Got two calls from what I can only describe as ghetto hood rats. One dude claiming he worked for the LAPD as a detective and I needed to call him back and verify my SSN. Yeah...call comes up unknown? I'll get right on it.

The other one was a baby poppin' ghetto hood rat axing me to call her back regarding two very important business matters because I was about to be served. She then went on to tell me to make sure that I carry two pieces of proper ID so that I could get the "paperwork". I've been served before and I had a buddy that worked as a process server. That's now how it works. They know who you are before they roll up on you. Bring in on Shaquinta, Shanita, Leshawn, DeShawn, Treyvone or whoever. My credit report is completely clean and has been for a decade.

Federal laws prohibit calls before 8am and after 9pm......if you have a caller ID - take a picture next time they call.
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act  has guidelines and they are companies out there who are legit who will help you gight back!

Do you just pay money to someone that will not verify information in writing? The looks of your response to complaints on this website and  your lack of maturity and professionalism we have the right to be questioning your calls and accuracy.

I just got a phone call from Randy Miller there.  As he was still referring to me by my maiden name, I knew this was something ancient if it even existed.  I told him before he even got going that I check all three of my credit reports weekly as well as my FICO score.  I have a high credit rating and absolutely nothing negative on it, so if he does have something with my name on it it is way past the statute of limitations. I also put him on notice to take this down because if he ever called again it would be an FDCPA violation and I would sue him for it.  And to have a nice day.

These guys called another member of my family somehow and stated there were court docs to sign.  Also stating that they would come to my work or speak to my supervisor, or track me down at my house.

So my family member called me all worried.  I also received the same message that day.  I spoke with a Henry and stated that they do not make outbound calls. OK.  Very short and rude.  I told them to send me paper work, then we'll talk.

*** NO ONE SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE OR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT***

These guys are full of it and using illegal scare tactics and forms of communication breaking privacy laws.

Persistently call my number, but always reach my answering machine (as I screen all my calls).

Never once has this caller/company left any sort of message, but the number of calls is rising on a daily basis.

Mistrust of any ''wrong number'' claim is standard procedure at all the rogue collection agencies. You will never get satisfaction from a verbal request, and number blocking turns into an arms race you will lose. Disabling your own phone system isn't really a solution, either. You're going to let one pesky boiler room prevent you from using equipment you paid for?

Again, the most effective tools are ink, paper, and Certified Mail labels.

}  I am on a current do not call list!

Bully for you. The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person and is therefore not covered. The few remaining state lists share this limitation. Here are the DNCR service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:

National Do Not Call Registry Q&A
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry

To halt the misfired skip trace calls, laying a paper trail is far more effective than verbal denials. My advice for "not me" cases is found here:

Your callers do not maintain this site or this web page. Your callers cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. You cannot expect compliance with your orders until you deliver them *directly* to your caller.

Someone was nice enough to post a mailing address almost a month before your misplaced demand, *directly behind* your post. Make USPS Certified with return card your new best friend.

If you're going to make up sh&t, at least learn the correct legal terms and procedures involved. (You'll probably still end up looking like the twit you are, but at least you won't look like a complete, drooling idiot.)

I believe this is a scam trying to make people "think" they owe something. They have been calling my cell phone and I don't answer. If they were for real, I believe you would have already received info via certified mail as it is relatively easy to find addresses etc online if they were legit.  They are professional enough scammers to make it sound legitwhat the debtI am not a lawyer but aware of many scams going on that the scammers try to intimidate people into giving them info over the phone so they can get money out of you. They are hoping they have scared someone enough you will give them your credit card number or will give them some money someway to get them off your back

Check the case of George Lovelock, who missed a payment of only 11 cents,
and collectors aggressively tried to collect more than $4,000 from him.

Collection agency

When dealing with a collection agency:

(1) THEY have to show that you owe a debt & that they have the right to collect on that debt; insist that you will not pay anything until they give you this proof. NOTE: the courts are very specific about what is required for this proof and REQUIRE this proof if you ask for it.

(2) After a certain amount of time has passed since last payment on an account, you can no longer be sued on that account (approx 3 - 6 years). Search online for "statute of limitations" for the law in your state. Insist that any collection agency give you (in writing) the last date that a payment was made on the account to determine if you could be sued still. NOTE: if you make any payment at all this will start the clock over again so do not even pay a penny until you have this info.

(3) The collection agencies buy these debts for pennies on the dollar and hope that you do not know your rights and will be scared into giving them money even if you do not owe it or they have no right to collect it.

(4) KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ is the website for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and they have the latest laws and information to help consumers protect themselves from the shenanigans which many collection agencies engage in!

(5) Although I have a law degree - and have worked with all of the major credit bureaus - I am not YOUR lawyer. If you need a lawyer there are plenty out there who will happily sue a collection agency that is violating the law.

This company  called us almost everyday asking for a person that does not live here,  told them, but they don't believe me I guess,  Now we have turned off our answering machine so they cannot leave a message,  we never answer our phone anymore if we don't know who's calling.  Much easier that way.

I did not answer. There was a voicemail message left that repeated. The computer generated call did have a British accent and I was unable to decipher the name they were calling for. Still, no clue as to why they were calling.

Why are they calling my Grandmother and worse right at Christmas time? I have never given her number to anyone, my phone number is listed too. They know what my phone number is. This is intentional harassment on their part.
