I got a phone call from 877-640-1938 claiming they had a package for my sister-in-law that was pre-paid and such from United Express.  It has been a long time since we had received phone calls from people looking for her.  My guard was down, they have her address but I did not give them a phone number. Next time I'm going to say I'm looking for her too and hang up.  No more answering not provided phone calls.

On August 3, 2011, at 6:37 p.m. eastern s.t., I received a phone call from 1-877-640-1938.

The man on the phone stated that someone had delivered a package to a previous address.  He talked like he was sort of in a hurry, and throughout the conversation, he tended to stumble over his words a bit.  He said that a worker had delivered the package on Monday and left a note on the door.  He asked if I had gotten the note about picking up the package.  I asked him who he was calling on behalf of, and he said he worked for a package delivery service with a generic sounding name.  He said the package weighed 3.2 lbs and had come from Best Buy.  Best Buy had recently repaired (and subsequently damaged) my laptop, so I thought that they might be sending me something to follow up on my extensive complaining.  After I asked him at least three times who sent the package, I asked him to tell me who he worked for again.  This time, he gave me a different company name with the same generic feel (something like 'National Courier Service'), and he said that they were headquartered in Atlanta.  He had, at first, told me that the didn't know when the package could be delivered, but after he told me about the company and I seemed more at ease talking to him, he said that the package would be shipped out on Friday.  Then I asked him what time the package would come.  At this point, I figured that there was a 40% chance that this was legitimate, a 30% chance that this was a debt collector, and a 10% chance that this was a thief (after further review, I think there was an 85% chance that this was a debt collector and a 15% chance that this was an inept identity thief).  Under the pretense of finding out if somebody would be at home to receive the package, he sounded pleased when he asked me if I worked.  I told him that I did, and I gave him a very generic employer (one that sort of exist in this region).  He told me to expect the package on Friday, and shortly thereafter we hung up.

After we ended the conversation.  I filed a security alert with Experian and reported the incident to the FTC.

Called my landlord and asked about my payment promptness and if I still worked at *****. Sounds like a process server. They called a bunch of times but I usually don't answer. One time I did it was a debt collector.

This place called this morning asking for a person we have had several calls for. This person had the number before us , we have had it for 3 yrs. All the other calls were collection agencies. The female this morning also used the job reference lie.

Called my husband asking if he knew (womans name) he said yes, he did - it was his ex wife. They wanted to know where she was, what her name was now, all kinds of information. He told them he didn't know and didn't care. They kept asking questions and he told them the same thing - we've been wracking our brains trying to figure out WHY she would use him as a job reference! Now we know it is bogus - it happens again he said he will tell them what they are doing is illegal and he is going to report them...see how long it takes them to hang up!

i got  a call from them on the 23rd of december saying that i had a package from ups, under my boyfriend's name, on my cell phone number (which i've only had for about a month). the address they gave was from an apartment we had about 3 years ago. when i asked where the package came from they said the city that  we both grew up in. we called both of our families and no one sent a package. so i'm kinda wondering what will happen from this. i gave him our new address (thinking it was really ups), it wasn't until we didn't get a package that i became suspicious. also very curious as to how they got my phone number, since i have not put it online or anything

Got a call from them today.... Said his name was Tony from Premier Employment (or something like that).  He said he had some job opportunities.  When I asked what they were he said he needed my date of birth or last 4 digits of my SS#.  I refused and told him to email me some of the job descriptions - he refused.  Then he called my mother's house, then my sisters house.  This is NOT the way recruiters work.

Who can I call to report this guy?

Just got a call from them, they called twice in a row w/o leaving a message.  The caller had an indian/islamic accent and claimed they were trying to deliver a package from Best Buy.  They had a recent address of mine and I figured that it was someone I hadn't updated my address with since I've moved around a bit lately.  They said they'd deliver the package to my new address in around 35 mins...after nothing showed up over an hour later, I called it back and it said the message box is full and to call another time.  I'll update if anything comes across I think is related.

Got a call today from this number saying they were "ups" and that they were trying to deliver a package but didnt have my correct address and they wanted to know what it was. They also asked if they could leave it. The guy said he thought I would be upset because the package was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Then he said it was a rebate for $170 I asked how does he know what it is. He said it was insured for $150.
I called the number back and it was a full voice mail. I also googled the number and Its been used in other scams.
I called the non
Emergency number and reported it.

Subject: Suspicious persons

At about 2:30 today I saw a Caucasian male wearing a black "hoodie" and wearing sunglasses walking back an forth using a cell phone.at the corner of Calhoun and Hatteras. He then sat down and after I moved my van for street cleaning, he walked East on Hatteras. At that point, my neighbor came out and told me street was suspicious because when she went to get in her car the guy suddenly turned away and walked East on Hatteras up to a vehicle that was parked South bound on Hatteras at Stansbury..Then it took off, but it came back and parked West bound on Hatteras East of Stansbury.
I got into my car and drove past this black Toyota pickup to get a license plate number and a better view of the people sitting there. ( the suspect in the passenger seat and a Caucasian Red headed person in the drivers seat. I think they were in their late teens or early twenties. I drove past then came back and parked. They then left turning South on Stansbury. My neighbor said they parked  near the corner. When I crossed the street to talk to China she said they just took off. I got back in my car and headed down Calhoun.
Near Collins the truck was parked North bound on Calhoun.
I confronted them and the driver said they had a right to be there. I told them they were suspicious. He said that he had just bought a house on the corner (128 something -This is the.14000 block) . I asked him his name and he said something COW. I said I had never seen them before and asked again what they were doing here parking in different areas. He said it was his right to. Then he took off up Calhoun ,turned right on Hatteras.
I came home and talked to China and she said they drove past fast and turned South on Hazeltine. and they were laughing.

I just got a call saying the same thing, said they had a package from Macy's they tried to deliver, and no one was home so they needed my work address. and then told me there was a password on it that was more and likley my birthday, needless to say I gave them no info at all. A. I am home all day and was on monday, I am disabled and can't leave, second I would not give any info regarding my personal info to someone over the phone, 3rd it's a 1-877 numbers.  I called an attorney and THIS IS NOT LEGAL (In Colorado anyway) check your own state. if they do it to you, you can get several attorneys to take the case. I am currently looking up attorneys on line as I was also told they are some attorneys that spicialize in this and one can sue. when I find numbers I WILL POST THEM FOR ALL.
DON'T GIVE ANY INFO TO THESE PEOPLE!!! NO MATTER WHAT THEY CLAIM!!!!!

The same people called my home this morning. They've called me several times, over the past month or so, but, I've always hung up on them. They claim that they're calling about some bogus "job referrals", etc., that I supposedly contacted them about. Nonsense. Today, I'd had enough. I told them to never contact me again, that I want nothing to do with their company. I'm disabled & told them so. The guy said, "Really? What kind of disability do you have?". I told him that it was none of his business, as was ANY of my personal information. I considered the matter closed.
Then, when my mother comes home, she tells me that the same people called my building's manager, asking her for references about me! I can't believe it! I called the manager. They asked her what kind of persona I am, any jobs I do, do I live with my mother, my birth date, etc., all of which they seemed to know!
Something very untoward's going on here.
Someone in law enforcement needs to be contacted.

I had a missed call from this # (877-640-1936) and i didnt pick up becuase i was at work. They then called back from a 714-493-4800. This phone # is the same area code of my # so I answered it. They  said the same thing about some job application. I asked what it was for becuase the guy was stuttering on the phone. I told him  no thanks i'm happy where i am, he asked where and i told him so they then called my work. (im regretting this now). I asked if they had any extra work available for part time for the weekends then i finally caught on that something was wrong becuase he read off my old address that i havent lived at in over 3 years. They then called my work and i hung up on them.

a few seconds ago I Recieved a call from 877-640-1936, saying that they were 'National Express Delivery', with a package to deliver to me and they needed to know when was the best time to deliver to my address. They gave me a tracking number and sounded legitimate. Note: I am expecting a package from my sister.
They left me a call back number of 866-233-4368 with the tracking number.  I just happened to be online, chatting with my sister.  I asked her if she sent me the package by 'National Express Delivery. She told me NO, she had used UPS.  This made me wonder what was going on. So I called back the number and got voice mail. I did not leave a message. Instead, I Googled National Express Delivery and found this page.  After reading a few posts, I tend to concur. Its either a scam or a debt collector. Obviously a 'Scam" is not legal.  Is this Legal for a debt collector to do?  I Doubt it!Caller:
