called asking for my mom sayin she had sent him a check. when I asked who he was he said adam and then hung up. thought it was really shady, called my mom...she has no idea who the guy was.

Started getting calls from this number about 4 days ago and have called 3 to 4 times a day everyday since.  I have set my computer/modem to intercept the call and automatically hang up on them (along with the many others).  Calls like these in general have increased to my household 10 fold since Thanksgiving and I am adding new numbers to be intercepted daily.  I would like to know why the DoNotCall law does not cover ALL calls requesting money, except for legitimate creditors that have business with YOU.  Why are so called not-for-profit organizations exempt from calling you at home and badgering you for money?

This number calls me day and night without stopping. I called back as soon as I am called and the number states it is closed. Navy veterans service has called me over 100 times in the last year.

This is despicable and I will never donate to them because of this!

They called 5 times yesterday.  I used the zapper and it says we do not accept these calls this is your notice to take us off your list.  Well today they just called again and I answered it and it was silent and hung up???

What can we do???

They called me today.  I picked up and said hello several times, with no answer... Though someone was on the line.  Usually people from that number try to get me to donate money.  I've asked them to take me off their call list or put me on the no call list, they tell me they aren't solicitors so there isn't a "no call list"...  I think it's bull...

1st call, at 9:36 a.m. no message left. I am on the do not call list as well and I agree, so called non-profit should be part of the no call law. If I'm ever home and they call again, they'll get an air horn.

Someone called me and asked if I wanted to pledge a donation to the "Breast Cancer Organization" and I said yes then the person I was talking to connected me to someone else to verify my address, etc, and this person said "Thank you for your pledge to donate to the U.S. Navy Veterans Association"  So I then thought it was a scam so I did a search to find out if this organization was legit, but nevertheless, they flat out lied to me.

They called the other day, and I inadvertantly answered as I usually allow my recording machine screen all calls. I told them I might give them $10 but felt they might be a scam as they asked how soon I would be sending a check.  The also suggested not using a credit card to lull me into believing they were legit.  Then the guy says he needs to put someone else on the line to verify the amount of the pledge and this person asks for already known infomation, and then asks when I might be sending the check.

I am a disabled Vietnam era vet and support that organization in various ways.  I do not need any help, but some of the others do.  Be careful how you make yourself feel good by donating.  Know the organization.

I keep recieving calls day and night from a man named CHARLIE from the Navy Veterans Association He is very insistant and rude!!! He keeps asking for a donation and when I say I can't give a donation he will even begin to yell......he has consistently called for the past week...he is very impatient! I can't believe these people. WHAT A SCAM!!!!!!

He's 'on the lamb' for fraud!

Joann- in what state do you live?  Apparently they've been shut down by a number of states and any of those would be very interested in the fact that solicitation is going on.  It looks like Ohio, New Mexico, Hawaii, Oregon, Florida and Virginia at least are all taking a look at them.  Maybe contact the charity regulation agency in your state and let them know?

Got call late 9:00pm.  Caller said he was from ACS, US Navy Veterans Association.  Didn't sound professional or legit at all. I hung up.

They called my mom who is her 80.got her to donate $10 calls her and sends her letters   I am calling now to remove her name and to report this .Thanks for all your message as well.If they go On I am sending to the Press / and 101.5 and help me howard. RJ

I get three or four calls from this number every week, and they never leave a message.  These people are predators.  Do NOT feed them.

Several months back I found a small program for the PC that intercepts calls that you designate, and then hangs up on those call immediately.  If you desire, it will also play a pre-recorded message before it hangs up.  Several messages are included with the program, including one asking to be taken off their call list, a modem sound, etc.  Of course, it also keeps a log.  If you look around there are several programs like this available free for the download.  The one I use can be found here:

Many people mistakenly believe that all unwanted calls will cease once they are on the Do Not Call List.  This is not true.  Telemarketers that you have a prior relationship with or that are connected with a business you have an existing relationship with (credit card companies, online stores, etc.) may still call you.  In addition, charities and political organizations may call you.

I can't understand why they are calling us.  We have a son serving in the Navy overseas.  Does the US Navy know this is happening?

I do not believe this is a legitimate navy veterans fund raising program.  I have never been so rudely treated over the phone when I asked for more information about the organization calling.  The caller said that the US Navy had hired his company, ACS (Association for Community Services), to solicit donations for US Navy veterans.  He also said that I could go to navy.org to get more information.  Navy.org is not the official website of the US Navy.  Even so, their was no information about ACS on navy.org.  When asked to be removed from his solicitation list, he hung up before I could complete my sentence.

It's an FCC complaint site...you can just fill out the form online..takes one minute to try to get rid of these scumbags.  I've already sent one form and I'm still getting calls all throughout the day.  Not sure how fast the FCC responds to these, but I'll just keep complaining!

More of this phony Navy group soliciting money again. They started called days ago and now call at all hours, day and night, several times a day.

Yes, picked up the phone and some guy said he was calling on behalf of US Navy veterans... I quickly said I had another call coming in and hung up. I have no idea if it was legit or not, just somebody hawking for money that I wasn't going to give. DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE IF THE NUMBER IS STRANGE!! I thought maybe it was one of my legit creditors. Ha.

Got this call this evening 1/22/08 from what they said was US Navy Veterans Association requesting money for vets overseas. Was going to transfer me to operator when I hung up.

Got a call said it was about a check we mailed them .I said we didn't send them a check because I don't know you .He said he'd just call back later .
