Bill received on June 15,2011

A 3rd party billing  is allowed by FCC.

Your state then collects the additional tax.
49.99   + 3.50 tax  = 53.49

Check your contract with Verizon and tell them NOT TO ALLOW 3rd party billing.

Yep, just had this exact same thing happen to the place I work at. The people on the line had like a Dutch or German accent. I work at a golf facility and when they said Green Service Registry, I assumed they were some sort of  golf company directory that my place of employment had signed up for.

This is their website. http://search-green.net/web/home.asp

Same experience as above. After the call I called up the number to make sure that they were not going to charge the company that I worked for and the customer service rep assured me that I wouldn't get charged because I have expressed that I was not interested in the service. He seemed very abrupt and wanted to just get me off of the phone. Now that I've seen the two post before mine, I'm going to call my phone company to make sure that they didn't somehow charge me anyways. Does anyone know who I can file a complaint against?

Green Certification -- Same experience as above.  Relentless callers.  Caller said they wanted to update my business information.  I should have known better because this is my residential number and not my business number.  It was a contentious phone call, but I was guaranteed that this is a free service.  I was shocked to find $49.99 charge on my Verizon phone bill.  Fraudulent charge.  They never said this "verification" was going to cost me anything.  Perhaps, like the post above, they explained the charge while the tag-team talked over that part.  I guarantee I would never have agreed to that charge.  I called the company (877-640-5958) today and reversed that and all future charges.  I asked them where they were located.  The customer service rep did not want to tell me, but after I asked several times I was told "Florida".   I asked to speak to her supervisor.  After I while I talked to "Edd".  I told him that this is a fraudulent charge and that I am considering contacting the Attorney General.  He told me that he would investigate the call center that made the call, as well as the sales rep and he would determine if this was a one-time event or if it is more prevalent.  Apparently, it is more than one-time.  If it turns out to be widespread perhaps we should consider initiating a class-action suit.

This company keeps calling me to update my listing.  After I up date the information they switch me to a "supervisor" to verify the update information.  I hung up on them the first time after they were supposed to transfer me.  They kept calling me and I would hang up.  They called today and asked me not to hang up, they just wanted to update my listing.  I was transferred to a "supervisor" who would verify my information.   I refused to give them my last name a bunch of times, giving them just my last initial, but they said I had to give my last name.  They have recorded questions that ask yes or no questions and the supervisor says he will push the # key after my answers.  When the recording starts telling a bunch of info (maybe about charges to your phone bill) the supervisor is shouting over it telling you to have your paper handy to write the toll free number down.   The company was called "Green Certification."  The number they give to call is 877-640-5958
