They call every day and then hang up. No message is left. I called back once --big mistake. I was asked for my account # and social security #. I hung up immediately. Do not call back and don't give out your social security number. I am not a Wells Fargo customer.

This is definitely a scam. Banks never ask you for your full account or social over the phone. I called Wells Fargo's actual customer service number, and they told me this was probably a scam.

Orville,
800notes is not affiliated with your callers, we are not calling you either. 800notes is a forum for reporting who calls you and any information you may have about the call to share with other forum users. It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also. We can't stop anyone from calling you either.

I called the number and they wanted my account number or social security number. I asked why and they said they have an overdraft problem with my account. I told them I don't have a wells fargo account and she said, maybe we have the wrong name and hung up.
Totally a scam. No question about it.

We don't bank with Well's Fargo and have only had this phone number (not to mention this residence) for 2 months. The number shows up on our TV, but our home phone has never worked right so we don't even have it connected. They've been calling since the first day we had our cable on.
Lilly 2014-06-22 13:36:41 Unknown
First of all Wells Fargo will call you, and if there is no answer they leave a message. Call coming from this number don't. Also he bank when calling they only call once leaving a voice message, this number keeps on calling. I don't trust numbers that call and don't leave a message. Furthermore, when Wells Fargo has call me is from an 800 number.

Dear Wells Fargo/SCAMMER:
When you call a number at a place where NO ONE has ever had a Wells Fargo account, and you DON'T leave a message identifying yourself and who or what you want, it makes it seem like it can be NOTHING ELSE BUT A SCAM, okay?
LEGIT BUSINESS CALLING 101: STATE YOUR BUSINESS & CALL-BACK NUMBER. Simple.

We aren't trying to sell you anything. We are looking for the account holder we ask for to discuss banking matters. We have the number because that is the number the customer has given us as a contact number for them. We only disclose our first name and wells fargo bank because we are not legally allowed to discuss any kind of information with anyone with than the customer we are trying to get a hold of.
RJH 2014-05-28 23:15:36 Unknown
Yes, when you call us at that number we will ask for either your FULL social or your FULL acct number. Its the only way to pull up your acct so we can assist you.

I work for wells fargo in the overdraft dept actually and it is not a scam. If you have never banked with us or wachovia then all you have to do is simply stat wrong number and we will remove your number off the persons acct. We don't search for phone numbers, we get them from customers saying they are theirs. You are more than welcome to call customer service 800-869-3557 (this is the number off the back of your debit card) and ask for overdraft number. It'll be either 877-647-8551 or 877-647-8552 that they give you. We ask for Acct# or SSN when answering because we are so swamped with calls all the time, we need to pull up your acct, assist you and move on to other customers who need our assistance. Yes we do work sundays as well.

Big big SCAM!!!!!!!!
It is NOT overdraft department with wellsfargo
They ask me for my SSN right away and that is a big NO NO!!!
I talked to Wellsfargo and they confirmed that calls from this number are a scam!
Chris 2014-05-27 00:28:59 Unknown
I was going to ignore this number as most of the notes that have been posted said. I'm glad I didn't ignore it. It just happens to be the Wells Fargo Fraud Notification Department. Someone from another state had made a purchase of almost $900 and were stopped from making another 2 weeks ago using my Wells Fargo Check Card.
For the people that are skeptics, if you go to https://online.wellsfargo.com/das/cgi-bin/ses ... bZB5V7gZSWL-vvU and log in to your Account Summary and look at the Transactions listed; if the account is overdrawn there will be a note that states, "Your account is overdrawn. Please make a deposit or transfer funds from another account or call us at 1-877-647-8551."
So yes this number is quite correct.
They may be phoning your number by mistake if someone that banks with them haven't changed their contact number and the old number is yours. Or I'm sure there are fraudulent people that might have used your number for their contact number.
CMG 2014-05-16 15:19:44 Unknown
This is not a scam it could be someone else is using your telephone number as they did mine and this is the reason they keep calling. All you have to do is tell them to stop calling. I work for Wells Fargo and this is our collection dept for overdraft on checking accounts. Call the regular customer service number and ask for the overdraft dept and you will get this number.

Been having issues with Wells Fargo on several occasions. This one started out the same way social security number finding out a overdrawn balance that was outrageous. Day before I had went to bank and set up a overdraft because I thought I was over drawn..a 50.00 -150 ...I could imagine a mistake...997.00 ...lmfbo..... Jokes on..... Wells Hells Fargo here goes again.
Simply FYI 2014-05-10 16:10:18 Unknown
It is Wells Fargo, and there was an auto bill pay overdraft in an account of a deceased family member that was supposedly closed (our fault).
Julie Chase 2014-05-09 22:16:37 Unknown
I thought that there was an issue with my bank account. The person who answered immediately asked for my full social security number. Total scam, in my over 25 years of banking no one has ever asked for the full number

The call I received from this number was Wells Fargo, looking to collect a debt from a person I'd never heard of. They were polite and took my number off the call list when they realized I wasn't the person they were looking for.

This number called my company and the foreign gentleman identified himself as being from Wells Fargo. He asked for two people who are deceased. Once I let him know, he still wanted all the private information he could get on them. I know for a fact that their accounts with WF were closed months ago and all information was given to the bank at that time. This is 100% scam.

Who are you to tell anyone how to run their affairs?
jj 2014-04-18 23:11:33 Unknown
IF this is Wells Fargo Bank overdraft then why are they calling a phone number I've had for years asking for someone else? I NEVER had any Wells Fargo or Wachovia account ever and never heard of the person they keep calling for. Called a local Wells Fargo Bank and asked why they're calling for someone else to a land line number I've had for years and never received any Wells Fargo calls before Sunday morning? The 2 phone numbers I gave them that are calling they said do NOT belong to any Wells Fargo Bank or Office of any kind. This is a SCHEME they said and don't answer it or give any information out over the phone to whoever keeps calling claiming to be Wells Fargo. ANYBODY can set up an answering machine and state any name they want to that does not mean it's a legit call.
sheesh 2014-04-18 22:34:28 Unknown
Get calls from this SHADY Wells Fargo overdraft too looking for someone else which is suspicious because I've had this phone number for years an never received any Wells Fargo overdraft calls looking for this person. It's not Wells Fargo calling because I called a local Wells Fargo Bank and they said none of the phone numbers calling are for any of their banks or offices. The FTC just posted a scheme they shut down that fits these calls.
Joanne B. 2014-04-18 00:54:56 Unknown
This # keeps calling. I ignore it. They never leave a message. From reading the previous posts it looks like its a Wells Fargo number, however we don't and never have banked w/them...There isn't even one in our town. Persistant little
Buggers!
