they keep calling all the time
Elizabeth 2013-01-24 15:43:14 Unknown
I've been getting these calls for about the last month or so. No message left. I NEVER answer calls when I don't recognize the number. It's never a good thing. I have no credit cards, so I couldn't possibly owe anyone anything. They're just phishing around and I'm not taking the bait!

If you do have a debt that you have not payed they will find you and call you non stop. In my case they used a guy that was a tracker. He is payed to find you. If he serves you papers it is an automatic $200 charge. He did not want to give me a phone # to call or the company trying to get the money because it cost him part of his commission. Told him if he shows up to my work and serves me paperwork I will most definitely go to jail for assault. "Do you really not know what you did"? Here's a number and claim #. Called them. I took a 125pay advance Back in 2007 in Fort Lauderdale. I can own up to that. I remember it like yesterday. The lady told me I owed $390 then said oh wait. Since he did not serve you papers it is $190. I live in Omaha now and have for 5 years. Was waiting for that to show up. Tried to pay it 4 years ago and it was out of the paycheck advances system because it had been given to a collector. There are a lot of scams out there and you have be careful. I have people from India calling me every now and then. If you do owe, fess up to it. If you get served papers it is an extra $200 fee. In this case I did pay because I know that it was legit. Also, if you can ever help it. Do not use a paycheck advance, some of those places sell your info. That's how you get scammers calling you all the time. The scammers will tell you that you will have a Federal Marshal come to arrest you. That is illegal and won't happen. Don't let them scare you. If they have an accent and a bit of background noises they are more than likely a scammer. Take at you frustrations with the scammers, call them every name in the book. They will cuss at you too. That would not happen with a legit company. I am a sales professional and have to carry myself in that way , but when scammers try and take my money I will go medieval on them.

They ARE a collection agency. They continually call me asking for some guy despite the fact I repeatedly tell them they have the wrong number. Annoying!
Collections Squasher 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
You need to file a complaint and need to send a verification of debt letter to them also requesting that they stop trying to contact him. Look at Budd Hipps webpage. they will tell you what to do. They are breaking the law, without a doubt
Kellie 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
yep, Nationwide for Capital One. It is clearly a recorded message...and the Mary Jones name could have been more creative! Come on.
pinkllady 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
I'M SURE THIS IS CAPITAL ONE BECAUSE THEY CALL MY CELL # WHICH IS A PRIVATE # IT IS NOT IN MY NAME,SO I HAVE KNOW IDEA HOW THEY HAVE THAT #. Marry Jones keep calling on my cell phone from 877-377-6493. I do not answer unknown number so she always leaves message. It says if I am not Ronald Kibly I should hangup the phone in the 3 seconds given before the message. For the first few calls I hangup as required and hope they figurout I am not him but the messages keep coming. Then I wanted to know what it is about and listen to the message. It said it is nationwide credit and wanted to collect a dept. Then I called her and told her it is a wrong number. She asked me about myself and I told her that I can not give her any personal info as it is not about me but the calls keep coming. I don't know what they wanted but please be careful of this calls.

My brother-in-law received threatening phone calls from a man at this number who claimed my brother-in-law owed $8K. This is totally untrue, and the man as asked to call no more. He called back several more times. When he was told we would sue his company, he threatened to have the police come over and arrest my brother-in-law. The bank the caller said was owed the money is not one with whom my brother-in-law does business. We probably will file a complaint with the FTC is he calls again.
Pam Burton 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
This number calls all the time and I do not know who they are. They never leave a message and I do not answer calls from unknown numbers. My phone number is unlisted - I pay for that service and I am also on a "do not call registry"
Cat 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
They're a debt collection agency. Nationwide. It doesn't matter if you're on a do not call list or not. They are trying to collect a debt from a credit card or other payment.
The men are jerks though. The women are great to talk to, and will help you with absolutely anything you need.
Hal 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
These people also called me but they DID leave a message.
They asked me to return the call, that they were trying to
locate someone with the same last name... but the toll-free
number was a dead giveaway. They continue to call but they'll
stop when they never get an answer
RICH 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
THEY CALL ALL THE TIME AND SAY THEY WANT THE LOCATION OF MY HUSBAND ARE THEY THAT DUM I WOULD LET THEM KNOW ANY THING ABOUT HIM THEY SHOULD NOT RAISED THE INTERST SO HIGH HE WOULD NOT PAY IT. HE NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT ON ANY THING FOR 30 PLUS YEARS.
Call FTC 2011-06-06 21:04:42 Unknown
They're a debt collection agency. Nationwide. It doesn't matter if you're on a do not call list. The story is they do not care if you are not the debtor. If you mail something to them there is a chance you then do become the target. If you tell them as I have they have the wrong number you still get calls.
Men, women, and child-like idiots still contact my number.
Mary Jones called today, last week there was a recording stating if this is not the number for the person they were calling pick-up the phone and hang up. I did just that. The numbers are programed in a calling computer data base. I have had four different names to call.
Jeff 2011-01-06 16:49:29 Unknown
Anyone can selectively block unwanted calls from these collection agencies by accessing the features directly from your home phone. For my area, to selectively block a call, you wait until the unwanted caller hangs up and dial *60. A voice prompt will come on the line and give you directions on how to block the last call and how to turn the call block feature on. If you have questions on how to do this in your area, call your local telephone company's tech support department and they can give you guidance. I used to be badgered by these same idiots, calling for someone that does not live at my residence. It was obviously a wrong number, but they won't stop calling no matter how much convincing I try to give them that I am NOT the person they are looking for. Since I started using the call block feature, the calls have almost completely stopped. I currently have 8 of these annoying a-holes blocked.

The message they left said only that they wanted to verify an address. They call several times a day and have for the last week or so

IT is NCO, Nationwide Credit, NCC I believe they are all related. Send two letters telling them to cease all communications and also a fax. My next step is to report them to the FTC for the violation. The letter came from Clark Howards web site under Credit/Debt called the "Drop Dead Letter" if you need a model. Both numbers are 866-227-658-8518 the other below.

I keep receiving calls from 877-658-8518 asking for someone named Barlett.
This is the Causey residence and if they checked before calling by doing a bit of research they would find no one lives here put my husband and myself. Please delete this number from your calling list. 941-475-7812

Called for someone else with a different name and a different company Special A Credit Mary Smith called back Nationwide Credit
Received a phone call which stated if they had the wrong telephone number to hang up. This was done after I complained about Nationwide. I requested the company not to call prior to these action.
The police (maybe) was at my house one night attempting to gain entry and walking throughout my house and attempting to walk upstairs in mt house. They statement was I made a emergency phone call. I had not. They did not call my home number to see if anyone responded. I did not ask to see ID based on the uniform.
My neighbors said someone was taking pictures of my house last week.
I contacted FTC again today. The person I spoke to said call the police. Have the neighbors call the police if anyone would appear at my residence. HAD ENOUGH I do not owe them anything. I have had my credit blocked because of identity theft.
I do not us AMEX, VISA, MasterCard, Chase, BOA nor Washington Mutual.
Oh well lessons learned. Tell them not to call does not work.
JC 2008-07-29 18:54:28 Debt Collector
This number is Nationwide Credit, a bill collector specializing in credit card collection. AMEX uses them, but so do VISA and MasterCard companies like Chase, BOA, and Washington Mutual.
A reminder to all of you hounded by these folks and others like them...they are just doing their job. However, the ball is always in your court because they are NOT allowed to call you on your cell phone or at your toll-free number, and they are NOT allowed to call you at home or at work if you JUST TELL THEM NOT TO. If you say this, then it is an unfair collection practice and a listable offense with the FCC. This applies to ALL creditors.

They skip trace Skippy. They look up a debtor's family and neighbors. Nothing is secret anymore. Thank Bush and his Patriot Act.

For the past month or so I've been receiving NUMEROUS calls from this number as logged under "missed calls." Some of the calls come in when I'm home, but I don't answer calls from blocked caller IDs. I've received multiple calls in a short period of time, sometimes 3 or 4 calls spaced 20 to 30 minutes apart; very annoying. I found this site while attempting to identify the caller. If it is in fact a debt collection agency, they definitely have a wrong number.
cheryl 2008-04-24 19:22:06 Unknown
Okay, so what do you do if they call you. I have received the same type of treats, bulling, called names, etc., and when I try and explain I have a identify theft claim w/the federal gvmnt, they still call and threaten. What can you do if they don't stop.. I have reported them to the attorney general, but apparently they don't care if they break the law. Any help wld be appreciated

More about Nationwide Credit, Inc.-- When I called the number that I was given by the caller, a woman who answered the phone said the company was 'Nationwide Financial.' However, this company is NOT a collection agency and is a respected financial institution.
don 2008-04-02 23:11:10 Debt Collector
More on Nationwide Credit, Inc.-- ten years ago the company agreed to a FTC fine of $1M for unfair/illegal practices (although they admitted no guilt). This, according to the FTC report, was the largest fine against a company in FTC history. It appears they are still up to their same old tricks, employing bullies who do not follow the law.
Investigator T 2008-03-28 18:54:03 Unknown
(877) 658-8518 actually belongs to:
Nationwide Credit, Inc. (Headquarters)
2015 Vaughn Road, Bldg 400
Kennesaw, GA 30144
Phone: (770) 644-7400
Fax: (770) 612-7299
You should contact the company's Compliance Department if you are receiving calls in error. Calls made in error from collection agencies are not violations of No Call laws. However, if determined that an incorrect number is being called, and the collection agency IS NOTIFIED that the wrong number is being called, the calls must cease. However, collection agencies can call you until doomsday, if you don't call them back and tell them they're calling a wrong number.

The call was not to me, but to my elderly parents-in-law. The caller was Ryan Nee of NCO financial systems; an extremely obnoxious, childish, and rude bully who has had several complaints about his collection tactics.
