Sounds like a debt scammer to me.   Don't give them any information.  Don't talk to them.  No process server informs you in advance that they are going to serve you with papers.

Report them:  https://www.google.com/#q=where+do+i+report+abusive+debt+collectors

They are just trying to scare you into paying them something.

Missed call from UNKNOWN, listened to voice message: "courtesy" call from STEVE MCKINLEY about pending litigation matter, and provided 877-630-6495 and a file/reference #. Stated "independent" 3rd party calling on behalf of the filing party and that within 24 hours, paperwork would be processed and filed. Person stated that documentation had already been received to verify my address and place of employment but that I needed to call and verify my SSN. The man started message with my name, then ended message by saying someone else's name "(man's name), you have officially been notified." and hung up.
scam?

Receiving numerous calls looking for someone else and leaving threatening messages of pending court dates.  Identified himself as Steve McKinley with a call back number 877-630-6495.  He even called someone who does not even know the person they are looking for.  Scammer or what?

I am the latest victim of this. I am also an attorney and I can assure you that NOBODY calls you first before you get served with any notice of process. You also know it's a scam when they absolutely don't want to tell you who they are with. I asked what company he represents and he kept on insisting that I verify my name before he'd tell me anything. Adios, pal.

Came home from work to a message left on my recorder...asking for my son who has not lived at my house since 89...lots of legal talk, talking about 90 miles an hr...said he was Michael Johnson...said he was to call within 24 hrs. or else...and ended it with 'you have been served'...I called, same voice answered, he said his name was Michael but that there was no Michael Johnson there, asked lots of info as to who I am...I refused & told them not to call my house again or I would notify the police. I then googled the #, seems they go by several names & business names....they are a scam, not sure what they are up to but beware.

Yesterday my daughter received 2 urgent phone calls from phone number 877 630 6495, on her voice mail, asking her to call Michael Johnson from Access Verification Service, to verified her mailing address, social security and place of work.He said this was a legal notice and gave her a file number. Today was my mother's turn, same exact message. Thank God, I opted to search this phone number online which led me here.

I got the same message from Michael Johnson and I live in Guam, although I have a California vonage number.  He said this was a legal notice and my reference number was #2660789.  He also said HE made an appointment to come to my house today.  I looked up legal courier services and they don't even cover Guam.  This "Michael Johnson" guy must really travel.  This is definitely some scam.  You cannot be served over the phone or answering machine, and servers will definitely not give you notice to the day and time.  Please do not fall for this or even call this guy back.  Thank you for this post, by the way!

Debt Collector
Amazing. Similar situation here. Received phone calls with this reference phone number on my voicemail asking to call Michael Johnson from Legal Courier Services. Later that evening, spoke to my mother and she said someone had called my father's mobile number asking for my information. (My father lives 2000+ miles away and I have not spoken to him in 10 years AND I don't even know his phone number to have listed it in any way related to me.) The man gave my father a reference number to use when calling back. My voicemail also indicated I would be served either at home or work "tomorrow afternoon" if I did not call the number. I had concerns about the embarrassment of being publicly served at work, so I decided to search online for FDCFP regulations and found interesting information which led me to believe this was a scam of some sort. I opted to search this phone number online which led me here. This is an interesting method for targeting ill informed individuals about alleged "debts" and should be researched thoroughly before providing any further information for potentially abusive / scam artists.

SAME thing today! Michael Johnson
He DID know my social security number last 4 digits and my first and last name. He also called my husband first to ask for me from an unknown number. So they def have your information somehow and I am sure it is for bill collection but the only bills I have behind are emergency room bills...

Same exact message, that I have been legally informed and should call the office of the party who filed the claim or he will stop by my residence or work tomorrow in the afternoon etc.

I am pretty sure when you "get served" with litigation against you they don't courtesy call you. I am guessing its just a very shady bill collecting practice. I have heard random ones lately about "educational opportunities" for school loans etc. =/

My 87 year old mother calls me in a worried tone to tell me they received a call from a legal courier. We immediately went to their house to listen to the phone call. A man named "Michael Johnson"  stated "if my wife does not call 877-630-6495 the next day he will be forced to come by her work or home to serve her notice".
1) He did not know her name although he used a couple pseudonyms of who she might be,
2) Mom and dad have no financial tie in any way to our personal finances.
3) The courier did not Identify his companies name.
4) The courier did not identify who my wife would need to call.
5) We received no prior collections notification
6) We received no prior court notification.
The next day my wife received a call on her cell phone from "UNKNOWN". Since we do not pick up on "UNKNOWN" Calls she listened to the message it was the exact same message from the exact same person.
HMMMM!!?
I called 411 and asked to do a reverse look up on this number. The phone company was unable to identify who the call was from. After parusing every other 800 lookup known to mankind and getting no results, I decided to call. The message is as follows:
"You have reached the pre-litigation system, no one is available to take your call. Please leave your name, telephone number and your claim number and someone will return your call." (Fat Chance)
Once again they did not identify who they were.
HMMMM!!??
Way to many inconsistencies. Legitimate business are very clear about what they want and what they are doing. If it looks like a scam and smells like a scam IT IS A SCAM!!!
