foolish...regardless of your income, occupation or credit score. Maybe you had a crack addiction at one point...I don't know but I really can't see how I was judging you at all! This is cyberspace...just chill.

Druggies I know? What you know me now? Get off your high-horse and make some sense out of the words you type seaweed.

LOL that comment about "snots and boogers" was there as a laugh and you just proved my point. You have your head held up so high and so bent out of shape that you fill your nose with every kind of ooglie possible (kleenex for you kimp? LOL). The fact that you did not even comprehend that reiterates the fact that you are a foolish putts who LOVES to rant and rave in cyberspace about people voicing their opinions!!!! I am laughing hysterically right now at your ignorance!!!!

Anyways if you respond (and I'm 95% sure that you will) please do so in a manner that your utter stupidity is not displayed in the text that is displayed on my computer screen.

I received a crazy call from a lady name Ms Callaway regarding a payday loan from Sept of 06.  She treatened me by saying since I made the loan over my work computer that I had violated some laws and that someone will be up at my job to take my work computer for evidence and take me to jail also.  I was falling for this until I decided to call the magaistrate office and they told me you cannot go to jail over a civil matter and they cannot come to your job.  I called Ms Callaway back from Spellman & Roman and told her I was not able to come up with the money and she said they will proceed with the proper steps.  I told her nicely that there was just nothing I could do and that I have talked with the court office and they told me some things I wish not to share with her.  She said she hopes everything work out and hung up the phone.  It has been 3 hours now and no one has come up to my job to lock me up.  I do believe this is a scam and people please do not fall for it.  They will tell you all this stuff over the phone but if you know you did not commit any crime then do not let them get to your head.

It's not ignorance when you publicly apologize for making that comment and admit yourself that you were out of line. Ignorance is when one keeps harping on it after one admits wrongdoing.

As many of you are aware I am a representative from Spellman and Roman. I must admit that I am absolutely APPALLED at some of the posts on this website. Let me explain a few things:

1. Our company is based in Toronto, Ontario (for those of you that don't know that is in Canada...a different country than the United States). Therefore the federal laws in which you all discuss apply to United States, not Canada in which we work.
2. We are a 3rd party collection agency. We obtained these debts and can validate them, but Canadian law does not state that me MUST validate the debt.
3. Pay up and avoid us having to contact you.

Good luck to all!

Well, Ms. Beatrice Baltimore, thanks for the info!

This still doesn't explain why your company LIES about their location, THREATENS people with imprisonment or violence or DODGES answering any legitimate questions about the alleged "debt".

THIS IS IMPORTANT, PEOPLE...SO MAKE SURE YOU READ HER POST RIGHT ABOVE MINE!  If they are located in Canada, think about it...they can't do a darn thing to you legally, much less have you imprisoned!  And while Ms. BB says they don't legally have to validate the debt, you as a U.S. citizen don't legally have to pay monies to a foreign country that won't comply with US regulations!

Thanks very much Ms. Beatrice...you basically just shot yourselves in the foot...now we know for sure you are not a threat!  Be smart everyone:  if you incurred the debt, go back and pay it off to the original debtor instead of these crooks who are intentionally trying to dodge U.S. Law.  Think about this:  if they don't legally have to validate the debt, then is it possible they don't legally have to tell anyone you paid them?  They can just take the money and run!

If you owe it, pay it with the original debtor and if you don't, tell these sheisters to go to hell and hang up on them.
