If that were true, how did you find your way here?
Oh ... you also forgot to tell us the name of the company for which you are shilling.
By the way, Rebecca's post was made on 12 Jan 2013 ... over a year ago ... did it take you all that time to find your way here?  I hope you are not getting paid by the hour to do that!

Debt Collector
Receiving threatening calls from this number, claiming I owe an upaid debt from from 2007 which I have no recollection of? Company will not send me any info, paperwork, etc. stating name of creditor, NOTHING! Yes, I got scared, thought maybe I did owe the debt, but even if I didn't, and since they said I'd be arrested in a hour, I agreed to pay, as I was afraid.  They stated a process server would be at my door within an hour.  They said I could pay in three installments, so far I've paid over $500. They give me *receipt* numbers, there is nothing on my credit report about any unpaid loans/debt, however they scared me enough into paying.  I still owe a final payment, but after finding this site, I think I got taken.  I can't find any info on this company.  I had to give them my debit/bank card number, statement only shows *IMS, Amherst, NY*.  They put me on hold and say they are talking to attorneys to try to work out a *deal* so I don't get charged w/fraud? I don't understand how fraud can be an issue? Has anyone paid this company money out of fear? Were you able to get it back? And does anyone know if this company goes by any other names, as I cannot find a company by this name, IMS, on the BBB site in NY.  Any help information would be appreciated.  I'm thinking I need to cancel/close my debit card number now? Thank you all. Great site.

this is a jOIKE... I Worked for a Collection agency for 20 years and clearly know the law.  This company is not Legit... Or they would clearly give detailed info.  This company is getting info from people who are just trying to get Toll Tags etc.  You give you personal info to get a item that the STATE requires to get this tag then tries to tellyou that you took a LOAN.... NOT.... Who calls and says they are gonna serve you papers in 1 hour but decides to give you a chance to call another number to clear up 1st..... When I told them to serve me today, and I want to go to court.. They HU...... I will be contacting the BBB, Attorney General etc..... For anyone who got a call I would be VERY concerned.  I know I purchased a TOLL TAG and did give my personal info to get this for my car.... Some how they are now saying I took out a loan and used a bank account I do not have... Same spill, two charges against me..... BUT I USE TO INVIESTIGATE FRAUD FOR 20 YEARS..... i HANDLED BBC, ATTORNEY GENERAL COMPAINTS.... I will not back down and if you all gave personal info... You need to protect yourself.  If someone is going to file charges, you would clearly know... Their actions are not Legit, and the way they speak and terms they use is simply to scare you to pay them.. DO NOT PAY.... Write the BBC, Your Attorney General.... There should be a Class Action Law suit against this company... And I will be the 1st on the list.

These people are reprinting themselves as I & S and associates. I look this name up and there is no such business. I ask for names and info and they won't give anything out! No address, no credentials, nothing. All they want is my debit card # to pay a debt that isn't recognized by me. They scream and cuss at you when you won't pay and threaten to "serve you" papers. This is illegal and it's just flat out harassment. I have contacted them numerous times and its always the same.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
