I received a phone call like all the other posts, and said I would do it. But I was concerned once I got the email and did some research, so I decided to call the number back. Once I was connected, the lady started her obviously prepared speech. I interrupted to let her know that I had already received the email, but frankly after some research, that I was concerned about downloading the gadget without more information about the company. SHE HUNG UP! I don?t know about anyone else, but I?m definitely not going to have anything more to do with them! Any legitimate company will not hang up on you.

I received a voice mail message from this number yesterday from a man who I think said his name was Kevin.  He said it was a recruiting company, did not leave a name of the company, and left this number to call him back.  The red flag for me was he said, anyone who answers the phone can help you.  NO legit recruiters will leave a message like that.  I called back and it was Work, Save, Retire.

Work Save Retire called me as well.  I couldn't make out the "save" part so I called them back.  I got the typical "please hold while we connect your call to one of our ... [blah blah blah]."  I think they responded a little too early because I didn't hear anyone say hello ... it was silent.  I could, however, hear the call-center environment in the background, if you know what I mean.  I didn't offer a "hello" just to see what I could figure out ... If it was important, and the place was legit, the person on the other end would give a rat's pattootie --They'd at least try to say "hello" again.  Not surprising, they did not.

Next, I looked them up searching for "Work retire recruiting" and this thread popped up.  Glad I did that.  Now, via Google Voice, I can block them from calling me.

Well this number has been calling for my husband and I...one week it will be for him and the next week it will be for me.  Today they called my cell phone and then called the home.  I just called them back, before I could say anything they asked for my husband and when I told them they have been calling for me and my husband they hung up.  I think I will call them back and bug them as often as they are bugging us.  I am even on our state's do not call list....I am tired of this group and the other group that keeps stating 'its your last call to lower interest rates'...I have told that group to remove our number and they continue...

To be blunt -- I don't believe you for a second.  So -- they ended up getting money from you anyway if you actually did what you indicated you did.  I don't believe it for a second.

Weird -- I just got a call from "Work, Save, Retire" also -- spoke with Sara Davis.  She gave me the same 2 steps that everyone has indicated here.  Curiously, she said it is a '2-step process:  We will work with a recruiter and the provide you with job search information (not needed, I know what I'm doing) and, all that we ask, is that you meet with a retirement 'counselor'".  Just strange -- instinct was telling me to run away -- and now I agree that I will after reading about everyone else's experiences.  Why was it important that she know how much (approximately) that I had in my 401k?  She said that "we will make you forget about the other recruiters you have worked with in the past" -- because they have largely been very disappointing.  Just very strange ... if you think about it logically, how many companies are going to have a 'blank check' ready to give to anyone for a percentage of that new employee's salary?  In my experience, companies have well-defined arrangements with recruiters to manage their costs -- not the way it is indicated  here.
This definitely sounds like a scam to me -- also, she said "when the recruiter calls, please be sure to call him /right back/ when  he leaves you a message".  That seemed stranged to me also.
My 'spidey sense' is tingling -- I will not be taken advantage of.

What is wrong about an career transition firm calling to try and help you find a job?

It is not uncommon for call back numbers to be different than what shows up on Caller ID. Companies usually have multiple phone numbers that all lead back to the same place.

If you take 30 seconds to answer the phone and explain to them that you are all set on your job search they won't bother you anymore. Their goal is to help people find jobs so if you don't need help there is no reason for them to contact you.

Telemarketing implies that they are trying to market something which they are not since you don't pay anything.

I don't see how an outplacement firm is responsible for running people out of work.

There is no cost to you. The company generates revenues multiple ways that do not rely on job seekers to pay anything. It doesn't make sense to ask for money from people without a job.

It's odd how people wonder why sites like CareerBuilder provide job seekers information to companies that help people find jobs.

The reason there is a different number is because most people won't answer a long distance number. Work Save Retire is located just west of Minneapolis.

REcd message from work, stay retire.  If anyone says something is "no cost" within their message, you know you have problems. Meaning... it does have some sort of cost.

My resume is posted on careerbuilder, dont know why careerbuilder allows this.
BTW: they actually called from a different, local number.
You have to call the 877 number

I did not solicit a call from these people, only posted my resume to careerbuilder and monster, which they presumably dug up.  I'm already employed as a systems engineer and get 2+ calls per day from recruiters, so no job search help or financial advice is needed.  It's nothing but a telemarketing firm trying to prey on the unemployed/desperate.  I love that the corporations who ran everybody out of work are now preying on the suckers they've made unemployed.
